I’m just starting KDP. I’m glad they made the changes. I was overwhelmed with the whole AI stuff going around because I am an artist drawing my coloring book from scratch. I also was a little overwhelmed with the possibility of publishing books all at once. Too many anyway, unrealistic for most people. Now I don’t have to worry about that anymore. Thank you!

I’m still new to this, but actually think these changes are good. Those uploading 100s a day cannot be producing quality products. And you’re right…it’s the equivalent of spam. I’ve added to my workflow, A+ content for every book. That way people can see the inside and at least get an idea of the quality of each book. The spammers can’t do that. Now! To generate traffic to my coloring books!! 😅 still working on that.
@LiveLifeBeingThankful Жыл бұрын
A+ Content for every book is great. I thought the same and do this for every book. As a customer I want to see what's inside the books. So I think it sure is something that will help us all in the long run. If a customer see's your A+ content, it might make them curious to see our other books.
@juliamascardo638 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, when I was seeing people say that they were using AI to make and upload hundreds of books a day, I wondered if it was the end for me. I *know* that my books are better quality, since I take the time to make a quality product. But if I'm buried under hundreds upon hundreds of new books a day, it would be hard to get seen to gain traction. I also felt so ovewhelmed with how many I "should" be trying to upload to keep up, that I ended up not uploading much of anything on a daily basis. Instead, I'd wait until I had a huge backlog of stuff and then went through the upload process. At 3 books/day, that is a very doable goal for me -- 3 KDP books, 30 Teepublic designs, 30 Redbubble designs, 1-3 Etsy listings, and so on, makes it a very easy-to-plan workload. But I can see why spammers would be upset..... and GOOD. Getting them out of KDP will be better for everyone (except them, I guess).

I started my KDP journey because of this channel. In all honesty, I am a novelist and was looking to do self pub, then I accidentally stumbled on this channel while searching for ways to format my novels to KDP. I also started publishing educational books that became one of my bestsellers. I think spamming books in one day is actually a bit too much. I used to publish one blank notebook per day then 1 medium content book aka educational books once a week, and one full length novel per month but never more than that.

I am a novelist as well. I have a really hard time selling low content and medium content books, but my novels, even though I only have 3 so far, always get found organically and sell. whereas if i advertise my other books, no sales.
@Telltalesign Жыл бұрын
@@candid0111 once you get the idea on which book sells and which one doesn't in medium content books, you'll get the hang of it. I only have 5 novels so far and though they are selling organically, they are pretty slow in my case. One of my novels are doing pretty well on Kindle, then I got one star with a novel like length review on it, then after that the sales on it goes really low. I probably need to work on that. I guess we all can't have it all, or we can have it all, but only if we work hard for it. 😅

Also, Amazon is a business and they have a right to quality control measures. I was surprised they hadn’t done this before frankly. I am sure there will be more measures to keep people from overwhelming their marketplace with nonsense. This creates a poor experience for customer and people hold them accountable.

Gotta say I agree with your ideas, although you are wrong about one thing. Amazon IS in the business of making product. Now they haven't done anything in publishing that I'm aware of, but they do now produce thousands of products across the art supplies category and electronics. They have put low price producers of those products out of business. I don't think we have anything to worry about as we do not produce hard goods as such. We produce intellectual content and you can't exactly open a factory and mass produce creativity.

All well said, except that Amazon traffic isn't really free. Well, in theory it is of course, but it in reality you can not get anywhere without paying for ads.
@mrc7593 Жыл бұрын
The truth is: you are correct. So many people talk about organic sales, and that organic sales are the ideal kind of sale, but in my experience, without Ads, your book, however good, will fall by the wayside and never get seen. I’ve learnt, over the years, that you have to set yourself a monthly budget. That budget is the amount of money you are prepared to lose. Your aim should be to produce enough books that sell at least 1 to 3 copies a day (or 30 over the course of a month) to cover your set budget. Once your budget is covered then you can start to add more books that exceed your advertising costs, and thrust you into a profit. However, if you cut back on your budget, cost per click, then your sales will fall off as well. That’s been my experience. I set a budget of $350 per month. That seems to be the sweet spot for me.
