Angelo: JKD’s ties to Kajukenbo might be a good subject for a talk with Mitch Powell.

@@MokeTheGeniusDog we have. But outside of a few pictures and a lot of stories. I'm not sure.

I struggle with Bruce Lee’s timeline. He started traditional martial arts at 16, opened his school in Seattle at 19. Prior to 16 he was busy full time making films (look at his filmography). His old black and white videos show him working with Hollywood celebrities, but the techniques he is demonstrating are sloppy. He died 16 years after starting his martial training, and in that time he attended college, and made many movies living the life of a star. How much time did he have to dedicate to training? He was quick, strong, and a dedicated fitness fanatic. He was also a good actor. As for Bruce Lee grappling, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of anyone claiming Bruce Lee had ground skills. It’s like his story just keeps growing. 😂

@@MokeTheGeniusDog it's interesting because he was really involved with a lot of martial artists that later did testimonials about his skills. I'm not sure how good of a fighter he was. But one thing that is undeniable is the impact he had. Thanks for checking out the show 🤙

You might be referring to the point at which I said (something like) "You can't pull off even movie grappling without knowing at least a little" ... that's very different from claiming that he "had ground skills"!

I’m enjoying this crossover between Social Gelo and Jeet Kune Do Dialogues of which I’m also a subscriber. I like to say Kajukenbo and JKD are cousin arts. Not just because of the similarities in the philosophy, but also because both were very present and in close proximity at their early stage of growth in the Bay Area. They connect through certain people.

@@bengee0ne that's true. I wanted to mention that but I decided to do another episode with some guests that trained with those guys. It will be later down the road. Thanks for checking out the show 🤙
