Being a good fighter and being a good coach are two completely different skillsets. A lot of the time these top level fighters dont even consciously think about how they operate, its just a natural reflex for them through both years of training/honing their style with a coach and natural abilities. Being good at something and understanding something to the level of being able to teach are two different things. Its like Deontay wilder trying to teach a fighter how to punch hard. It isnt like wilder punches hard because he has such a mastery of body mechanics and punching that he can pass on his teachings, he just... does it. Without thinking, without understanding. He has the right body mechanics and movement to be able to generate a lot of power. Lennox and Roy jones etc are similar. Just because they could do something proficiently doesnt mean they have such an understanding of boxing that theyre able to pass that on to another fighter. A lot of top coaches were mediocre boxers and a lot werent even boxers at all. I think that tells you all you need to know.

In football, there is a similar story that Glenn Hoddle used to get frustrated as England manager because many of the players couldn't do what he could do with the ball.

Clarke & the rest cannot emulate Lennox. I understand why they want Lennox to train them, but they are just not on the same level as Lennox. AJ possibly could of, earlier in his career. Likewise Wilder. Ultimately, Lennox style worked for Lennox. Mayweather can train many boxers but they won't be like him. Same with Mike Tyson
@cianburns86487 күн бұрын
Tbh advice is advice. As a fighter u should know whats best for u and if u wanna try things out u should try wait until ur comfortable. Whatever fraiser did in the ring was ultimately his decision. Its his choice to fight the way he did. I do think Lennox tries to teach the same way he fought but that might not work for everyone.

No disrespect to Clarke but I feel Lewis doesn’t realise how phenomenal he himself actually was. Deep down a lot of us are more aware of how human we are than the rest of the world and I have no doubt Lewis knew he was great, that being said if he thinks these guys can do something he did and get the same result he isn’t giving himself his flowers. I know a lot of people (myself included) think he’s both the best and most well rounded heavyweight to ever exist. Not even just his physicality his skill level too was elite. I don’t think this is what cost Clarke the fight but equally I don’t see anyone in the division right now who I think has the ability to adapt elements from his style and master them. If Lewis took a fighter like Moses who’s young new in the pro game and worked with him for years. Yes over the duration of a lot of camps and a lot of training sessions it could click but to spend one camp or 30 minutes with Lennox and expect to take enough from it to implement elements of his game is madness.
