The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means 'deceit'. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. I think when we try to interpret something in English from Arabic it gets lost in translation. Islam is a religion of peace, not saying all Islamists are peaceful people (either). Obviously there are a select bunch, like in any religion who are, well....extremists.
