Born and lived there for 30 years. I personally saw how the town went from being a safe place to live to a town where you didn't want to go out at night and there are a lot of areas you just don't feel safe at all. My last visit, I parked in the arndale car park, walked into the shopping centre and the first thing I saw was a guy unconscious, covered in blood and people stepping over him! So sad!

Well I think it's harsh. Yes Luton is dull and not the most pleasant place, but you're essentially in a place with excellent proximity to London for a fraction of the price. And the town has a long history as well, it is not a soulless 'new town' like Stevenage or MK. Luton just gets a bad rep for no specific good reason - it is no worse than the likes of Stevenage or places like Grimsby. (that's NOT to say it's good, just that it isn't necessarily the worst either)

Answer-yes. When I visited it for the first time, within 15 min saw a major example of road race on apparently nothing. Rubbish everywhere and whole neighbourhood's that can easily be in Pakistan. Truly well deserved

I'm not going to ever defend Luton, but essentially it is no worse than Grimsby, Middlesbrough, Bracknell or Blackpool. Luton has an undeservingly bad reputation when it is not much different than plenty of other crap towns like these. I'm actually going to say Stevenage is worse, at least Luton has decent transport connections.

Luton has an airport, train station, bus/coach station, libraries, schools, university, mall (even people from Hitchin and Bedford go there for shopping), hospital, supermarket chains, retail parks, all the amenities, a diverse, cosmopolitan and multicultural society. There's an annual carnival to celebrate the different cultures of Luton. It's close to London but cheaper than it. I've been to places far worse than Luton. Luton is only bad to those who hate ethnic minorities.

Its the worst place to live in terms of the state of properties, the amount of people on hard drugs smoking in public, the main occupations being prostitution, drugdealer and Amazon . People from luton all seem to get onit with their parents and its normal to do that . Its a completely different world and its crazy !! The crime rate isnt as high as other places but thats cus its a small town and wouldbt even be the equivalent of one borough in say London or something so its not a proper comparison in that aspect . But anythings a go in Luton its the norm

The worst thing that ever happened to Luton was all the shops dissapearing and nightclubs closing ... what a tragedy. I think my generation was the last to enjoy the local nightclubs. They need to quickly bring businesses back here and it will become lively again. In regards to safety, it's the same in every city. If you really want to feel safe just lock yourself in a cupboard.

As a Dutch Moroccan i lived for a year in Luton, ( 2018) and to be honest i really loved it. Maybe because there is a big North African Community over there. I specially loved Bury Park.

As far as I know it was about the worst Town to live in England that means its not the worst place to live in England we all know that. Having been to Barnfield College up to fifty times at night walking North from Luton Station about a mile nice and clean and even bits of green no problems.

Barnfield college is terrible experience for me I didn't like it at all unfortunately. It is difficult to find a job in Luton and yes it is a poor town less activities nothing interesting just plain boring there is no excitement and I disagree about clean it's never clean I see foods litters been thrown out the sidewalks roads that needs to be sorted out as they care less about environment it's sad to see more homeless around town centre not being treated with respect I gave them pennies because I lived with a respect and good personality I want the council to help out people that are suffering from unemployment because we don't wanna see more homeless people and that hurts me to know that we have been suffering for a long time
