@tdoran616 yeah they said in the playstation access KZbin video that it's the PSP version my guess is that disney and lego did that is because the xbox 360 version of lego star wars 2 which is just an enhanced/remastered version of the original xbox version of the game which is equivalent to that PS2 version of the game is backwards compatible(the xbox 360 version is) with xbox one and xbox series X/S so because of that why re release basically the exact same version to playstation when you can re release basically the same game with nearly the same graphics but with the exclusive prequel trilogy/lego star wars 1 levels which none of the other versions of the game have plus its great because then you can just play those 3 exclusive levels to unlock the lego star wars 1 characters instead of having to play lego star wars 1 to have save data from that game to unlock those characters in lego star wars 2 or alternatively in the PS3 and Xbox 360 remasters of lego star wars 2 buy the lego star wars 1 character DLC pack for $1

You forgot to mention that the challenge mode is what unlocks the Lego Star Wars 1 characters, opposed to the 'Use Old Save' extra on the console version (or the DLC on Xbox 360). Also most of the glitches that you mentioned are issues on actual hardware as far as I remember, particularly the buggy faces.

Ngl i was pretty disappointed when i found out Mos Elsey Cantina was empty on the PSP version, i remember on the 360 i caused so much chaos with the NPCs on that game, so with the PSP Cantina being empty is a huge disappointment

The PSP version was how I was introduced to Star Wars. Also, I remember the issue of the split second Star Wars theme during the transitions. Glad to know it wasn’t just me lol

man i immediatly fell in love with the psp version when i found out about it cuz it adds back cut content (lsw1 boss battles and challenge mode, yes challenge mode was supposed to be introduced in lsw2 but for some reason it was cut, time constraints i image) and also everything looks greyish blue for some reason it also has this bug in free play dagobah where if you switch characters near a specific wall you get teleported upwards, unsure if its in the console and pc versions

I've played this on a PSP 3000 and with the max overclock the game runs much improved, No matter what the game will dip in fps depending on the level geometry and characters on screen.

Just picked up a psp and hacked it up played this game with my partner they used their vita in psp mode and it works amazing we are gonna be working through the entire game as I only ever got 99% on my ps2 back in the day.

As someone who has 100% the PSP version of Lego Star Wars 2 I can confirm that there are graphical glitches but not as bad as this video shows. Also that black smoke is actually dark gray and transparent Update: I checked and the Star Wars theme does play In between rooms on original hardware

Being critically honest-this is a review, after all-I appreciate your objective (and sometimes subjective) take and analysis of the game. 👍 I am an extraordinarily enthusiastic fan of Star Wars, and I am an ardent fan of the Lego games. Needless to say, I have played every version on every console of Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy-except the PSP version; the PSP version of the game has eluded me somehow yet it was arguably always the one that was the most interesting (e.g., Prequel Boss Battles as well as how it played like the PS2 console version, only slightly scaled back in terms of resolution and textures). Whilst it is strange [that] I have not yet played it, especially since I own a PSP, I am inclined to track this one down, thus satiating that nostalgic itch. I enjoyed the video enormously, mate. Usually it’s the unique textures that are the higher quality ones, the more common are scaled down, other than that it’s just what the dev wants to be high quality

The only difficulty i had with this game, was that one of the C3PO panels, appeared as R2D2 one. But then i realised that it was a bug, and got the blue minikit. Edit: It was dagobah mission btw.

@@Nostalgic9080 Maybe it was because of the version being bugged or something like that, I'm not sure, so there is a certain possibility that it isn't gonna appear in your gameplay of that level. It was in the section before the fight with Vader.

Givin u a comment, since I discovered RetroAchivements and feeling like a fool going through it on an original PSP instead of emulator recently. But you're right about textures, seems like PSP was renderering textures in a bit extra res comparing to its screen res, also it's awesome that's it's a "full" version of the game that came on a bigger consoles. But it's long as hell and sometimes break your eyes if you play it well... on psp)

Challenge mode wasn't in gamecube because the first game existed on it and all you need to get the characters is a save file of the game

Going in the prequel boss fights there wasn't any graphical glitches on the actual hard ware as far as i remember anyway

I did play this game on real PSP 3000 and facial expresion are broken there, I don't THINK that black smoke showed up for me in cloud city, Frame Rate is rather choppy, I do remember sounds cutting of, I don't remember if studs clip in to the floor but I can say that this version clearly has worse collision and AI of my partners was less relaible (I got soft lock on 4th episode of ESB cause Luke got stuck in those wierd barrel things with bats while playing super story). Also whenever I entered PSP into sleep mode Auto Save was Disabled.

I actually prefer this version because of the extra additions besides the fact that the characters you unlock do not appear in the hub, the cantina is always completely empty

One notable issue I noticed while playing on official hardware: the game will not save if you have a large Memory Stick size (i.e. a Memory Stick with a MicroSD slot). Seems like it only saves with smaller sizes, but I never tested it out further to confirm.

It’s because the game came out before those larger cards came out. If you play an old PSP game on UMD you sadly must use one of the smaller and older memory sticks to save properly. I have a separate stick just for launch and early psp games

The PSP never got Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga because the developers lacked enough resources to make it.

So on hoth battle level the game run worst on the psp and that because of low refresh rate on psp screen but on emulator you wont notice it

I wonder if they're any exclusive cusom character parts in this version of the game because I know on the DS version there was an option to use a classic yellow minifigure head, a red torso with yellow hands that says the word LEGO in yellow on it, a yellow lightsaber weapon, a black lightsaber weapon, and a rainbow lightsaber weapon when scrolling through parts while making a custom character

I don't think it was that, I think they just couldn't fit every thing on that small disk. Its actually the reason TCS never made it to the PSP
