The Soul King's power is directly responsible for keeping the three realms separated, and the Oken directly ties the Royal Guard to the Soul King through his palace. This was explicitly stated in manga, as well as the RG being directly transformed by the Soul King's power when they received the Oken. It makes perfect sense that channeling their collective power into a single bankai would affect the three realms.

It always annoyed me that Yammy stated spirit pressure to be what gave Espada their rankings, while Noitra claimed that Nels fighting ability put her over himself. In my mind it makes sense that they fight for the position, seeing as someone like Barragan who is wholly reliant on his overpowered ability and not his spirit pressure is so far up. It also makes sense that Stark is above Barragan, because stark uses pieces of his soul to fight, and this would counter Barragans ability seeing as souls do not fade with time.

i never viewed it like that, in the SS ark, all the soul reaper were in a time of peace and althoug considered strong, were not at there peak, good times makes peapole weak, kenpachi showcases that as he could be stronger but restrain himself too much those he fights.
