As of 13 Aug 2020, ManyCam version 7.5 is available. This new version allows one to drag and drop a whole Microsoft PowerPoint file into a source/scene playlist. This is much easier than exporting the PPT slides and then importing them into a playlist. Also, the virtual background has been improved with this version.

I happen to be a teacher too, well halfway across the world that is... Have to teach online thanks to COVID19 so I've been looking for ways to use my phone as a webcam, as webcam offerings are pretty poor atm. Good to see that Manycam has good latency. That's one of my main concerns with apps like these.

Hi, Jo! Thanks for the comment. I actually bought a big piece of bright green fabric and I hang it up on a roll-up banner (my physical iTutorGroup backdrop banner is on the other side, I just pegged the green screen over it). I don't have any links as I just picked the fabric up from a local market. Hope it helps! :)

That APK is wrong with Android 12, they do not update or improve it and lately the audio fails after 10 to 12 minutes, do you know the reasons or what should be done to maintain a decent transmission? It doesn't grab all the groups either, the ones that interest me and are mine to transmit aren't in the options, help. doesn't respond either. And they want everything translated into English.

So glad it helped you out, Levy. To fix the "mush" as you call it, you need to have your green screen very well lit. An external webcam also helps, as it has better colour recognition.

Great! I have bought the lifetime studio version as well... Using it with OBS (haven't you checked my video posted in the group? I've mentioned you!) - I have detected a glitch with Manycam... If it runs on background for too long (hours) and you open it again, it crashes... and it crashes Chrome as well! Few times. My desktop is a gaming machine, no way that it is a hardware issue. OBS never crashes for example. I'm running it 720p/30fps. I noticed that you selected 20 fps... Is there a reason to that? At first, I tried 60 fps, seemed not reliable with iTutor plateform :/

@@JoeMilneEnglish yep it did happen with Manycam 7... But I suspect the browser "Brave" to create a conflict as well... seems pretty okay with Chrome/firefox. The thing is, just turn on Manycam when you're about to teach. It does take CPU resources and RAM even when running on the background. Yea, OBS is absolutely awesome, I use both for my teaching, i'll tag you on the video :)

Hi Joe, I've watched your great video on the ManyCam tutorial, really helpful! I have a question, my frame rate is for some reason super slow and lags and I can't quite work out why? (Even at 30/60fps) I've tried pretty much everything I can think of from what I can find online. I'm using a mac book pro, with the internal webcam that came with the laptop; HD 1080p. Works great with my itutor class, but alas, manycam is just not playing ball. Any thoughts or ideas? Main Problem: super slow framerate for no apparent reason? Thanks a lot!

I reckon your inbuilt camera can't run at 60fps, but it should be fine at 30fps. ManyCam has had its fair share of people complaining about performance issues, I'd reach out to ManyCam support if I were you. 👍

Joe. We teach for the same company. You are a great teacher and user of technology. Thank you for that. I am in Manycam. I know that I cannot "put" a video clip into the lesson. I have tried. BUT.....I can put a layer onto my "pretty face" layer as an intro. For example, a snowman clip from Frozen is always an appropriate one for youngsters. The problem is, I can see that a student is using an iphone or android and the screen must be small small small. For those with a computer screen, not as much as a problem. I see a boy who is a Lebron James fan. A short clip of a "basketball dunk" by Lebron. Any ideas for including short video clips?

Yo, you actually can have a gif as your background. In order to do that use picture-in-picture with transparent background and add a new layer with a gif full screen behind you.

@@JoeMilneEnglish i started googling 'is manycam...' and 'a virus' was a suggested completion so i selected that and found that when some people downloaded the software, it automatically installed other, unwanted browsers, extensions, etc... even though you could choose NOT to download those - it did it anyway. i think one of the sites was from cnet: download.cnet.com/ManyCam/3000-2348_4-10593500.html could be old information too. Who knows?

Hello Joe, I am hoping that you will have time to reply to my comment as I am not sure who else to speak to about this. I taught a student today who was so obviously fed up and hating every second that she was clearly getting absolutely nothing positive from the material. As a result I decided to try and speak to her as a human being - it seemed really inappropriate to just ignore her clear unhappiness, and she wasn't going to learn anything anyway. I asked her how she felt about learning English and then we did manage to have a little bit of a conversation, although even then her replies were very stilted. Did I do the wrong thing? It just seemed inhuman (and useless) to ignore her true state and blithely go on with the material. I am not sure how the company would feel about this, but surely we have to relate to the students as human beings first if we are going to be at all effective?

Firstly, for things like this, the best way to go is to send a message via the CommCenter, particularly Education Quality Jr in this case. However, let me give you my thoughts. I think you did the right thing. I would've kept going back to talking about how she feels and trying to make her feel more comfortable and happy at the end of each page, just so that we would be checking off the material as we go, but not ignoring her state. You did the right thing. I hope it helps.
