I was thinking about praying to Mary for intercession until I saw this video. Thanks, Tiff. Christ is Lord and King.
@prairiemark40847 ай бұрын
I was and evangelical for the first 50 years of my life. And one of the things that compelled me to leave that tradition was the dishonest way they dealt with intercession. They like to quote from I Tim 2:4......"There is but one Mediator between God and man..." I was taught to use that verse to prove Catholics were wrong on intercession, but let us look at the end of the verse. Compare the shortened phrase quoted by the Evangelicals "There is but one Mediator between God and man" with the important way the Scripture presents it. "There is but one Mediator between God and man......who gave his life as a ransom for all.." St Paul says there is but one great Mediator who gave his life as a ransom for all. But not in vs 2....just a few verses above that vs 4, Paul not only allows humans to make intercessions to God for others. He actually "urges" us to do that. Beware of smooth sounding speakers who do not present the Word of God honestly. They will fool you sometimes. The Bible does contain examples of Saints on Earth making requests to Saints in heaven, but you are unlikely to hear them mentioned in a so called "Bible Church." Revelation 18:20 records that some Saints on Earth....the captain and the sailors actually made requests to Saints in Heaven (these were Apostles, Prophets and Saints). The Saints on earth had a request for Saints in heaven.....that they rejoice over the Fall of Babylon. O.T. Jews also prayed to the departed Saints. And in Revelation 8:5, it is recorded that Saints in Heaved (the Elders) received the prayers of the Saints on Earth and apparently passed them on to God. The Traditions of the Catholic Church are the oldest traditions and they are Biblical Traditions. Beware of those who select scriptures and leave out important parts of verse, or who just cherry pick the verses that seem to support their doctrinal traditions and ignore Scriptures that teach against their favorite beliefs. God bless you on your journey to discover the true Historic Christianity. Don't settle for a recently invented revised version of Christianity.

That is a grave sin to worship a human as a god or God. Most evangelicals are not taught what Catholics believe. It is a stretch to try to make a logical syllogism out of that. " Prayer is worship. Worship only God. Therefor Catholics are committing idolatry when they request Mary to pray for us." It is not logical at all and has a false premise. Not all prayer is worship as in worship of God. We can make a request to humans. That is one form of prayer. I sympathize with you greatly because that is what I was taught to do as a Fundamentalist Christian. But it caused me to commit the sin of bearing false witness against some brethren. The Apostles Paul says that there is only one Mediator Between God and man WHO GAVE HIMSELF AS A RANSOM FOR ALL. There is only one GREAT MEDIATOR who gave himself as a ransom for all. But each of us are urged to be a mediator between God and Man by praying for each other. I was taught to stop quoting the passage half way through. There is only one Mediator between God and Man.....is not the same as......There is only ONE MEDIATOR between God and Man WHO GAVE HIMSELF AS A RANSOM FOR MANY. It is dishonest to leave out the end of the phrase to make that passage say something the Apostle Paul did not write. But I do understand that that fits better with the theology of the Baptists and other Fundamentalists than the whole passage was it was written in scripture do. But that is what I was taught to do. And apparently you have been taught that. And the pastor making this video too. It is sad, but true.

@@111First Nowhere does the Sacred Word say that Saints in Heaven cannot pray for us. The Church has believed they can from the earliest days of Christendom. We know that there was a belief that Saints on earth could make request to saints in heaven as early as the 1st Century. St John mentions it in Revelations 18. vs 20. The saints on earth, the captains in the ships and the sailors cried out to the Saints, and Apostles and Prophets in Heaven and actually made a request to them. They were asked to rejoice over the Fall of Babylon. There is another interesting verse in Revellation 8:5. Where the the saints in heaven were recieving the prayers of the Saints on earth and were passing them on to God. But evangelicals don't usually deal with scriptures that deal with prayers being directed from Saints on Earth through Saints in heaven. If they do deal with verses like this, it is only to deny them and try to explain them away. When I was a Fundamentalist, my religious tradition seemed to trump the meaning of the Words of the Sacred Word. Yet I was taught to belittle other Christians who did take them seriously and form their doctrinal system around what the Scripture said and what the earliest Christians believed. Recently invented doctrines are not usually what the Good Lord prefers.

I hope you see this comment. I was in a convent for 2 years. I had started reading my Bible on my own. My parents said the church forbade me to do so because I can misinterpret it. Then I went to a special church service with my parents right after I left the convent because I couldn’t sign that I believed Popes were infallible when it came to spiritual matters. At the event I received the Holy Spirit and then the priest went up into the pulpit and began to teach on wearing a special necklace with the image of Mary on it and saying the rosary daily. Immediately the Holy Spirit told me to not pray to anyone but to God my Heavenly Father in Jesus’s name! I asked in my mind how this priest could possibly be used of God to bless me and I receive the Holy Spirit then teach such a lie. He said He could use anyone at anytime to perform His plan. Wow!

