The biggest issue with league, is almost every ability is edge-to-edge. So the hitbox is like 25% larger than the visuals. But still the fact that so many abilities lollipop for no reason. My biggest issue that I want fixed, besides balance and bugs, is autopathing. It has been so bad for so long because of walls, working in straight lines, etc. and they haven't touched it, except to somehow make it worse

Agreed. We could literally go a full year without champions if we got reworks instead and it would do the game much more good. The problem with that is, that it is arguably more effort for less notoriety or money gain. But... look at reworks like akali's. Gameplay aside, they took a champion not alot of people cared much about after awhile... and made her one of the biggest money-making assassin champions in the game. She is now arguably more popular for skin sales than Lux. Just make damn good reworks or at least ones with strong artistic work and presentation and you can make a ton. Fiddlesticks and Nunu had a similar glow-up and impact.

What if, (let me huff that copium for a moment) they're making a storyline-based game mode, where, for example Star Guardian takes place, and we follow through the story, fighting enemies (PvE), progressing as one of the teams of Star Guardians. Then we can have several storylines based on what we choose to fight midway, like branching into different scenarios to gain new powers/buffs, making decisions on the way which then leads to a new unlocked PvP mode that players can join at the end of the entire Chapter. Each Chapter could last for, idk, half a season? like how TFT stays on, so players can actually learn the stories, have enough time to reach the end of the storyline, then build up their team to fight in the PvP part at the end, a mega battle arena with the player choosing one of the main characters, then teaming up with others who select the other characters. That would be an awesome clash to watch, and I think it would make the stories and Universes that League already has even more immersive and easier to follow, understand, and maybe bring more depth into the different storylines they have to offer. [Edit: when i mean "other characters", i meant that the player would eb able to upgrade all the available characters with augments that they may have unlocked in the branches, and they can use it when they choose said character in the fight. meaning that each person would have their own unique build for that character to synergize with the rest of the team in the PvP clash.] When the Chapter is over, players may also get to have a glimpse of what is to come in the next chapter, making it like a saga that we HAVE to come back to once the chapters release to follow through the stories again. Although starting afresh, or not, idk, i'm just bullsh-ting, players can dive again into the story, and slowly play through it while listening to a narration of the story unfolding, PvE until a certain point, and unlock an Odessey-like PvP where they have fun and explore and play their hearts out (note if the chapter comes every half season, this would be the season end), and players can get rewards for completing the storyline, having something to remember the Chapter they went through, and to commemorate their efforts in playing.

I'm almost certain it'll be a full engine overhaul with massively improved visuals while retaining mid-low settings for said lower spec pc's to be able to run at very similar if not better fps, possibly some PVE modes though IMO it'll be a large improvement to the engine. OR something similar to what DOTA 2 does... they release some from of server side dev kit and let fans create game modes/items.... that'll be great

I sorta agree with the "fun over fair" philosophy, but only if "fun" means they want champions and any new release feel fun to play as AND against. Playing Yasuo, Yone, Akali, Trynd, Yuumi, Sion, etc. can be the most fun you can have when playing them depending on who you ask but when you're on the recieving end, there's nothing that makes the next 20-40 minutes any more miserable. And I do think that it's an incredibly important pain point they should address. Champions with clear weaknesses but moments of power are fun. Champions that have to put in less than half the effort to destroy you compared to all the work you have to go through only to answer them are something that will always bother me about the game. I hate that they make it seem like both fun and fair are mutually exclusive. Like there's no instance in which things can be fun and fair. Look at Hwei, plenty of room to punish him, and he has a lot of fun tools that actually don't feel that oppresive, it's fun to play as and against him. Then you look at shit like Jax or Tryndamere, where they just jump on you and kill you with little to no counterplay.

tanks since 13.19, all skill has gone out the window since the keystone nerf because now assassins and adc's don't do enough damage to counter the tank rune buff so ever since they brought nexus blitz back meta has just been whoever stacks more bruisers/tanks in a team wins as eventually no one can do enough damage to kill them all at once amount of times I use good positioning and kiting, dodge all their abilities and still eventually die after kiting half the map because I'm 3 items 0 damage and they just kill me in 2 right clicks while building full tank and after i've auto attacked them 200 times, where is the skill/reward dynamic in that shouldn't have to build mortal reminder or lord doms every game just to play the game

I highly doubt they'd adopt a new engine. It would take an enormous amount of work to port over everything, probably not worth it when they've already invested so much into the current engine. My bet is on a custom game editor. I think that would align very well with their new direction.

