My wife and I have Medicare advantage plans. When they ran the advantage plan first there was a co-pay, when they ran Medicare first, there wasn’t.

I work for a county. They offer a health care plan for retirees. It appears to be very similar to what I have currently working (HMO, vision and dental), but of course the premium will be higher. When I turn 65, I will enroll in Part A, but I was thinking of delaying Part B, Part D and Plan G. If I decide to choose my employer retirement health plan, which has a cheaper premium and NOT an 80/20 coverage, will Medicare accept this coverage as CREDIBLE if I choose full Medicare at a later time?

Typically, retiree coverage is not considered creditable for Medicare. If you decide to take the retiree coverage now and Medicare later, you will be required to pay a late enrollment fee. However, many people enroll in Medicare Part B and use retiree coverage as a secondary, depending on what works best for them. We recommend you reach out to Medicare and/or Social Security to determine if your coverage is considered creditable for Medicare.
