Jordan fans defend Jordan because you guys get on here and try to discredit his era, calling the players Plumbers when they hold all the records! This current era is blessed because the NBA doesn't allow contact with the Hand Checking and Forearms in the back! You weren't allowed a "Clear Path to The Basket" back then and it's the immaturity of the players of this era! The players in your Era have "Load Management" and they still having losing seasons! Lebron hanging around in the league so he can be called "Great" mean while he falling on the floor acting like a child flopping all over the place just to get a call, Goats don't do that. Kareem didn't do that, Bird didn't do that , Magic didn't do that, Elgin Baylor, Pete Maravich, Jerry West, John Havilcek, Kobe, Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan, and Robinson didn't do that! Lebron has also played with 30 All-Stars in his career attempting to "Stack" his team to win! Jordan couldn't get past the Pistons so he trained harder and then he beat them. Lebron couldn't beat Golden State so he ran to an All-Star team of D Wade and Bosh! Jordan fans defend because you excuse Lebron's behavior and attack Jordan. Like this latest idiocy of listening to Isiah saying Jordan didn't have a "Left Hand" You can see Jordan layup or Jam with his left in every video on the internet, yet Lebron fans still put it out there that he can't! We know what we say, you know what you are seeing in this video and nobody in your league does this every night, Jordan did!

How is 90s bad defense. Jordan had to go through bad boy pistons hurting him but still goes inside everytime. While LeBron is always flopping and whining for fouls. He played against Hakeem, payton, mark eaton, rodman, David robinson, mutombo, alonzo mourning, the davis brothers, etc. Lebron would get demolished in the 90s if he kept his bitchness attitude. Also Lebron has all time record 5000 + turnovers at 1400 games played while stockton has only 4100 turnovers at more than 1500 games played. How is Lebrons IQ in this stat? The way Lebron gained those championships jumping superteams, firing coaches, taking peds, relying on Ray allen, Dwade, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and not crediting them? should automatically remove him from the top 5 all time. Also he choked against sick Dirk and JJ barea defending him. That's like if Jordan choked against a 5'5 Brian Scalabrine. Lmao

I stopped watching after just a few minutes. Light-skin Jameis Winston IQ said 90s defense was bad? It's obvious when it comes to the history of the NBA he's as clueless as Leon Lett in Thanksgiving Day snow. MJ was defended by some of the greatest perimeter defenders all-time (Moncrief, Alvin Robertson, Rodman, Michael Cooper, Payton, Dennis Johnson, Dumars, Pippen-in practice). And took it to the bucket against some of the greatest defensive bigs all-time (Hakeem, David Robinson, Mourning, Mutombo, Ewing, Eaton, Parish, Rollins). This is exactly why I say majority of Bron fans aren't very sharp. What in idiotic thing to say when today's defensive players are inferior to all them cats I listed.

"I've seen many players do that" says it all. Many players do particular things MJ did, but none has that complete package he had. Calling MJ fans fans unbearable and making you not like the guy is exactly what lebron fans are.. after all, lebron fans came up with "we (are) done with (the) 90s" and "Jordan had no left", because the only way to put lebron above MJ is to discredit that era. The era where players actually tried to block, to stop you from dunking and not just looking at you travelling by. There's hardly any defence these days. Competition was more balanced then, while today everything comes down to shooting 3s. With today's spacing and foul calls MJ would probably average at least 40, because he'd either drive to the hoop and dunk, or he'd be fouled while utilizing his deadly midrange shooting. In the end "Why you jumping" and "There's no defence" is this era's playstyle..

They were jumping with him so they could contest his shot. If they contest another player's shot there is a chance that they can knock the ball out of the air, throw the player off balance so they miss, or knock the player down out of the air. In any of those scenarios, the shot doesn't go in the basket for most players... Jordan was one of the few exceptions. His competitors described him as "cat-quick and deceptively strong" so he would just muscle through his opponents in the air. He had to adopt that because The Pistons were actively trying to hurt players, especially Michael, early on in his career. Their goal when he went up in the air was not to go after the ball but to go after him. Bill Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas, and Dennis Rodman often tackled him out of the air... he still averaged 37 points against them in his career.

You know the NBA got rid of zone defense in 1957 because they didnt like players sagging off their man and not comitting to defense. Illegial defense basically gets rid of that by forcing a player to stick to his man. And you were allowed to send double teams but it had to be once the player got the ball. But you forgetting one thing, the defense back then was more prominent. You could handcheck your guy and have a center camping in the piant without the 3 second rule. Jordan makes guys look bad on defense because of his speed, he had one of the quickest 1st steps in history. You dont have to take my word, KG said he was guarding mike and he blinked and dude was gone. James worthy said Mike made you look slow on defense. His nick name was the Black Cat cause he manuerved like one.