A new league does not mean the requirements need to change. I don't know why these things always get equated. A brand new engine could be designed to require very low minimum specs. The engine they have at the moment sucks hard and their codebase is crap. Starting again on a new engine that has the same system requirements will do them wonders.

@@Cherry-pu4mxright. The only requirement they probably need to get rid of is supporting 32 bit computers. Of course that's a choice that they don't have to make, but the 4GB RAM limitation of that hardware prevents them from doing a lot of things. Again, they could choose to support that still if they want, but given that it's 2023 it wouldn't be crazy for them to drop support for it. Does the current league still support 32 bit? I can't remember if they've already dropped that or not to be honest.

Some map alternations I really want to be implanted in League: - Randomly grow bushes and trees.(some champs will really benefits from this tho, might need to balance around a bit.) - Lakes, or ponds, or just deep spot in the river that you can hide in for a limited amount of time if your champ can't breathe under water. It was really weird that everyone in League can just walking on the water like Jesus. - More wandering monsters in jungle. The territorial animals in camps are fine, but the additional, maybe depends on the elemental maps would be interesting. - More plants, or deaths will alter the nearby plant's spawning, so we can see more plant action, and open more possibilities for both snowballing and turned tables.

It’s just never fun facing the raidboss pdf toplaner who seems to scale way better with way cheaper items. It is never fun facing that. As well as in general facing meta with how dominantly and present it is. You can literally tell what currently is meta. Honestly, I'd love for riot to officially support a version of linux. I really don't want to "upgrade" to windows 11 with my pc as I want to go for linux which is not even officially supported by riot. I'll have to look into getting a new pc with double the number of hard drives if they won't support it as I do plan on switching at the end of 2024 due to win 10 being shut down. The forever windows version ends and so does my average use of 6gb RAM just for the OS.

I run League in 4k on a 12 year old PC using a GTX 1070 and I still get a solid 140ish FPS WHILE RECORDING with MedalTV and having 3 active monitors being run by that single GPU. It would suck to have to turn down the graphics, but I feel like they have room to work with in terms of not slicing off the playerbase, because the game as it is will run well on anything that has a discrete GPU in it.

I find this news difficult to hear. Not too long a go, a Year and 7-8 months to be somewhat precise, a friend of mine who worked at Riot told me that the reason he quit his dream job is because he had seen a tangible code base that was proof of match rigging, alledgedly, (EOMM, losersqueu, w/e), both he and I quit the game (aside from casual play with friends) he at dia 1 and I at Plat1-2. I can imagine the employees care, I can imagine individual devs care, but the game not having competive integrity and this being confirmed to me really killed it for me, its a shame, if they ever stepped away from these types of systems I would be back in a heartbeat, I have been playing skillbased solo player games since (Hollow Knight no hits, Touhou, that sort of thing).

I really hope they will move to a better engine. Also they have Valve with CS2 and Dota2 as an example what they should and shouldn't do while moving. This step is necessary I think, as you all know every champion placed wall is still an invisible minion.

Cool to hear most of this, but there is no excuse for that client, especially the years it created "phantom" games sometimes after you finished a game that would just not let you start another one for like 4 hours. it's not great now but it used to be unaccaptable.

