The guy and girl who said that Dallas has the better food and agreed that Dallas has the worst traffic proved to me they don’t know what they are talking about. Born and raised in Texas and I have lived in the DFW for years and have visited Houston multiple times. Houston is absolutely more diverse in the food and has horrific traffic. The man who said traffic in Houston lasts the whole day is not lying.

Houston for culture and Dallas for corporate/settling in a nice neighborhood. The strength of Houston is in the city while the strength of Dallas/DFW tends to be in the suburbs which makes Houston the more urban option of the two. Heat is not as humid in Dallas. Both areas are super diverse whereas Houston is more of a melting pot (to me) while Dallas is more like a salad. Houston also has bigger brand universities located within the city of Houston (Rice/TSU/U of H).

Sounds like you’ve found the best of both worlds in each city! I totally agree-Dallas is great for jobs and staying active outside of the party scene, but Houston’s got that culture and next-level food. It’s hard to top the food in H-Town, for sure! What do you think it would take for Houston to close the gap with Dallas in areas like jobs and overall growth?

@@DallasRelocationGuide You may not like this but it's the truth. Houston is not as appealing to white folks as Dallas is so it will always be a step behind to Dallas. And actually for many years Houston was further behind than it is now to Dallas so progress has been made but it won't ever beat Dallas. Also Houston weather, air quality, and flooding is another huge negative. Dallas is the most appealing city in Texas to all races regardless if people agree with it or not. The facts speak to that. It's been the fastest growing metro area in the state since forever in every metric

Over the years I feel like Dallas traffic has gotten worse than Houston’s… I live in Houston, and I can get around as long as I avoid the peak hours and certain highways. I grew up visiting family in both (all areas in the two cities) and now have lived in both about 5 years a piece through my 30's into my early 40's. From my experience Dallas is more family and 'I'm done with the night life' leaning. There are some nice spots for Black folks, but nowhere near as many as Houston. Even my cousins that visit from Dallas say Houston is 'nonstop' 😂. They come here to Houston to 'cut up'...As for H-town, it's more for the folks that aren't thinking anything about a family for the most part. Strictly making money (Hustle City USA) in many ways especially the medical and energy industries and thoroughly enjoying the night life (work hard, play hard). Houston starts partying on Wednesday and doesn't stop until Sunday Funday is over. You can close your eyes and throw a rock and hit a Black owned restaurant and or bar and lounge in Houston and meet folks from all over the social spectrum. Just my experiences of the two cities. Glad to be back in Houston. Musically and culturally, Houston is to Texas as Atlanta is to Georgia or NY to the East Coast. And yes, the food here is ridiculous 💯 Maaaayyyyyyynnnnnneeeee! ✌🏿😂

Now, recently, I've wanted to check out the Carrollton area. So hopefully, next time I'm down that way, I'll be able to do so. The Eullus area may be an area for me to check out as well, but my whole thing is for someone like myself, I prefer to be near the airports when I move. Right now I'm about 50min from the airport in KC and it's annoying. If I need to fly to Chicago. KC or out East once I move, I'm going to want that convenience. Dallas metroplex is better, (Arlington with Six Flags, Frisco etc.) looks, kept better as far as appearance in roads, landscaping and everything nationally comes through Dallas as far as entertainment, better Fine Arts, State Fair is better compared to Houston's Rodeo, and Dallas easily has the best metro rail system in Texas. Houses are cheaper in Houston but my house here in Dallas has also doubled in value because of the growth. (Trinity Groves area, Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, Lower Greenville comes to mind. The Midpark (formerly Valley View) project will be the icing on the cake if they can ever get it going). Overall, I'm BEYOND glad that I purchased a home early near the "high 5" area in North Dallas at an unbelievable price (and low interest rate) in 2014 before the boom started and I like the direction that our city is going as well.

I’m from Houston but I moved to DFW back in March. Honestly i thought Dallas would be better but I was wrong. I actually think it’s worse up here than down there. The traffic is worse. Everyone has an attitude. People don’t speak here. The racism is worse than Houston. The way people drive up here scares me.. they drive like they don’t care for human life. Houston is cheaper. I had a one bedroom back in Houston for only $800 a month. I have now a one bedroom up here in Dallas Fort Worth and I’m paying $1250 a month. It’s ridiculous. I miss Houston. People pretending be super rich when they are just every day working class people like everyone else. Houston is bigger, more culture, better food, more events, better nightlife, has a beach, better sports culture, better higher ed institutions, and despite what Dallas may think there are more lucrative industries in Houston too with the world's leading medical center, energy, the port of Houston, aerospace, construction, the arts, and more fortune 500 companies. @DallasRelocationGuide Houston's Black population is a mix of Louisiana Creoles, Afro-Latinos, Caribbean people, and hella Nigerians. This population of diversified Black folks adds a unique texture of Blackness that Dallas does not really have. Because we have this diversified waves of Blackness, it makes the night life bolder. When you look at the Southwest side, it is full of opulance, and many of the Blacks on this side of town are urban professionals and entrepreneurs, so this leads to a lot of over the top venues that Houston has. Now Dallas, in my opinion, is cool and it is laid back. You all have great food and the night life is cool it is not as elaborate as Houston's night life. You all have great suburbs. Pretty much you all are the lighter side of Houston because we have similar accommodations, but they are just packaged differently. Honestly it depends on what you are looking for, for one houston is much bigger than dallas( thats not including plano, mckinney, the colony etc) houston has culture, nightlife, entrepreneurship is even well in houston and depending on where you live you can get more for your buck when it comes to housing, houston renting wise is also cheaper than dallas. Dallas is great if you want to start a family, corporate America and if you're not into much of anything. I've lived in the city downtown/ kessler park/white rock are since moving to dallas and honestly those are the only areas that i would live in unless i purchase land. In the suburbs everything is the same such as concrete and no greenery, but they are building to where you dont have to come to the city. I think dallas is great place to live but if you want to have fun just travel! Oh and theres always of course someone in celebrity wise in dallas, and if you know the right people you will know to get into the elite clubs that they offer. Just my opinion

