In John 12:41 where it says 'he saw his glory and spake of him', there are two Isaiah passages quoted before this where both refer to God. So, Isaiah saw God's glory and spoke of him. Firstly from Isa 53:1 'Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?', and secondly Isa 6:10 'He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.' It is God's arm and God is the one who would heal them. Yet both these quotes can be applied to Jesus without making him God. This is because Jesus was acting as his father's agent and therefore his arm. When he healed people he was acting as the arm of God, which is simply the idea of a messenger or representative acting on another's behalf, and coming in their name. This concept is seen in Malachi 3:1 '...and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.' This messenger of the covenant was Jesus, of whom God says 'he shall come'. So, it wasn't God coming but his messenger who was Jesus.

Jesus Christ "Before Abraham was.......I AM"
@jollyrancher5214 ай бұрын
In John 8:58 Jesus is not declaring himself to be God. Some believe Jesus is making an allusion to Exodus 3:14 where God says, “I AM THAT I AM,” according to the King James version. But Jesus did not say that. He used the Greek expression “ego eimi” (“I am”), which was a common expression and was used by several people in the Bible. For example, in John 9:9 the man who Jesus cured of blindness said “ego eimi”, affirming that he was the one cured by Jesus. In Acts 10:21, Peter used “ego eimi” to say, “I am the one you are looking for.” In John 8:58, Jesus is simply saying that he existed before Abraham. “Before Abraham was born, I am.” (The Greek does not capitalize "I AM" as if it were a title.) Other translations translate this verse to more proper English: “Before Abraham was born, I have been” or “I existed before Abraham was born.”

In John 1:1 the Greek noun _theos_ (“god”) appears twice. The first time it is preceded by the definite article _ho_ (“the God”). When the noun has a definite article, it points to a distinct identity, in this case Almighty God. However, the second _theos,_ referring to the Word, does not have the definite article. It is indefinite. _Theos_ without the definite article in this verse points to a characteristic or quality of the Word instead of an identity. The Word is "divine", "a god", “god-like”, but not the same as _ho theos_ (“the God”). Note that John 1:1 also says that "the Word was with God". Someone who is with another person is not the same as that other person.

I concur with Got Questions Ministries. I would argue that Jesus was and is Divine! Some concerns regarding the Triune God is beyond human comprehension. I would also argue, as I have indicated in other posts, that the Godhead, though it is, in fact, three persons, and not three gods, but one God, are coequal, and always in agreement, and when one person of the Godhead speaks, they all are saying the same thing which means that the God of the Bible is always speaking whether one person or the other persons of the Godhead says something or does something or not. That argument would debunk the idea that Jesus did not specifically say that He was or is God when, in fact, He did say that He is God. The other argument and question is, if someone believes in oneness theology (Modalism), would that person still be considered to be saved? I know that the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. determined that Modalism is heresy. That is something to think about. That being said, I do not have all of the answers, but we must seek and trust God for the answers. May God richly bless Got Questions Ministries for what they do to get the word out to a dying world.

Jesus was a completely physical man who knew sorrow, pain, joy, who was full of the life force of God from his conception! He would have to say “if you know me, you know the Father”! He would have to refer to himself as the Son of the Father! He was God’s spirit in a man’s body! He could bring people back from the dead and heal people because of his deity! When Jesus teaches us how to pray to the father in the Lord’s Prayer, he is actually telling us how to prayer to his father in heaven! Jesus being called the “Son Of God” does not in any way diminish who he was or the power he had life and death! He could not say I am God! He was Jesus! He was God in Jesus body! Just as a light bulb lighting up a room would not say I am battery! Yet the bulb could only light the room because of the electric from the true power source. The best point to be made here is Jesus, God’s spirit in human form , born without sin, dies a horrible death, to atone for our sins! What love could be greater than that??? Jesus, as a man, could have run away that night in the garden, but thru the power of God stood his ground and performed his earthly destiny!

NO, Jesus is NOT God....if he is then maybe you can answer the following.....Many people get confused about God because Jesus said "all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me " So the question is WHO gave this authority to Jesus ? So God has entrusted HIS SON to bring judgement to this earth and has appointed his son to judge the earth, and so Jesus figures so much in the outworking of God's plan that people often this Jesus is God, but this is not the case, and to prove this I am going to show you one chapter out of many in the Bible which proves Jesus is not God. Take a look at 1 Cor 15; and Vs 24 to begin with which says: Next, the end, when he hands over the Kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. QUESTION: So WHO does Jesus hand over the kingdom too ? WHO puts all enemies under his feet ? Now Vs 28-7-28 which says For God “subjected all things under his feet.”But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that this does not include the One who subjected all things to him.28 But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone. QUESTION: WHO does the son subject himself to ? Does it look like Jesus is God here, considering God does NOT have a God himself ?

Here is where Jesus actually uses the word GOD to refer himself as GOD. Check out Luke and Matthew, chapter 4 in both Gospels. This is where Satan is tempting Jesus and Jesus answered the devil by saying Thou shalt not tempt the Lord your GOD! It is obvious here that Jesus was referring to himself as both Lord and God. Satan was tempting Jesus, not God the Father in heaven. Again look at Jesus's reply to Satan. This is very clear and profound! You can see the same in verse 8 in Luke where Satan tempts Jesus to worship him and again Jesus is referring to himself as both Lord and God saying Thou shalt worship the Lord your GOD and him only shall you serve. Did Jesus claim to be God? NO!! Consider At John 3:17, Jesus said: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn 8 the world, but that the world might be saved through him." So, did Jesus claim to be God or did he say he was sent BY God? At John 7:16, 17, Jesus said: "What I teach is not my own teaching, but it comes from God, who sent me. 17Whoever is willing to do what God wants will know whether what I teach comes from God or whether I speak on my own authority." So, did Jesus say he was God or did he say he was sent by God? At John 17:3, Jesus prayed to his Father, calling him "the ONLY true God." So, did Jesus claim to be God or did he call his Father "the ONLY true God"? At John 19:7, the Pharisees said to Pilate: "We have a law that says he ought to die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.” So, did the Pharisees want Jesus dead for claiming to be God? Or was it because he clained to be the Son of God?

*Jesus Christ* the Son of God *IS God the Father* manifested in genuine human form. *1 TIMOTHY 3:16 (KJV)* _And without controversy GREAT is the MYSTERY of godliness: _*_GOD was manifest in the flesh,_*_ justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory._

manifest = display or show (a quality or feeling) by one's acts or appearance; demonstrate. We can all manifest God. This does not mean we ARE God.

@@mskrislewis No, we aren't God. But "the man Christ Jesus" IS. That's the "GREAT...MYSTERY".

1 Timothy 3:16 in the King James Version reads: "God was manifest in the flesh," referring to Jesus Christ. But most newer translations read, "He was manifest in the flesh" or "He who was revealed in the flesh." The discovery of older Greek manuscripts showed that the word "God" did not originally appear in this verse. The American Standard Version has a footnote that reads: “The word _God,_ in place of _He who,_ rests on no sufficient ancient evidence.” Apparently, this corruption of the text was introduced to support the Trinity doctrine.