“Old Head Rant” 😂 I now understand why people say, “Why are you jumping?” when players try to block the dunks in these highlights. The rules have changed the game so there is less defense and faster paced offense with fewer pauses in the game. You’re most likely going to get a foul called today. The amount of 3 point shots attempted and made, the spacing and rule changes to defense and the “gather step” (an effect of AND1 and Streetball) I think are why we have so many high scoring games and crazy blowouts. In the 80s, 90s and early 00s defense was a more important part of the game and blocks could make the difference in whether you win or not. Defense has never been flashy or that exciting but great defense makes great offense look even more impressive. Also, it wasn’t about being “disrespected” when you get dunked on. The NBA needs to compete with changing attention spans. They can’t lose viewers to their phones every time there’s a pause in play. They need exciting plays to happen on both ends of the floor constantly. I absolutely agree that the talent and skill level in the current NBA has increased, including the players on the bench but that is a direct effect of Michael Jordan. He inspired a lot of players, including greats like Bryant, Iverson, Carter AND James. My favorite team was the Sonics and Gary Payton was my favorite player. He and Shawn Kemp were a blast to watch. So I never rooted for Jordan except when he played the Jazz but he definitely is the GOAT. When he retired, fans were like, “We have a chance now!” He broke a lot of city’s hearts, set a lot of records and changed the game like no other player has since. The atmosphere around the NBA, not just here in the States but around the world, is hard to describe. It’s why there are so many international players in the NBA now. Thanks for the reaction!

Man I started typing this as I was watching your video and this got too long. First its not us MJ fans. Those of us who watched him know the difference between guys like MJ and Lebron. Compare MJ to guys like Bird, Magic, Kareem...we are good with that. We may disagree, but most older actual basketball fans will still respect the comparison. Comparing him to Lebron. No. Lebron has games, playoff games, finals games... you name it, he quit. Lebron got outplayed by Jason Terry and JJ Barrea. I watched games with lebron where you just saw he quit. He walked off the court early. He sits when he is healthy. MJs last 3 peat he played 82, 82, and 82 games. Outside of the years he broke a foot and came out of retirement he missed a total of 7 games with the bulls. With the wizards he missed time his first year because of his knee. His last year with them he played 82 games. MJ showed more respect for the fans. Thats why he tried to play every game. MJs game had no weaknesses. Lebron is a weak freethrow shooter. He shoots about 37% from outside 3 feet. He was a good defender when he wanted to be. He just usually chose not to. MJ has 9 first team defenses. Lebron had 5 first team and 1 second team in many more years. Lebron is more than willing to throw teammates and coaches under the bus. You didn't see older guys like MJ do that. MJ always took the responsibility. He may say they need to be better as a team, but that was the worst of it. MJ cared about winning. Lebron doesnt give a damn about anything but his stats. He said it himself. There was a game his team lost and they were interviewing him and he said to look at his stats. That is a difference. MJ said he didn't care about stats. He wanted to win. The stats just came with it. You see guys make plays like MJ on occasion. MJ had plays like these every game. His games were highlight films. You never knew what he was going to do. The players are not necessarily more skilled now. They allow players to get away with more. All the guys you see with the fancy dribbling now would have been called for traveling, double dribbles or a carry back then. These step back 3s would all be called for traveling. Also there is a difference. Guys now want to sit and dance and dribble. Watch MJ. quick first step 1 or 2 dribbles to blow past someone or pull up. It was about efficiency. Its also easier to do stuff when defenders cant touch you. No one getting under your feet when you shoot. They jumped with him back then because their job was to try to stop him. Its different than today when guys don't want to try. You are talking about the defense back then. How many players do what Jordan did with the ball, back then or now. How many people do all the ball fakes... And with the size of MJs hands you had to respect the fakes even with one hand. How many guys have the footwork? He made guys look bad because he was just that good. He had a counter for almost everything. If he knew you wouldn't go for the fake the next time it wouldnt be a fake. MJ really could average 45. He averaged 37 in the 86-87 season. Now add in a couple 3 point shots per game. More spacing. Most of the top shot blockers in the game played in MJs era. He easily gets to the line a few more times per game and he was a good free throw shooter. No push off. Watch the play. He doesnt really extend his arm. He would have no leverage to push the way his arm went. Also if you look at the defender he was already out of position. His hips were turned and he was running with MJ.

Jordan would average much more than James Harden, he is a completely different killer comparing with harden. I know that players now are more skilled, atlethic and better shooters, but the defense now is worse. The current way of defending would fit MJ's game, with no hand checking and a lot of space, he would average 40 to 43 ppg. More free throws, more 3 point, etc

I’ve seen all three ERAs Jordan,Kobe and Lebron . Jordan separated himself from every player. When did we start rewarding players for losing Championships while playing on a Super Team? You see players do things with a 3 second rule 😂. Players will react to every move Jordan made (the fear factor). Lebron has been in the league for 20 years with 40k points and 4 Championships that is underachieving.Jordan career AVG is 30 points, James Harding had 1 good season and shrank in the Post Season in Houston. I got lucky and was born in time to watch jordan the last few seasons in his career and the jordan fans ho a little hard sometimes but they are right, I think ppl assume the players are better now days because it's misleading, if the defense can't touch you then the offense has the freedom to do whatever they want, in the 90's u were able to get knocked on ur ass if u didn't watch out. To put Jordan's superiority into context, Jordan's worst year with the bulls was his rookie year (top 50 all time season) and his rookie season was essentially the same as kobes best season.

