I will Agree and Disagree at some points on Lidia. 1: her d/f+1 isn't bad d/f+1.2 Great recovery then d/f+1.3 KND on hit and 2nd hit Give Combo on CH. 2.d/f.1+2 that mid parry is Ridiculous u can spam a lot because it's safe. 3.her recovery 4.Strong 50/50 5.ff+2 Spamable on block check ur opponent with 2.4 after ff.2 6.The Fast u play more rewards u get. 7.Great Punishment 8.Spam Political Storm There are many things which makes her Strong she is a perfect tournament character When Lidia is on your Face Hellsweep or anything will come u check them with jab she can parry with b.2+4 In the End She is a Perfect Tournament Top 5 Character

@Mao Li dude the thing with df1 is, none is gonna press after df1 cause df13 gives a full combo.. It's about mind games and mental advantage, you don't wanna attack her after df1 if that move is blocked even tho it's like -5.. She keeps attacking even if ff2 is blocked since the move is only -2.. Also ff2 on block into step is great.. Many ppl don't know that step into uf4 has crushing properties

You said that her keep out ain't good but F1+2 is one of the best approach tools in the game.. The thing is that F1+2 is a two hit string which makes it easy to hit confirm.. The second string is mid 9 frames and also safe.. DF2 another great move at distance...

And crazy super OP high-tier characters like Ganryu, Kuni and other DLC characters are practically right after Lidia when it comes to winrate. Learning the matchup takes some time. Not so long ago, everyone was complaining about Kuni's winrate ... until they took a bit of time and effort to lab her or watched some anti-Kuni guides - it's the same with Lidia (which in addition isn't another annoying character who can hit you with some practically imperceptible projectile from across the stage, then perform a damaging followup or do flips all over it).

I think she is a little bit. Because she is the culmination of the taken devs knowledge, experience, and so on. They really wanted to make good strong likable charge character's. And with all the UPS and downs of dlc and seasons they definitely wanted Lydia to be a character with a medium low entry level but also a character that can hang high with the rest of the cast

Just because they're good at the game doesn't mean they've properly analysed the character. She's okay and has strengths but the people winning with her are extremely good and can probably do it with other characters. She's not used as much anymore so people don't see her as much. She's not gone through proper testing in an offline setting at all levels to justify putting her in top 5. Anyone that isn't one of the best players in the world very quickly realizes Lidia's weaknesses. So until they have a proper debate and substantiate their opinions, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt.

@@candasturan4559 they are not as good as players of most other characters at any given rank, because just by choosing Julia they get boosted a full color, at least. A red rank Julia plays more like a yellow-orange, for instance. The isn't anything wrong with that, some characters just have a very high power to difficulty ratio. I dabble in "easy" characters too, my main isn't even among my top 3 rank characters. But Julia's (along with others like Leroy, Paul, Alisa) I find to be too high. Too easy to play, too difficult to counter, too strong overall. It's just that when somebody is chestpumping @ me all like "i'm mighty ruler" and then I find out they're playing Julia - it doesn't mean literally anything to me.

Julia is definetly not one of the most difficult characters to play but she's def above average when it comes to difficulty. Even TMM mentioned that a couple times now. So while she is super strong not everybody can play at her at her average potential. Also I find it sad that people still focus on rank and use it to measure people's skills. I understand your point but I still find that comparison questionable. It's true that her abilities carry her further than a lot of other charcters but you still need to put in the required effort. In that regard I don't find her similar to Paul, Alisa or Leroy who all imo fall into the category you mentioned. I've been playing Julia for over at least 10 years now and I can confirm that. While playing other charcters on the side ofc. But that's just my point of view ofc 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@INecr0 I dont know where to start... her ff2 has superb recovery, it's very quick, hit or block she can pressure.. -2 on block means that she can still move around or frame trap you.. She has amazing approach tools in general, f1+2, and df2.. it's nearly impossible to interrupt f1+2 even if the first hit whiffs cause the follow up is 9 frames, afterwards you can just hit confirm each move of the string... - her 50-50 vortex (db3,2 UF4) it's necessary to get a frame advantage so that opponents can't backdash out of it, it's necessary to use it properly.. you do that if 1,2, b1+2 is on hit or cat foot position 4 on block.. I think that her punishment is great and frames in general not rarely giving her even +8, her b1+3 parry can give +17 which means that she can launch with 3,2.. Ending wall combos with 3,2 into df2 gives her great okizame, if opponent does sideroll you will have enough frames for guard break transition against the wall.. Her sidestep moves are underrated, SS2 forced crouch, SS4 safe launcher and SS into uf4 having high crush properties.. Also using df4 at range 2.50 2.60 makes this move great due to pushback, SS4, backdash or follow ups afterwards being great options depends on what opponents do.. I main her btw

