Unohana didnt get defeated by kenpachi as a child though. When they fought and kenpachi stabbed her in the chest he supressed himself to enjoy the battle longer, thus weakening himself. Theres even a short scene in TYBW were Unohana and another shinigami were looking down om the defeated child kenpachi. She revived him because she found heraelf guilty if she killed kenpachi knowing at the time he would be the one to defeat her honourably in battle some day.

They were torn off during Zaraki's fight with Cien Granz and he never put them back in, also the eyepatch that he currently wears drains 10x more reiatsu than the one he used in the past. This was given to him at the end of SAFWY by Mayuri.

Never forget that when Yamamoto actually took the time to train the guy, simply teaching him to use both hands behind a simple cutting strike would amplify his power and that he still opted to fight with not one but two handicaps: his eye patch and using only one hand simply because otherwise it would be no fight at all but a straight up massacre. If he actually put his weight behind training from what we have seen during the Blood War, say, instead of what amounts to weeks thereabouts, he spent a century learning to not only control his reiatsu but also the ins and outs d outs of his zanpakuto, he’d probably be transcendent and likely be able to kill Aizen and the likes. The dude is BLEACH’s Gohan, he has on demand amps that can simply make him leap from barely factoring to outright the deciding factor.

Zaraki is on the same tier of power as Aizen and Ichigo because they are the only 3 characters whose reiatsus are so powerful that they couldn't be felt by others unless lowered. Also they are the only 3 characters able to beat Hikone from the light novel"Can't Fear Your Own World". Additionally, all 3 characters trump Ichibei in power.

If he fought with any more restrictions he'd be tying himself up, and he's still an absolute powerhouse.

Plus kempachi is still relatively young for a shinigami, by the time he's fully matured and mastered his strength and reatsu it wouldn't matter what hax abilities anyone else swords have, cuz just like when aizen just straight up nullified soi fon's shikai ability by overwhelming it with his own spiritual pressure, eventually no one will even be able to hurt kempaci when his body is physically strong enough to handle releasing all his reatsu, that's pretty much the main reason he subconsciously suppressed himself so much, cuz if he didn't most likely by the time soul society arc, hed of been beyond final getsuga tensho ichigo in just pure raw power, And they don't show it in the anime but I believe if I remember correctly in the manga aizen was glad he was able to trap kempachi specifically in wakomundo because he was wary about his dormant power. Plus unlike what ppl think we've pretty much seen this all throughout the series it wasn't something they just came up with in the blood war arc, Kempachi goes from just around shikai level ichigo to beyond bankai level tosen in just a Few chapters no training or anything, and when he fight noritora he admitted his muscles shrank cuz hes been lazy, implying he doesn't really train often while ichigo had to go though he'll to reach grimjow level who was weaker than noritora, and while fighting the 10/0 espada he himself just kept getting stronger as he did.

He gave his Bankai an extra level of power because he didn't want to rely on it, he refrained from using his full strength against strong opponents because it made him sad to stop the fun, he uses an eye patch that saps his own power, he wears bells in his hair so his opponents can hear him coming, and he even fights with a dull blade.
