I would like to see a video detailing the breakdown of Match Day revenue and how much is drawn in from - General Sale tickets - corporate tickets - matchday sponsors - food and beverage - merchandise... The reason for this request is because of a statement made on Sky Sunday supplement during a discussion on ticket prices in which one of the panel members stated that Utd could literally give the general sale tickets (including season tickets) for free and only see a 5% drop in overall revenue... If that’s the case then clubs shouldn’t be charging more than 15 quid a game as that is just greed...

chumpo ah German football teams have a law where the fans must own 51% of club shares (a majority), so that they have the power to veto anything their owner does. It keeps ticket prices very low, teams need less sponsorship, keeps the club firmly connected with its fans, and stops a rogue owner (Glazers) from doing what they want. They can also decide that, if their owner is not doing a good enough job (Glazers again) to vote them out of power. Man Utd could kick out Ed Woodward and the Glazers straight away under a 50+1 rule. Corbyn was talking about introducing a system like it which is good.

Manchester United should not be in the position they are in. It should be impossible to be in the position they are in. The financial advantages they - and every other top European team - now have should mean that the gap between them and 90% of the other teams in the league is unbridgeable. Yet Woodward has managed to do the impossible - take this indestructible brand and run it into the ground over six years of mismanagement so terrible it's virtually unprecedented in the history of modern football. And the fact that the Glazers haven't fired him or installed a sporting director tells you everything you need to know about their own competence.

They really haven't realised how fickle football fans are when it comes to foreign teams. There are probably 100,000 Man City fans in Shanghai alone, how many of them were Man Utd fans 8 years ago? Of course there are exceptions who go hardcore, I met a Leeds Utd fan in Thailand in 2010, when they were a League 1 side. But it's not the diehards who make you the money, it's the noodle sponsors and the people who watch the occasional game in the bar and buy a shirt for themselves, and one for each sobrin@ for their birthday.

When I was in Munich, Bayern played Bundesliga game against Hertha and a lot of people were in Bayern or Hertha kits. There was group of chinese tourists which entered in Bayern store and they all bought Bayern kits. By looking at them, maybe 5 people in that group would know to name 3 Bayern players.

G Yorkshire I live in Shanghai are there’s still a lot more united shirts you see than City, a hell of a lot more, or any other English club. However, how long this will last will of course depend on their success. I have no doubt things will change soon if United continue their sorry slide.

It really is astonishing how poorly run Manchester United are, the prospect for them to be the best club in the world is there, with the structure, history and reputaion there success post Ferguson was all there. Woodward has done exceptionally well in building Manchester United's financial dominance, but he's clearly not the right man to lead the footballing operations, to think he made such an idiotic comment as that just epitomizes his lack of knowledge in sports management. It's been clear for a while they need a Director of Footballing operations, and they've clearly been looking but they have so far not found a suitable candidate. They need to find the right man for the job as this person can make or break United. Clearly they need someone soon. My issue with them for a while has been there insistence on brining in a former player who has minimal experience, though they insist this former player has the clubs ideals in mind, they don't possess the knowledge as some do. Only Edwin Van De Sar can be considered good enough as a former player to lead the clubs vision, but reports say he doesn't want the job. They need to get someone and the right man soon, this club has lacked a clear vision for a long time, the chopping and changing has left the club with a slew of players who call suit different systems and are all on mixed lengths of contracts. The managers brought in all have had different styles and with that we've seen the club play in all sorts of ways, with that the identity of the club has remained unclear and that causes further confusion throughout the club. To fix all these issues they need a Dan Ashworth, Stuart Webber, or a Luis Campos, these guys all have done exceptionally well in creating sustainable clubs. All of these guys have bought bargain players that turned into gold or found young prospects that are currently some of the most interesting in the world, on top of that they have hired managers who fit these signings and the clubs style, all of these clubs have the structure to thrive and have done so with constant improvement. I recommend the Manchester United Board start really looking for this kind of staff member, they've half-assed it so far and its clear they need to give this there all, this will be the most important signing in the clubs recent history.