Top players decide the characters' tiers based on tournament results as opposed to any in-depth analyses. Since Lidia has been one of the most consistent characters in South East Asia (Book) and Japan (Gen, Chikurin and Double), they're placing her at the top. Knee's idea of a character fundamentally built to be strong needs to have at least 3 things a good jab a good DF1 and a generic d4 Lidia meets this requisites Add her UF4 for whiff punish and her good movement and yoou have a very strong character. you don't need to use half of these tools in neutral, as you can make your game with just these 3 moves, and pilling up a few here and there like political storm and have the least amount of openings possible.

Her "chessy strats" are more stronger than the other characters. Easy to play, hellsweep with weird oki, hopkick block animation, stance mix-up on the wall, 1,2,4,4 last 4, recover like Hwo's backlash and etc. So they abuse that to get high ranks.

In a nutshell: Lidia's matchup is still downloading for tournament players that's why she's Top 5. It's pretty much a given that most tournament players have installed all the top tier characters matchup that's why they dont have a problem with it or tournament players pick a lesser known matchup but still top tier characters. Any future original tekken characters will apply to these as well, as long as they are generally top tier. But it doesnt mean they are "broken", what's makes them "broken" is everyone has to download them and how long does the download take. Of course there are characters out there that is still broken even if you installed them. But yeah objectively speaking Lidia is not stronger than Akuma, Geese, Leroy, Fahkumram, etc.

youre missing the whole point why lidia is so strong, she controls the pacing and neutral of the match when in the hands of a really competent player, her hellsweep is i16 and there are ways to make it not steppable quite easily, she has a hard to whiff punish punch parry for jab checks, approach tools out the ass, amazing mid checks and a dragunov low, she can control the pace and not have to take risks because the opponent has to press at some point, not to mention, her lack of homing tools doesnt matter because she plays alot on timing and also has multiple tools to catch her weak side. shes not top 3 for sure but shes up there. As for your critique on Julia, shes fine once you make the wall bounce punishable and take away the stomp wall combo

Hell no, in beginner and intermediates, she is still equally hard, and she becomes even harder because her counter hit launcher needs to commit to a string, for example, her magic 4 has to do 4,2 or 4,3. 4,2 is safe but its mid high, 4,3 on CH, it instant screws, but on block it is -10.

I think what it is with Lydia is on paper she's pretty mid right? No super super crazy frames, big weakness to sidesteps. But all round she's a pretty good character, and what I think makes her top teir in pro players eyes is what her press FEELS like to go against. When she does get the good frames she does have and her stance pressure starts, if feels crazy to go against. That just my prospective ofc, the fee I've faced that pressure game just feels crazy to go up against

Yeah, tho. She is a focused stance mix up character. For example, Heaven and Earth stance has 3 options. HAE 2, its a chunky low that is -13 and ch launches. HAE 1+2, this is her guardbreak in HAE, its a high and grants Lidia +14, if she has rage, it can become guard breaking launcher with ff2+3. And if you saw HAE 1 and 1+2, there is one crucial problem, guard crouching beats both of the options, and thats when HAE 1 comes into play, its a mid launcher that is safe.

Lidia's strong because she has a very good kit +++++ and this is what makes her the strongest... is that people don't know the match up too well. Geese, Akuma etc. etc. are all strong not because they have a very good kit, but they have a godly kit. But just how many "top 10" characters have you played against? You pretty much know the strings yourself without even playing those characters... just through sheer experience playing against them. It's like the same with King's chain throws. Chain throw pretty much does like 80% of your HP if you don't know the break for it. Otherwise, it's just a decent option. People don't know the match up too well, because when she came out, she's been already labeled as mid-tier. And so, why the fuck would tier whores try to lab her? Of course now that is changing... but she's STILL a very solid character much like other "mid" -tiers like Dragunov, Bryan etc.
