I adore the facial animations in this show. The characters are all charming too. I am kinda sad that Chika is getting all the attention by the fans, and hell some people are even shitting on Kaguya because she ain't "best girl" (I hate that concept btw cause lately we have been getting "wiifus" and not actual characters in both games and anime) The entire cast is great, the opening and BOTH EDs are great and can we just give a mad props to the narrator, the guy does a fantastic job.

Kaguya has been shown to be two steps ahead of Miyuki but Chika is two steps beyond that. I wouldn't be surprised to learn at the end of the series that Chika was aware of their feelings the whole time and she was doing all the interferring she was doing... because it amused her, yo!

It's possible. But to be honest in the end we don't need to fight over favorites. The fact is that all the main characters are good... which is something I barely see in most shows.

If anything Chika is the least interesting character of the Student Council. She is the comedy foil... nothing more. Her character barely has development in the whole series. On the other hand Ishigami, Kaguya, Miyuki and Miko have all the best development I have seen in a romcom in years. Even secondary characters like Papa Shirogane, Kei Shirogane or Maki Shijo are more interesting than Chika.

I’m seriously hoping we get a season 2, with all the traction and attention this series has garnered this season. The manga is one of my favourites and some of the best arcs in the series would come with a second season.

I really enjoy it too. But this is coming from someone who hasn't read the manga, I don't necessarily think season 2 is a good idea. It's only episode 8 but I'm starting to feel a little fatigue from the extremely similiar episodes that almost seem to be exact repeats of each other. I think there's not much room to work content in given the setting they created, where the story is essentially finished if one confesses. Can't blame them for creating very similiar episodes considering the extremely small window of content to wiggle in, but a season 2 that's exactly like this may not be the best for this series

Gon Freecs Trust me friend, the jokes only get better and better. It’s when they start piling up(where you need to be aware of prior instances of similar scenes, like the case with the love advice given to the minor couple) the jokes that it becomes even more emotional and impactful. A season 2 is necessary to bring out this great aspect of the manga. Not to mention, the story DOES have arcs, despite feeling discontinuous. Unfortunately, the anime changed up the order of some stories and removed a few others, so that impression suffered a blow. Nevertheless, the true arcs will be explored with a season 2. Plus, SPOILERS the manga recently entered a climax and is now working towards a secondary climax within the next 50 chapters or so. You’d think the story would finish at a clear point, but nope, the writing is good enough to continue. The story isn’t just about the main couple, it’s about everyone that supports them as well. SPOILERS It’s good to get series that cut the bullshit. Which is a nice trend in series made in latter 2010s. I got so fed up with the BS in older series I grew up with.

Gon Freecs Great comparison actually. But Kaguya is actually higher on the character development scale. The growth of characters is quite tangible, precisely because you understand that they (minus Chika) are flawed people. Nozaki-kun characters are in general, great coming out the gate, with little need of growth, (except maybe in the romantic department). It’s hard to end series like Nozaki-kun but with Kaguya-sama, you know it can end at any time once all the character arcs are complete.

I can't recommend this anime and the manga enough, I just love it. No stupid love triangles, no comedy romance that goes nowhere; even certain cliche situations get a fresh take. It's genuinely funny and the characters get a great gradual development. Watch the anime, and then read the manga (the anime has skipped certain chapters from the manga, so you can read it from the beginning and still find surprises). This is the best romantic comedy I've read in my life, sorry Ranma.

It likely got the production budget because the manga was, or rather is, a massive success. Ergo it was kind of assumed that the anime would do well. Though part of the reason the Manga has been so successful, is because of how talented the artist is. Everything just flows, and looks fantastic. So much so, that you some times forget that you're reading a Romantic Comedy, and instead find yourself in a physiological horror. You wouldn't want to lose that kind of magic in the anime adaption, so a good budget would be needed to make it work. It of course is also incredibly well written and has a lovable cast of characters. So over all Kaguya-Sama is a must read/watch.

First airing series that I have watched episodes multiple times. Then broke down to read the manga because I wanted more. I love this show. Characters are not one note archetypes. The writing is ingenious in the simplicity of events taken to absurd lengths, from going to the movies, exchanging contact info, and planning a trip. Yet the comedy comes from the interactions of the characters which is a sign of a good cast dynamic. I highly recommend the show and reading the manga once the show ends.

To anyone reading this who hasn't read the manga, there are manga spoilers past this point: The point I was trying to make was that I don't think I would be able to cope with it if I had to wait a week on the cliffhanger of Kaguya breaking up with Miyuki a few chapters ago, and not being able to just binge straight through that section.

Chika is Chaos! So a few other things. The director is Mamoru Hatakeyama who also directed Rakugo Shinju. Strangely he doesn't have a Wiki page. I haven't confirmed this but some are saying he is also Shinichi Omata, an animator formerly with SHAFT. Series composer is Yasuhiro Nakanishi who, I think, is an up and comer. He's written individual episodes of Rakugo Shinju, BanG Dream!, Idolish Seven, and Iroduku. The OP is sung by Masayuki Suzuki, who is known as the King of Love Songs. At age 62, this is his first anime song.

The reason why the Episode 3 Ending was only used once was for a couple of reasons. one such reason was that it was an advertisement for the first Blu ray sale of kaguya anime which worked extremely well, another was that the dance featured a whole lot of references to the chapters in the manga that were not adapted which a lot of them were poses that Fujiwara did and the final reason is that the first ending of kaguya love is war is so much more important to the first season which is not obvious at all the anime onlys but it is clear to manga readers as to what the ending means. If you loved episode 12 of the anime when it does come out then reading the manga is highly recommended as for me it only keeps getting better and better with the comedy and story.

Something that really impressed me in the mentioned Fujiwara ending was the skirt. I know it might sound weird and I didn't even notice it the first time I saw it, but I don't remember EVER seeing clothes of any kind having such realistic movement animation, save parhaps some high budget movies by the like of Disney, Pixar and the like.
