Beautiful lack of ego really even in his own era some would prefer Paul Newman for instance so of course there is no sense comparing and competing with everyone his job as an actor was to entertain and give memorable performances he did his job though some films were better than others too and thats not just the fault of the actors either there is a whole collaboration involved directors editors the script etc.

Perhaps he didn't think or want others to think of himself as the greatest too. ... P.S. Just to clarify- Few of my blogs may have given off the impression that I was against Marlon Brando. And that would be absolutely incorrect. I thought he was a lovely cool guy. A very non-classical style actor, and not exactly of my general taste as a result, yet a pretty deep soul! What I was against was the unhealthy cult of much shallower souls that pitched their nest around him, owing to his highly (overtly & deeply felt) reactionary-dependant style of acting (which also, svp, gave an interesting yet a sort of depleting sameness to his portfolio I think), to form a 'band of rebellious immorality-worshipping actors' anchored to his form, with or without his acquiescence, and created the new Hollywood age that changed perceptive American culture to the extremes thereafter, and that barring the artistic force of only a few handful of actors of the new era, that could not brave the dark tide.

I don't care for this guy, I don't agree with his opinion of dogs, but I wonder if he was joking because the dog happened to be there at that moment. I do like his idea of the sickness of having to see someone as the greatest whatever. Everyone has value is a better way to view some things, but not when someone has a job to do, then that person should be the best available at that time.
