When I was a cast member we could adjust wait times to push guests away or to different areas. They use magicband and cell phone tracking now but team leads can still override to make the times different.

Honestly, my family has been fine not going to any Disney parks for the past three years. Paying thousands of dollars for the privilege of waiting in miserable lines all day is not my idea of “worth it.” Save your money, people. Go to the beach instead.

I was in front of her in line at Gideons last July. She started talking to the staff and I immediately recognized her voice. They thought she was a cast member. Then the family behind us recognized her and started asking a million questions. I just smiled and fan girled on the inside.

The editor was really fun on this one. My son and I like to make up back stories on people we see while waiting in line. Nothing insulting, just fun things like they are a spy and such. We also make up silly back stories of things we see in the lines, as far away from the real back story as we can get.

When me and my mom were riding, they told us they were adjusting the wait time and they just gave us a little lanyard and the next cast members knew exactly what the time was.

I went to magic kingdom the other day and I was disappointed by how outdated most rides were. Disneyland those a better job at updating rides like Snow White and it’s a small World. Like small world was hard to watch. The ceiling and backgrounds took you out of the immersive experience. It’s an easy fix. With the prices going up I would expect them to get updates.

We were there last week. It was a zoo. With Geni + and lightning lanes there were waits for everything. $15 per person then for instance Rise cost two people and additional $15 each and a 45 minute wait in a claustrophobic hallway. The ride was amazing but seriously. Also waking up at 6:45 am to cue at 7:00 am on your vacation sucks and it’s a frustrating process that can takes some time. We were not able to get on many of our favorite rides. Park reservations to control park capacity does not exist. Why are all these children not in school. We did find some Disney Magic but it took some work.

Those kids chanting for Tinkerbell totally took me back to my first Disneyland trip when we were watching the fireworks from the hungry bear restaurant and there was a kid running around the (mostly empty) restaurant with his light up Micky ears yell-singing "I Love Mickey Mouse, I Love Mickey Mouse I Love Mockey mouuuse" over and over. I thought that was the sweetest thing ever and his family was super apologetic to my mom but she thought it was adorable and it really wasn't bothering us. He was just a kid who wanted to make sure everyone knew how much he loves mickey mouse. To this day that is one of my favorite Disney parks memories.

We were there last week and every ride outside of Space Mountain and Jungle Cruise (the WORST) ended up under the posted time. Both Space Mountain and Jungle Cruise felt like they offered too many passes and several points during the ride queue we didn't move for ~5-10 minutes. Jungle Cruise was the worst at 30 minutes over posted (60 mins posted, 90 mins actual)! I know there will always be a skirt the long line option, but when we went about a year ago and they didn't have a fast pass option, our experience was soooo much better. Great video as always!

We just got back last Saturday, February 5th, after six days at the park. We had Genie+ and Lightning Lane passes for most of our days, but anytime we stood in line, it was half the posted wait time. Except in Toy Story land. Peter Pan, est. 80min., took 25 Jungle Cruise, est. 60min., took 30 ROTR, est. 70min., took 20 M&M Runaway Railway, est. 60.min, took 35 Almost every ride was significantly over estimated.

We had both experiences with standby the weekend before this past one. In Animal Kingdom part of our group did Flight of Passage which was posted at 105 and part did Navi River Journey which was posted at 70...both ended up being 120! Later that day we hopped to Epcot and did Remy which was posted as 150 but ended up being 100.

I can’t thank you enough for doing this. It must have been awful standing in the queues, horrified that some took longer. I can’t do the genie plus, so hopefully in years to come there will be slower seasons again. I went to Japan in 2019. The parks are very busy, you could still get paper fast passes and there was a lottery you could enter every day which would give you priority seating for shows and parades if you won, otherwise the other option was very long lines. Oddly We didn’t notice most of the time and the queue times were accurate throughout. Thanks again molly, dare we ask for more science 😊

I think it depends. I rode rise of the resistance twice the other day. First time the posted wait time was 120 and it took 140min. The second time the posted time was 110 and it took 75min. So who knows....

I was in standby all day at Hollywood studios and the wait times were pretty accurate except for Rise. It was about 20-30 mins off but it was still a very long wait. And the last Smuggler’s Run was a posted 20 mins but we waited 45… was way off in a bad way.

Jan 30 was super quiet at Magic Kingdom - probably because it was freezing! I'm from Canada so it didn't bother me at all! Walked on Haunted Mansion and then later rode via Genie+ when it was later and both were about 20 minutes to get to the entry show. We just didn't want to zig and zag around the long queues again since we had seen it all. Rode it a 3rd time on standby Feb 5 and 25 minutes posted was accurate but super disappointing that the doom buggy commentary was not working!

When we were there in January. The wait times were accurate but we noticed the ride capacity on most rides was not full. For example flight of passage they only had some of the screens open. They came on a speaker and said they were reducing capacity. We also noticed it at ride that had two loads like pirates and thunder mountain. The shorter lines were omnimover styke rides.

I was just at Disney World February 8 to February 15 and visited all parks. It was busy every day! Many foreign travelers which is a great thing but we all had pent-up travelitis. It still was a great trip, did Keys to the Kingdom tour and it was amazing + they got us on Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion for a VIP like experience.

