My main issue with tenpai is the field spell and the lvl 10 synchro. One makes all your dragons a tower and the other is a skill drain on crack during the battle phase. No interaction allowed. That sucks for me. I understand that Yubel and Snake eyes are still strong as always but that does not justify printing basically two floodgates that say "you can't do anything to your opponent", which is the most problematic thing for a lot of people

just transcedent dragion (the level 10) is a pseudo floodgate, the field spell is just protection but you're right with both takes. Tenpai can also easily play shifter and still otk sometimes and also link into hieratic seal and tribute itself on the oponent's turn to summon any dragon from deck, including koa'ki meiru drago to stop any light/dark monster from being special summoned.

Tenpai's design is literally just hey no interaction. Stun is the same thing, your opponent can't interact with you. Tenpai is no better. It's searchable, cohesive stun.

Theorically, even if Sangen summoning is at 2, we still have less copies of it than the tcg/ocg cause they have terraforming and terraforming is also searchable by ttthrust And the tcg has 3 prosp we have one, shifter is at 2 which is a little hit but its one, its gonna be fine, tenpai is strong but it will be fine

I won against tenpai a few times last night. Using stun snake eyes and yubel are nothing. But tenpai can be a problem if they draw the destructive cards . I only play 3x solem . But is a good deck that can clear all the negates of this 10 min combo decks

I dogged 5 tenpai players using Gachiri on my Terahertz and its funny watching them use all their board wipes trying to get rid of Terahertz bcuz they dont read Gachiris Effect

The labyrinth and mathmechs / cyberse can win the duel over Tenpais. Good choice going first, bring out terahertz link card. Purrley too, since their XYZ big cat is a huge stack.

I feel like one deck that is really going to be going under the radar is ritual beast. Its gunna be like puppet branded x kashtira. You play the banish floodgates like d fissure and shifter. But unlike kashtira you have the consistency and strength of the board like branded where you can make these autowins like protos and colossus. Granted protos isnt like a COMPLETE autowin, you are essentially coinflipping between dark and fire. Dark for yubel/branded, fire for SEFK tenpai. Granted it might not be super popular because its… well its hard. Branded is already not played much as is because its so hard. And branded is MUCH easier then RB because realistically, branded combos are very short.

Agreed. With the field spell semied, no terraforming (so you can't thrust it), prosperity limited and Shifter being semi'd, plus most of Tenpai's appeal in the TCG was being exponentially cheaper than many decks you could be playing right now, even when paidra was a 20+ dollar super, and it's very possible they do this deck like they did Scareclaw or VS with the rarity distribution. I dont think the deck will be a massive problem, if at all. They will certainly rob games off people, people will talk about it on forums, but I really dont think it's gonna be extremely dominant past the first 2 weeks. Plus to your point, Tenpai has to blind second into not only more and more combo decks in theory, they have to do it against Yubel that will usually have Nightmare Pain up, which is only going to be a worse idea as time passes (Varudras, Fiendsmith, LDF becoming more popular). But we will ultimately have to wait and see.

Yeah I really struggle to see a world where this is more dominant than Tear 0 was, it's not on the same kind of power level. We'll have to see if people are able to leverage all these people taking the blind 2nd turn by spitting out a ridiculous board on turn 1.

​@@HexLex I think running red reboot along with just a couple more spell trap removal mostly for stuck control but also yubel is definitely a good reason to do so I also think pankertops could be good to as just extra removal for annoying cards like floodgates

I went many duels with a solo Neotempest Terahertz (and Matchmech Calculator on the backrow sometimes). After protecting it through Main Phase 1, they couldn't do anything during the Battle Phase. The problem with Mathmech is that it can't play under D Shifter and it can be handtraped to oblivion.

As much as I want to be upset at this archetype, I think its hilarious that so many decks over the years that care about the battle phase from Watts to War Rock with insane work arounds to prevent them from being broken have been memed on to oblivion and when Konami finally prints one that works seamlessly, everyone throws a fit. I definitely get why people are upset but its the duality of yugioh player, clown on things that are not strong enough but when they get strong enough, its unbearable 😭

With "strong enough" meaning turning off all interaction with a single card effect, it's completely normal to be upset. Tenpai's just comically lazy. Konami didn't want to put in the work to make a real archetype that plays through interruptions, and we got this. It's fitting when the top decks are all power-creep abominations of 1 card combos and generic ED sewage, but it's just exacerbating the problem of bad modern card design.