Wild Rift really in my opinion was set up to be league of legends 2. the animations, the play style, etc but never took off from mobile only. It could be a successful LOL2 if they made it on PC. They arent releasing all champs, items/runes are changed, list goes on

I would hope that we'll see some love and money put into unifying wild rift and PC. Even if I don't like young draven and young Darius, most of their models and art direction is good, and it seems like the game has a wide variety of compatibility modes for older phones like Texture quality and etc, so it'll likely be compatible with most computers anyway. The biggest thing I think they will struggle with is porting every skin.

i think its more likely that the last point talks about something like a arcane game or film etc. Its now beside league and valorant their newest franchise and they want to exspand on that. Else its a engine update that allows Phreak to do even more absurd ideas. Just wait for them to add a character that directly changes the map.

Fun over fair feels like im gonna have even more fun playing against the "fun" champions on any of the 130-some non "fun" champions.I cant wait to have fun against even more dashes and oneshots.Its a game of 2 sides.If you leave fair out you just sent 50% of the players down the drain and that already doesnt sound too much fun.Or is there any other interpretations of fair aside of balancing related issues?

Yeah thats what im worried about. The new game mode was supposed to be fun and it is, but only if you either 1:arent playing against any of the 15 or so giga broken champions or 2: ARE playing one of the giga broken champions.

I mean that's just an issue of a competitive game that is being constantly updated and design philosophy is being pushed further and further. As time goes on people expect more and more out of champions and want new crazy things to look forward to playing. Champs like Amumu or Mundo would never be made today because their kits are way too simple and not really exciting to play.

I've been saying this for a long time and people keep telling me I'm crazy. Screencap this. Wild Rift was built from the ground up and coded in Unity. Because they're starting from scratch, they were able to make an amazing client with no issues and no major game breaking bugs. There was no way that Riot would ever build a league of legends 2 from the ground up, because that would cost way more millions than they would ever make back... except, they did just that for Wild Rift. Because of that investment, WR introduced league to a ton of casual players who play mobile games and not PC games. So Riot was basically able to fund WR's development and even make money from it by bringing it to mobile. But here's the catch: Unity is a HIGHLY portable engine. WR has almost adapted nearly all of the PC champions into WR, and they might even finish the whole roster by 2025. See where I'm going with this? Here's my prediction: Arcane releases in November 2024. People watch it through the holidays, season 14 finishes up... right when the finale drops, BAM. Riot drops a league of legends 2 announcement out of nowhere at the peak of hype when everyone is buzzing about the finale. People are afraid of starting out as a noob player in 2023, with VERY good reason, but when EVERYBODY jumps on board following the Arcane finale, there will actually be a good amount of new players learning the game together, and getting into the game won't be as daunting. Plus, since the game won't be made out of spaghetti this time around, we'll have an actual good tutorial, hard difficulty bots, and a ton of other quality of life features that will really make league the most popular game in the world, as the barriers to entry will be much lower than before. You can tell me I'm on copium all you like, I KNOW I'M RIGHT!

League of legends mmo- which will heavily take inspiration from existing lore. i guess their safest approach would be some diablo style style mmo, class system is easy they can just reuse some current league champions on several no name characters you make. explore the world of runeterra. pvp is ez its literally just league. pve is basically jungling. quest is bread and butter kill this, collect that, get equipment, get mount, buy and sell items. the only thing that i want is trading. idk if although riot does have they money to create an mmo to go against industry giants like ffxiv and wow style mmo, league lore is so rich, theres the default cities of demacia noxus ionia freljord piltover just to name a few. if league is that focused on their lore legends of terra is certainly keeping the lore updated and healthy.

Make towers tankier for gods sake. Dont let one broken sion/trynda/trundle push your whole base when u leave him for 30 sec. I dont mind that one mistake in late game teamfight ends the game instantly but its not the case anymore. And the worst part is to contest this top laner u need to send your toplane/mid lane. Adc cant stand ground against such monsters alone and he is neded in team fight suport cant do shit and jg is usually 2 levels down to top laner.

No way or reason for changing the actual game engine, but the client has to be changed, for real. It has to be smooth, modern, and bugless. This would really be nice. And of course advanced practice mode etc.