Absolutely - we did Seven Dwarfs at close (after lightning lane had shut off for the night) and it took 25 minutes to get through when 90% of the queue line was packed. It makes such a huge difference!

i def think disney is struggling with posting there wait times… was just at hollywood studios Feb 7, and only got on two rides through 6 hours of being there. first was rise which we expected to be long but when I got on it ended being a 3 hr wait even though it said it was a 115 min wait . So 9:15 am to around 12:30 ish pm I waited for rise. then i got on tower of terror because it said a 80 min wait time… ended up waiting 2 1/2 hrs, worst part was even after that long i still had another 30-40 min to go. Had to get out of the line so i wouldn’t miss my LL for rock n roller coaster. Worst of all is i’ve been on rise at Disney CA so it felt soooo un rewarding to wait 3 hrs for it. Just waiting for ROTR and TOT messed up my entire day . I ended having to spend a lot of extra money on genie + so i wouldn’t miss any of the best rides when i park hopped. if your still reading this basically what im saying is you should be looking at the wait times as a way of deciding which ride to get on and not as an actually way of seeing how much time your gonna wait, cause it can say a 25 min wait time but you actually end up waiting 1 to 2 hrs and vise versa. Also don’t get on ROTR if you have already been on it unless you don’t mind your entire day being messed up if you had plans. If you honestly read all that i think your are really cool.

Back in the good ‘ol days, when we had FP+, we would fast pass the mine train for around 9:30 and rope drop Peter Pan and Pooh. We’d be able to do all of fantasyland by 10:00! So I will hate on Genie+ for ruining that! 😡

I would like it more overestimated than underestimated. Some rides we are going to ride no matter how long the line is . Well two hours limit but , still I would rather be surprised that it didn't take as long as it said than take longer than it said. Not sure why but I always end up complaining it we are not on the ride by the time it says.

I think this might have been filmed when I was at Disney a couple weeks ago based on the weather and crowd level...yeah Disney has been CRAZY busy recently. I'm not really sure what's happening. I spoke to a cast member who was was seated with me at Oga's and she said she thought it was a combination of the 50th and just everyone traveling again after not getting out much the last year. Wait times have been crazy, there was no slow season at all this January.

I do think WDW is getting a lot of travel originally intended for overseas. My trips to Isreal was cancelled because the US was considered hotspot. WDW was a sure bet and I just returned from there. It was busy during what was considered one of the slowest weeks of the year.

We always usually book our vacations for the first week of January, and i've got to say, this was our first January felt where the crowds felt quite manageable! Yes, even with the New Year crowds, it was amazing! Our second Magic Kingdom day we decided not to utilize G+ or ILL, so we got in line for SDMT around 9:10am. Posted wait was 80 minutes and it took about 50 minutes for us. The posted wait time did drop once we exited the line to 70, so maybe there were trying to make it a little more accurate, but TBH, the posted wait times never mimicked our actual wait time, at least for Magic Kingdom. Oh my gosh died at "Poor Nana?! Poor fatha!!" 😂 And "Waffling" - cue Donkey 😂

The wait times posted are incorrect. There is one little game our teams used to play is whichever team predicts the actual wait time (minutes & second) is higher or lower than the posted estimated wait time. Most of the time the results were the actual wait time is less than the posted wait time. Actual wait times vary.

We recently waited 2 hours for Remy and the. It broke down on Feb 1, 2022, and we got no compensation for our time. The cast member pretty much told us, “too bad, there’s nothing that we can do for you.” We won’t be back. Genie Plus is a rip off. The cost of everything is beyond ridiculous. You’d expect a certain amount of gouging but this is offensive.

We had an extremely short weight time for rise of the resistance once. I got the feeling that they knew that if they put the true wait time, the entire park would empty into Star Wars land. And it makes sense, because that would lead to a very poor experience for everyone. So I’m sure they manipulate their wait times to prevent problems. On the flipside, I wouldn’t be surprised if they post slightly lower times on some of their crowd-sucking rides like Pirates, haunted mansion, and the little mermaid.

Paige, i moved down here with a remote job. Beware. Florida and central florida in particular are very do-it-yourself places. Education in florida is bad, services in general tend to be bad to terrible. You will have to know how to maintain your car (some fool cracked my oil pan doing a $20 oil change and nearly cost me $400+ if i hadnt magically myself got it covered under warranty - it took 6.5 hours at a dealership with a bit of arguing about physics and organic chemistry). You lose a lot of people when you start talking about fractions. The state goverment doesnt function, you will have to do everything yourself if you interact with them, and you will constantly be managing everyone in general. The way you feel when you vacation at disney is very different from being in central florida on a daily basis, and standing in line all day at disney loses its charm pretty quickly. I really lucked out in that the pandemic hit when i moved and i did have a magical experience that first year. I got very lucky, but at 2 years in im ready to go, and i really wouldnt recommend moving down here unless you have an extraorinarily good reason. Youre far from the only person who thinks it would be fun, but you will encounter a lot of problems that you wouldnt expect if you live in other parts of the country. Good luck, and may all your dreams come true!

I WISH I could avoid the summer🥵… but with coordinating big family trips, (multiple households meeting down there), it seems impossible with all the different kids’ school schedules to do it any other time.😫 So this year, once again, the earliest we can all do it is well into June.