Thank you for this answer. My brother married a devout Catholic. My brother and I were raised in the Baptist Church. I changed over to a non-denominational church about 30 yrs ago and have never talked to my brother about some of the Catholic doctrine. This was one of my doubts, but my biggest problem was the confession of sins to a priest. I believe we confess our sins to God and he forgives us and erases the sin. I haven't come across anything in the Bible that would indicate confessing our sins to a priest. Can you answer that question? With the times we are living in now, I feel the need to speak to him. I don't believe he ever converted to Catholicism. I don't know where he is with the Lord and worried about his relationship with the Lord. Thank you for any information you can share.

@@PattyAlexander-td6tw We are always told to pray to the Father asking it in Jesus name. We are forbidden to pray to idols or any other man made version of God. When we confess our sins to God, He is faithful to forgive us of our sin. The blood of Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. There is nothing that can replace that or be above it. The Catholics call their priests, “ father “, when the Bible openly tells us to call no man father but our Heavenly Father. When you speak to your brother, avoid criticism of the Catholic Church. Stay on the subject of forgiveness through Jesus. Don’t argue about their saints, or customs. Stick to the Gospel message of Christ and Salvation. “ Go out into the world and spread the Gospel message.” Is our command from God. Not arguing or forceful demands on unbelievers. Show your brother that you love and respect his views, but can’t find foundation for them in the Bible. Trust in the Lord on this. Jesus said nothing will be able to snatch those God gave to Him, out of His hand. God in His foreknowledge has already chosen those who will believe in Him. Just live a Christian life before him and others. Importantly, read your Bible daily to get the truth on what you need to know. You will grow and be richer for it. You will also have more peace. Thank you for your teaching on this. I was raised Catholic, but left the Catholic Church years ago. I was raised to pray the Rosary all the time. But one day in my kitchen as I prayed the Rosary I had a visitation from JESUS. I felt Jesus fill the kitchen, and in fact HE was so large I had a vision that the ceiling opened up because Jesus was too large to be contained in the kitchen. I silently got out of my chair and lay face down on the floor. I didn't move or speak during my visitation from JESUS! I believe Jesus was trying to tell me that HE is more important than his Mother. I believe HE was trying to show me to pray to him. ❤ I needed this message of yours tonight, because my family still says the Rosary, and sometimes I've wondered if I shouldn't do this also sometimes. @@JohnSmith-cf4gn The first half of the Rosary is directly from the Gospels.....Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus. The second half is not directly from Scripture, but the conclusions of the Church regarding who the Christ was. In the early Church, some believed that Jesus was a created being. Some Scriptures could be understood that way. He is said to be "the firstborn of all Creation." Another place it says Jesus was the "only begotten Son of God." Taken alone these seem to support a Jesus that had a beginning. But the Church rejected that wrong view of Scripture. There are so many scriptures that say Jesus is God. The second half of the Rosary was likely written after the Church began to rebuke the false teaching that Jesus was just a Man, or the belief that Jesus "became the Son of God" by living a perfect life. Jesus was God from before he came to earth, the was God in the womb of Mary, and he is God forever. That Jesus being carried by the Blessed Mother Mary was actually God while in the womb. So the Church is proud to proclaim the Son of Mary truly is God. Thus the second half of the Rosary...... Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. "Holy" in scripture means set apart for the service of God. Mary certainly was that. And St James wrote that the "fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much." Paul in I Tim not only allows for us to pray for others, but he "urges" it. The Rosary is Truly a Biblical prayer that stresses the Deity of Christ, even before he was born. Many Protestants today believe that Christ was not divine when he was in the womb. He was not really divine until he lived a righteous life and was accepted as God's Son. This heresy is called an "Adoptionist Christology." We must stay away from teachings that deny that Christ was not God through all eternity past.

While she is the most blessed of all women from the beginning of time, there are many scriptures in the Bible that support against praying to Mary as a deceased person. Jesus, her son, prayed to His Father in Heaven and He taught us how to pray. Not once did he mention her. It has never crossed my mind to pray/speak with my earthly father whom I love, respected and miss since he passed away when I was a child. Why would I pray/communicate with a person who is no longer alive when I have been given the gift, through Jesus Christ, to speak directly to the One, True, Almighty, Living God? The Bible actually tells us, in about 100 passages, not to speak to the dead. Jesus Christ and He only, is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one goes to the Father but through Him.

She is the vessel God used to bring Jesus into the world in human form. That's all. She is not sinless, she was not assumed into heaven and we definitely shouldn't pray to her or any other saint. The bible is clear - all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Yet the catholic hierarchy teaches she was sinless - this is blasphemous to make a human on equal footing with God. Outrageous. It's a shame so many catholics just blindly follow without checking the bible to see if these things are true.

