I am planning on riding around town just to get around, nothing too crazy and try to avoid steep hills. However, I am planning on making a career in music, so I wonder if I should not be longboarding. What do you think? I don't want to just get rid of the board, I bought it from a friend and I like it. Help

See my answer here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4WlgZaja8-Kps0 . But it seems you already have a board, what type is it? Smaller boards with small hard wheels are tougher to ride and may be riskier for you. Also depends on where you'll be riding

@@RidingBoards I don't know what kind it is, but I know it's pretty much your standard longboard with maybe like 3-4 cm diameter for the wheels and the board is about half a meter-ish. I ride it around the city usually avoiding steep hills and paths that lead right to crosswalks. I just use it to get around a little faster and have some fun. I have a bike, but I live in an apartment and it's in the basement storage. Feels like I don't want to have to lock it up outside for such a short commuting.

@@comicsans7437 3-4cm wheels is very small, you'd want bigger wheels (65 to 70mm) to safely roll over anything. You want them on the soft side (78a) and with good quality urethane (e.g. Orangatang or Nineball). But you also have to make sure the bigger wheels will fit on your deck without wheelbite, which brings us back to the deck shape and size. You can go to ridingboards.com/community and post a new comment there with a pic of your longboard for some valuable feedback.

@@RidingBoards I was wrong, the wheels are about 7 cm. I had measured with what I remember to be about a cm with my fingers cause I didn't have a ruler handy. Also please take it easy with the professional longboard terms and vocabulary as I am new to this and don't get it at all. I also thought that longboard meant longboard and can never mean skateboard xD