The shame is change is unlikely to occur until the finance suffer, and that is unlikely to happen soon with football is the biggest cash cow of all sports in the world, a mediocre Premier league team can easily have yearly earnings of billions, let alone a club such as United. what the Glazer and Woodward miss is that reputation takes time to build and destroy, and currently Man United is slowly sliding out of football fans interest, but when it becomes too late, it will take years to restore United to it's full glory. we need many changes before we can climb back up, we need a passionate management, talented coach and loyal footballers who value football more than changing their hair style week in week out. unfortunately none of these are likely to happen anytime soon or at all.
@orb58415 жыл бұрын
@@timmyfung01 Well, football isn't really the biggest cash cow in the world, the amount of investment and risk makes it not really as financially viable as a NBA or NFL, I think its financially on par with MLB currently. The rewards are there, but the NBA and NFL are bigger cash cows as the franchise makes these sports financially more capable. Even if it doesn't reach the same volume of audience its consistency makes it viable.

The transfer policy is quite simple: Continue to spend bigger than the competitors on main transfer targets. Only difference so far being that ManU's standing and potential swayed players in favor of ManU either way - that is now gone. They now spend bigger than competitors on 1B or even second shelf-options

What Ed Woodward has essentially done was cashing in on the goodwill of the MU brand towards sponsors. At the meanwhile sponsors pour in money based on the assumption that MU's brand will at the very least remain status quo. However with the lack of trophies and 'soul', now sponsors won't renew and it will be felt really badly when long term sponsors decided to either pull out or renegotiate at a much lower sponsorship amount during the end of sponsorship term

To be fair they don’t have that oil money that City has
@danielmeech24185 жыл бұрын
People always complain about City's oil money, saying they only win because they spend big. In the same 2013 - 2019 period, Man City spent around 1.1 billion, and Man Utd spent around 956 million. In that time period, Man City moved from 2nd to 1st, and Man Utd from 1st to 6th. If money made everyone instantly better, Man City would probably still be first, but Utd would be right behind. But that's clearly not the case. Yes, money makes you better, but to be the best you have to spend it wisely. Man City and Man Utd have spent almost the same amount of money. Any differences between the quality of the teams doesn't come down to 'oil money', it's just about making smarter decisions overall.

@@danielmeech2418 well there's a huge difference because Manchester united worked their ass off to reach that status, they won titles got tv sponsors, got history and legends and made that money, the owners came on because they're a big team cause they win titles, man city a league 1 standard team at that time suddenly got a madness boost with billions of money, no history, no big name suddenly getting billions of pounds, any club would be good with that amount of money even Colchester united would be champions league finalists with that money but would you say that is fair to other clubs like aston vila, Westham, leeds united? Who actually have history but not the money anymore.
@UncleHyena5 жыл бұрын
JN11 there is difference, if I am given resources who am I not to use them. If a runner was given all the training facilities for the olympics and another runner worked his ass off in a farm and the gym guy wins then the gym guys IS the better athlete no matter the means they are still powerful in the now and that’s the reality of City
@danielmeech24185 жыл бұрын
@@user-bo6yl5ni6s I never said Man City didn't suddenly get a lot of money. They did suddenly get a lot of money. My point was just that the two clubs have spent just about as much money as each other in last few years, but Man City is clearly the better team. It is wrong and incorrect to say Man City are the better team just because of their money. Clearly, they have made smarter decisions with that money and that's why they're ahead.

Rashford was handed a 200k/week salary before the summer ended and was going to be the main striker this season because Ole and the gang like Neville showed no love to Lukaku. Dont blame Ed on not signing a striker. Rashford was going to be our no1. However, Ole quickly and rightly so along with other pundits realized that Rashford is not a no. 9 and will never be a 20+ goal striker so therefore he pushed Mason Greenwood on us saying he is a better finished. It nuts!