Can you please speak about Peter being the rock upon which the church was built and the idea that he was the first pope.
@margaretrobinson-sn2nb7 ай бұрын
Above comment. You would hate his answer. Peter NOT but Christ the rock. Peter never I 4one but in babloyn. And NOT NOT first pope.
@sueporter66857 ай бұрын
@@margaretrobinson-sn2nb Actually, I love your answer. I have a few friends who believe Peter started the church and was the first pope. I share videos that teach truth. Tiff does an excellent job explaining scripture.
@bryguy82037 ай бұрын
Christ is clearly the Rock in the context of that Scripture. And Matthew 8:14,15. Yes, and Peter was married, not pope number 1, and had a "mother in law" who was sick and Jesus healed her and she then served Him@@sueporter6685

I feel as if God does not accept me! My biggest problem is I DO NOT know how to pray at all!! This keeps me from praying because I'm ashamed! Today, you said it does no good at all, nor does God want us to repeat a prayer! If I am saved, why can't I pray!?? Please help me with this problem that weighs so very heavy on my heart! I am 76 years old, and I am quickly running out of time Thank you, kind Sir!! Sincerely, Marylou 🙏❤️

@tenderheart I know I'm not the pastor and I'm not the 1 you asked. But that's the enemy trying to tell you lies about praying, God definitely wants his children to pray and talk to him. He wants a relationship with us. I feel the same as you sometimes but I know that is the enemy talking. Please don't be ashamed to pray to our Father talk to him as you would your best friend cause that's what he is. You absolutely can pray God knows your heart. Listen again to some of Pastor Tiff preaching on this subject. God so wants to hear from us. Praise him for who he is and what he's done. And give him your trouble he doesn't want us to carry that. Im 62 and pray to God all the time. Sometimes I just sing praises to him. And even though he knows I tell him how much I love him and praise his name. Praying for you. Just sending this to you from another Christian that the devil tries to use. Keep PTL he hears you.

@donnamealor1155 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question!! You have such a good heart to care and try to help. I feel like somehow, some way, something must not be right for me to struggle so much! Then, every once in a while, I start to pray, and my heart just opens up and i t just pours out, and it feels so good and I am so happy! Then, the next time, it's right back to the same prayer! I know you are right about the devil, but I apparently can't shake him! I have even told them to leave me in the name of Jesus, to get out! But next then there they are again! I just want to feel right with God any know he is proud of me! But really, thank you so very much because you have helped me, and May God Bless you sweet lady!! Sincerely Marylou🙏❤️

It was rather interesting. My elderly catholic friends had asked me to take them to Mass as their taxi mobile guy had the flu. I have been many times to their mass when they needed a driver. I pulled up this morning at the car park to the retirement home. Turned my phone on and the title of this message was highlighted : Is it right to pray to Mother Mary . Interesting timing .. I do though admire their devotion over a lifetime to attending Mass .

Their devotion guarantees them nothing if they aren’t obeying God’s Word.

Only God judges. Who are we to judge .. Many pentecostals dont practice what they believe either . For we shall all appear before the judgment seat and give an account of ourselves whether Good or Evil. 2 Cor 5:10

Catholics pray the rosary to ask mary to intervene for them to get permission from Jesus to forgive their sins. They use mary as the middle person to get to Jesus. Thats not what Jesus said.

I wonder why Pastor Tiff gave that disclaimer about divisiveness, etc. Yes there are some things that might be a bit hard to understand in the Bible, but nowhere does it say we should pray to Marry, as in that just makes absolutely no sense, we have Jesus, and Jesus is a direct line to God, why would folks even come up with an idea to pray to Marry? We dont pray to Mosses, we dont pray to Noah, Isaiah, etc

I have been raised Catholic and really appreciate hearing this. I do want to say as there our many statues of Holy Saints in our churches I have never felt like I was praying to or honoring statues. I always considered them as examples of people who have struggled and yet followed God. No more than a picture.

They forgot about Fatima
@nightowl53967 ай бұрын
@@williamca7067 i for one haven't forgotten about those apparitions. Anyone who reads scripture and reads the fatima message found on the vatican website will recognize the entity claiming to be Mary the mother of Jesus is not her at all and these apparitions most certainly are not of God. Jesus is our only mediator and saviour. God's word never changes and is forever settled in heaven. the entity claiming to be Mary in the fatima apparition makes this claim. Excerpt from the fatima message found at the vatican website: "You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace." This is not the scriptural gospel. It is blatantly anti scripture and should be a huge clue that this apparition not of God. Galatians 1:8-9 KJV [8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. I talk to staunch roman catholics and they refuse to consider these things. Sad, very sad.

Yes it is as I believe as prayer should have to be directed to God and in the name of Jesus As the savior that God send to earth to save mankind from the course of death from God for human disobeying God for eating the forbidden fruit. The book of Romans said death comes from our first parents that is Adam and Eve. The second Adam that is Jesus is a spirit that will give us life. As Jesus said thus who believed and do his will cannot die and thus who died will rise again. It means that Jesus being a man also experienced death but death cannot hold him as he have risen and defeated death. It is only Jesus that will come again to raise us again from death to join God's presence in heaven. Mary the mo ther of Jesus is just human that needs also salvation. This is the message of the Bible that we have to understand.