Relo'ed to North Dallas from Detroit in 2012. It was either there or Pearland as our two options to move to. I have family in Houston and been to it many times as a tourist. Here's my take. Dallas can be "hoity-toity" as Houston can be "hood" but when it comes to careers, if your in the tech field, Dallas is the spot. If you're in the medical field? Houston. When it comes to food, Houston is better. It was already good before Louisianans came due to Katrina, but after? It went up another level. Crime is every where so I won't speak on that however when it comes to dating, Dallas is safer, Houston is turning into Sodom and Gahmora. When it's comes to traffic. Dallas traffic is getting bad as far as congestion but Houston traffic is ridiculous due Fast and furious on the freeways. Living expense. It's cheaper in Houston. Weather. Flooding and hurricanes in houston and HUMIDITY! Dallas I Heat. Just straight dry heat.

I think it’s different strokes for different folks. The people that like to be in the streets all day everyday usually prefer Houston for the nightlife/club attractions, etc. No, Dallas is not huge on nightlife, but Dallas folks who live here and have friends have our spots and little places that we like to stick to for casual fun to end the night. I grew out of my partying phase quite fast so it’s not anything I feel like I’m missing out on. Last few times I went out in Houston it was cool, but other than good music and folks just standing around drinking, I’m not understanding what the big attraction is supposed to be. Dallas is more fast paced in a corporate/professional manner and things are always changing and developing. Houston does seems to have more of a traditional southern city feel and gives chill vibes. Houston folks gotta deal with them hurricanes and Dallas folks gotta deal with tornado. Both cities are very black, but Dallas by far is more segregated. Traffic is booty in both places, but Houston might be a little worse. Dallas is expensive, but living here in certain areas really does give a luxury feel. Even though I’m a Dallas girlie, I’m not a hater, I can fully admit that Houston has the food game in the bag above all Texas cities. I can’t remember a lot of times that I had bad food in Houston, even if the service was trash. Dallas food for the most parts leaves a lot to be desired, unless you go to the hood spots.

Clearly from my name I have a slight bias, but I lived in Both. Moved to Dallas for a better job, it was cool. But Dallas drivers are much crazier. They do what I call the “Dallas Special” when they get over 3 lanes all at once at the last minute”. Even had a driver hit me, stopped, then they hopped back in their car and ran off…I had to chase them to at least get their license”. Dallas ppl are a lot more rude than ppl in Houston. Dallas is also a bit more segregated as far as living areas. But Dallas does have some poppin’ spots. Jobs might be better in Dallas depending. I prefer Houston highways, but the homes and space is better in Dallas. But the vibe of Houston is better. Traffic continues to suck every day.

You cannot go wrong moving to either Houston or Dallas. Yes, traffic is worst in Houston. The reason why Dallas wins is simple, it is the nicer cities that part of the Dallas metro area. Dallas has better public transportation and DFW has way safer, richer, newer, better looking suburbs or cities around Dallas (Frisco, Plano, West Lake, Southlake, Coppell, McKinney, Grapevine, Las Colinas etc). When you move to Dallas you don't just get Dallas. You get Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Frisco, Irving, Garland, Addison, Richardson, Grapevine, Westlake, Southlake, University Park, Highland Park, McKinney, etc. A lot more gorgeous cities are part of the DFW metro and that is where Dallas wins big time. That is the reason why Dallas wins, it is because Dallas has better suburbs/Cities around it. Both places are amazing, Houston and Dallas are like two of the best places the USA has to offer and two places that do not get enough credits for how amazing and beautiful they are

DALLAS FELL FROM GRACE years ago when San Antonio knocked them off their snobbish high horse and snatched the #2 spot and if trends continue Austin and Fort Worth who both have over 900k in city populations will do the same taking #3 and #4 making Dallas #5 being that it is barely over 1MILLION in city pop. Careers HOUSTON IS SECOND TO NEW YORK as far as Fortune 500 companies. ALSO ENERGY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, MEDICAL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD and Pioneers of Space Exploration. Houston stands alone unlike Dallas who always need Fort Worth whos city population will soon equal or surpass theirs. Houston Galleria is the largest mall in Texas built by Hines a Houston development company who also buil the one in Dallas. Dallas is a copycat PENNZOIL PLACE (H) 1975 Fountain Pkace (D) 1986 ROBOCOP 2 H) ROBOCOP 3 D) etc HOUSTON has multiple skylines 10 total. And skyscrapers are taller in Houston....not just a Texas city but a GLOBAL ECONOMY. FACTS so 🛑❗

Houston’s just ghetto for me. And I’m from Houston. It’s a flat swampy ghetto. It’s just a city built around car centrism and lack of zoning. It has deep culture and arts but it’s boring tbh. Just food and clubs. I feel like Dallas is more urban. They have a large and robust public rail system and everything feels more densely centered. People always seem to be on the go. They have a far more diverse economy allowing for that fast paced lifestyle, while Houston’s more of a oil and blue collar city

Houston - better city Dallas area - better suburbs Dallas is better for your career as they have more options due to a more diverse economy, more order and cleaner. Houston is better for social life with more diversity in people and culture. Both are more similar to each other than they are different. Both are hot but Dallas is slightly more drier resulting in higher temperatures. Houston is more humid, swampy, and rainy.
