I still used 7 up until 2016; went to 10 because a few apps I used needed 10. For all its faults, I'm sticking with 10 and not moving to 11 because it's basically spyware, especially with Microsoft's planned "AI spies on everything you do" feature.

Waterfox still supports Windows 7. It was initially released as a 64-bit version of Firefox before 64-bit became the mainstream. The x86-64 bit installer for Libre Office means that it is 64 bit. I've seen other programs that use that naming convention to delineate their 64-bit installers as x86 architecture, 64-bit. If it were a 32 bit installer it would simply be x86. I use VLC player on Linux to watch bluray discs. It's not as straightforward as simply putting the disc in and playing it, but it works. Was that the latest version of Steam you installed? I forced Steam to stop updating on my Windows 7 machine so that I could continue using it, but I wonder if that was necessary.

I have my all time fave Diablo 2 LOD expansion pack runniny in XP compatibility mode without a hitch if my ancient system don't keep on crashing due to thermal error.

you spent most of the video using the basic vga driver which is why its performance was rubbish. I have a haswell (4400) with windows 7 and a raptor lake (13100) with windows 11 - but made to look like windows 7 (via startallback mainly) and in normal use I cant tell any difference

One thing that Microsoft nailed with Vista was the design, love Aero, wish they went back to that design

And say what you want about Windows Me...but the Upgrade version built on top of a solid copy of 98SE was flawless. I deployed dozens of Me machines back in that era and they ran for months at a time with no issues.

I'd love to make a windows xp mod as an art project! I'd put files for users to explore and maybe even a point and click game. Those bootlegs like gold edition may be bloatware and tacky but it's a genuine art form with lots of potential. I was inspired by a "horror edition" mod that unfortunately is a virus instead of "operational bootleg".

The question is what is connecting to your Win7 box without you being aware.

I have XP Professional 64 on a 2013 Dell Optiplex 3010 and a 2013 Lenovo M92p. The only driver I had trouble finding was for a TP-Link USB Wifi dongle. XP64 drivers are thin on the ground, as they say. And wifi isn't stable with that unit. I can't find an XP64 driver for a TP-Link PCI-e wifi card that actually works and is visible to the OS. It's important to make sure you install the chipset drivers for XP or XP64 on old hardware. The USB dongles I have didn't even show up without the chipset driver installed. Note that the Intel SSU.exe utility won't run on XP64, at least on my old PCs.

Man i loved XP, so much i didn't want to change it. I was so based on this OS.

Windows 7 can run Virtual PC. With ISA SoundBlaster emulation in DOS. With shared folders in DOS. With OS/2 virtual machine addons.

They Probably did this: Windows 2000 to Windows XP to Windows Vista to Windows XP then blame Microsoft for many bloatware openings cause the computer slow. They’re just to dumb to check the system requirements.

Old programs are running very fast on Windows 7 on my old computer. Also i still play Chess Titans, Purble Place and using Media Center. Also i downloaded 3D Pinball, which is originally came with Windows XP, and i also play Minecraft Alpha/Beta/Classic on it, and it is working very well, except windows 11. But it has low FPS, because graphics card are like **TRACTOR**.

I tried Brave browser on windows 7 and it works fine, you have just to download the 32bit version.

I remember booting up my aunts fresh new computer with Vista back when I still used XP. I very much liked the sleek design, new icons, very classy and inviting. Imo even Windows 7 which was better in every regard didnt match the quality look and feel of Vista, let alone later versions. They should take the Vista design approach, polish it up for 2024 and go for it.
