Nothing can emulate being out in nature, the feeling, emotion, smell, the cold, the warmth, the enjoyment and the sadness. What’s ever the experience, it’s always a one off. I love being out there and if I capture a good shot the even better. I also love and will embrace AI, it’s a great tool. It may generate a replacement but will never actually replace that moment.

Well said Trevor. Landscape photography might change, but it won't die as long as people enjoy exploring the outdoors and capturing what they see.

I would say that there has been a downward trend in the creation and consumption for landscape photography online at least, in part this is a natural rebalancing, now that people can get back outdoors, to what was forbidden during the lockdowns and pandemic. but also, I think the larger channels have moved on to showing international destinatinations which are often so much more exciting than what we perceive to have on our own doorstep. To the vast majority of us to go to such a location would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, which results in the frustration of what's the point for me, to shoot local, when it doesn't compare to what we see from the established channels on a weekly basis. Just my 2p worth on the matter. Not sure If I have explained that very well, but I hope you get my thinking :)

I dont think its dead as such, I think its become oversaturated on social media unfortunately, Its nice to get the likes, followers etc. But like Steve mentioned nothing will replace that feeling you get being in the outdoors, in that moment when the light kicks off and you just know you've captured a moment in time thay will never be captured again.

Nice video and thoughts Trevor. I don't think landscape photography is dead, but I certainly think it is very oversaturated, especially over there in the UK. Seems like everyone has taken to it and has a YT channel over there. I find myself now looking for American and Canadian channels to watch, but there doesn't seem to be nearly as many over here. It doesn't matter to me what AI technology does to photography, I will always enjoy being out in nature, whether people want to follow me or purchase my prints or not. Thanks for the question. I hope you are doing well mate, have a great rest of the weekend!

Those channels are not real to me. They are promoting places most people will never see and are unatainable to most. They use those place to generate income and I would venture to guess their images do not pay for the trips costs. I have no desire to travel to tourist destinations and would prefer the areas tourists do not travel to. These are the unique images. They may not be the iconic views but have more unfamiliar beauty than the iconic everyone has seen hundreds of times on the internet. I no longer go to National Parks for the same reasons. Nothing unique about those images any longer. Landscape photography is not dead. I am tired of seeing "sponsored" photographers and paid revues. So tired of Squarespace ads. That is what I am bored with, landscape photographers who sell things and not images. They are compromised by money. AI is not photography nor is it art. It is fake. Good vlog, have a great weekend.