I think the main issue is that Konami’s card designing is very unbalanced. Archetypes tend to be either borderline unplayable with unnecessary restrictions out the ass, OR so overpowered and unrestricted that it breaks the game. It’d be less annoying if Konami committed to one side (either everything is underpowered and kept in check, or everything gets to play at full power), but instead Konami is weirdly selective and inconsistent in deciding which archetypes get balancing favoritism.

But either direction works better than this weird limbo Yugioh is in. It can be extremely frustrating to watch other archetypes not deal with any of the restrictions or cost your favorite deck has.

Tenpai would be about the last thing I'd worry about honestly, Kash is still running rampant, Yubel and Snake-eye will sooner or later just run over about anything. Tenpai is only really that strong because you can afford to run about any counter measure you could think of, and because other decks are not built around the battle phase whatsoever, usually you play around 20 cards or more which are meant as disruptions, so the actual Tenpai deck is smaller than all the generic cards you splash in. Modern decks will struggle hard but Tenpai could just as well lose to Ojamas, if they don't start shifter on opening.

Snake eyes is on the decline. Its power level with poplar at one seriously hinders the deck. If you look at the TCG and ocg it's declining. Yubel has be number one in TCG for a little bit now I believe with Ryzeal number on in ocg. All the new legacy support is cracked. God bless the new master duel meta. Even with Sangan Summoning at 2, without access to Terraforming and not as meta anti-meta tech access, Tempai Dragon will still be meta, but it’s not as terrifying as everyone was expecting. Going blind second is just as difficult as playing like Sky Strikers, especially when the current meta can still put up ways to hold off the Battle phase onslaught. I have a lot trash talk to say about Tenpai and their design, but will they ruin the game? No, not at all. At most they're a frustrating Factor by being a Ladder Farm deck you have to respect unlike Numeron and Mikanko and will probably be the 3rd best deck, but that's just speculation based off the other 2 official format. Where my main complaints belong to, other than Sangen Summoning itself, are the cards surrounding Tenpai like Red Reboot, Shifter, Maxx "C" etc. Those are actual things that make Tenpai annoying because it compounds with their Natural advantages like playing mostly in the BP and having their Towers Field Spell which creates these situations where the loss feels really cheap and frustrating.

Everyone is overthinking that its broken until you realized Every Good Card in the deck is an SR/Ur. Sure its broken, but its too costly to the point where you need to either make a fresh Account or Steal your mom's credit card to only win games you go second.

This deck might not be the end of days for Master Duel, but it sure as hell is not fun or engaging to play against, and that's really what I care about. I don't feel like I get outplayed when I lose to this deck, they just either throw 5 hand traps at me and topdeck the field spell to autowin, or they do the same with board breakers and brute force through all of my interaction because they get to kill you into the sun 20 times over off of a single card. This deck is sooooooo fucking lame, dude. I hope it loses popularity because people start losing braincells due to boredom from autopiloting the helmetest of helmet decks.

The Monsters are not just unaffected, they are unaffected by activated effects, thats different, so they are not unaffected by continoues effects like Skilldrain or even the Buster Blader flootgate effect or Protos for example. They are ONLY unaffected in their own Main phase but this deck want to go into the battlephase and play from there so as long as they dont have the Lvl 10 Synchro out at that point, they are affected. Thrust will always be life gainst this deck since it throws around with handtraps and they let you go first anyway so, Play Dimension Barrier in the Deck. Ghost Ogre is a very good Handtrap aginst this deck since it can pop the fieldspell directly. And if they go first they just making seals and pass and hope that their handtraps are enough to survive. Yubel and Voiceless voice have a decent matchup against this deck, you can make Meteoburst in VV to stop them in the battle Phase, Purrely is a good Deck against Tenpai as well, or you make an unaffected Bossmonster yourself like Psychic end punisher and if he is bigger than 6K attack its not easy for tenpai to out it, and there are even more counters to this Deck.
