Christmas was totally shit for me Matty. Lower rates, almost 50p per mile, and Uber’s commission went up from 20% to 27% so getting fisted at both ends. Feeling extremely deflated, can’t even be arsed working. Loads of jobs 6-8 miles away, plus the destination on top. Had a few like that I never bother to take them But as a test took one or two and you’re halfway there and the rider cancelled anyway. Systems a joke this December.

If i could afford to have the whole holidays off i would. But needs must. A few years ago i had a guy kicking off about how he still needs to get to work on crimbo day, and he shouldn't have to pay more than normal price. I just asked him if he was getting paid double time for working crimbo day. He shut up and never said another word to me. Tipped me a fiver when he got out😂

It’s not worth working Uber any day of the week, let alone Xmas. If you wanna earn under £1 a mile after the mileage to pick up is factored in, then work for Uber. Uber has destroyed the cabs and the sooner drivers bail them, then the costumers will. They’re a disease that spread and eventually becomes terminal. They’re absolutely disgusting. There is people is sweat shops making more the they do driving for Uber. Putting massive mileage on cars and burning fuel covering work for that company. All for £1 a mile and no tips! You’d be mad to cover a single job for them. Boycott them 🤢

@ divide that £18 an hour by hours worked then subtract your expenses, it’s way under national minimum wage. It’s an awful paying job.

It's £18 to £20 an hour AFTER expenses. Probably because I do the busy times. If people are only working 9-5 Monday to Friday in the taxi industry, they are the architects of their own problems. 👍

@ I’d agree but if you’re working constant weekends and nights on the cabs, what life is that? You’re taking people out socialising when you could be doing it yourself. The cabs robs you of a social life if you let it. I done it for a while and thankfully had my own car but You couldn’t pay me an amount that would make me go back. Its the absolute pits. It’s a means to an end really. No more. It’s a good stop gap if you’re in between jobs but I’d never recommend to anyone, especially younger folk as they’ll waste years on them that they won’t get back. It was ok a years ago, especially before than vermin company Uber came to the city, it’s abysmal now. If you’re unfortunate enough to need a settle car, you’re working 7 days and weekends and nights. It’s no life at all. Only my opinion like but having done it for a bit, it’s a miserable existence. If you’re paying a fortune for a settle car, The cabs will either make you fat, ill, lazy, single or in debt. 😂 or all of the above for some poor fellas. My advice to anyone, get a normal 9-5. After expenses, you’re still better off than paying hundreds a week before you earn a bean. Good luck tho 👍🏻