I'll explain to you why everyone jumps. Because before around 2008 coaches and general managers controled the league, Not players. So if you didn't jump and you didn't show effort you would be on the bench or even possibly traded. As far as the players being more skilled today you said it so you need to prove that. There's no hand checking today there's no defensive 3 seconds today. But the FG % is the same today as the 90s. And the 3 pt % is only 1.4 % higher today. So they're definitely not more skilled shooting today. If you're talking about dribbling and handles and how big men are more versatile today and can dribble and shoot from outside, thats true. But you need to understand that big men in the 90s were not paid to dribble or shoot outside they were supposed to be down in the paint.

You don’t see a lot of that in the 90s. But in the 90s, everyone had a post game. Every team had a rim protector. There was a lot less iso and a lot more offensive schemes. Players had to give equal effort on defense. The focus on skills has changed. Not the skill level

7:37 something people young fans don't seem to understand is that the top players in the league will still be top players in the league regardless of era. Like Jordan was the best player in the league by a good margin while he was already passed his prime at 35 years old. A league with teams like the Twin Towers Tim Duncan and David Robinson. The 4 Allstar Lakers Kobe, Shaq, Eddie Jones, Nick Van Exel. The Jazz Malone Stockton Duo. Patrick Ewing's Knicks. The Payton, Kemp Sonics. Alonzo Mourning Tim Hardaway Heat. Reggie Millers Pacers. Not to mention the great teams of earlier in the 90s, like Barkleys Suns, Dominique’s Hawks, Bad Boy Pistons, Drexlers Trailblazers, Hakeems Rockets, etc Along with great guards/f such as Penny Hardaway, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace, etc. LeBron even in his PRIME struggled against some of these players who were already OLD. Jordan dominated while only ever having 1 single allstar teammate. Keep in mind, LeBron couldn't win until he formed a team with stacked with 3 allstars (including 3rd greatest SG of all time and an 11x straight perennial allstar) only to lose to Mavs who only had 1 single allstar, Dirk (someone who was drafted in the 90s might I add). LeBron has had MORE HoF'ers and Allstars ON HIS OWN TEAM and STILL LOST in the Finals against teams with LESS HoF'ers. Jordan has had LESS HoF'ers and Allstars ON HIS OWN TEAM and STILL WON in the Finals against team with MORE HoF'ers.

Dude. I rooted against Jordan in the last 2 championships. I said it - double team him. They tried, it didn’t work. If Jordan shot the ball, it went in, every-time. In his day he was known for fade away believe it or not. He shot from all ranges and almost never missed. And of course he could sky jam on people, but his sharp shooting was what he was best at. He was the greatest of all time. Never since has a player dominated his sport, in any sport, the way Jordan dominated basketball

Can't say competition is weaker in the 90's because you can't even play any defense today. Any era where defense is not being played is the weak era. as much as you want think that your era is more 'skilled' today, it's not. Defense is a also a skill. Post up is a skill. midrange shot is a skill. Them be 3 skills that are missing today so your argument that your era is more skilled is false.

The name of the game back then was Defense. If you didn't contest you were subbed out. There was no such thing as having too much ego to not getting dunked on. People went for his fakes because you had to honor everything he did. He had the best midi in the history of the league. Some say Kobe is Jordan 2.0 because Kobe had an added skill: the 3pt shot, which Jordan only used at the end of the shot clock or just to prove a point (see '92 Finals). He never worked on the 3 because he thought he might fall in love with it to the point that it'd take away from his inside game where he knew he had an advantage. You'll find a bunch of guys doing some of what he did, but you won't find anyone with the whole set of skills that he had, including the will and commitment to play D as intensively as his offense. This video shows some of his highlights in chronological order so you can see his impact and his progression, but it's not his best video. This video doesn't tell you that you were likely to see about 5 of these plays from him EVERY GAME. I'm almost sure someone has already recommended MJ best rare footage vids; I'm sure you'll find those interesting. He wasn't my fav player, but i know he was the best, and no one player before or after him has given me enough evidence to change my opinion. The fact that you repeat some of what you hear without doing your homework and knowing the history of the subject shows here; but keep an open mind and keep on learning.

It's not that players are more skilled now. It's just the NBA requires a very different skillset and due to the rules that skillset is a lot flashier and quicker. Even the types of defenses and the strategies on D were different. The physicality required players to be bigger to withstand it which in turn meant they were less agile. So someone from today who appreciates the agility and quickness has a hard time appreciating the different game and the skillsets that game required.

I don't know if you know basketball or not. I will say, just understand that a person can play a sport all their life and not know the game in many different ways . I learned that through football. A player can be great and not know the history of the game. Or sometimes not know anything beyond their position. They may know to use a certain technique or skill, but not understand why they're using it. They may see a player as great, but know understand what made them great. They may overlook a player who didn't put up gaudy numbers and not understand that person's greatness. I do have to ask how has the game gotten better? The league dilerlberately set the rules to increase possession and scoring. Defense is at an all time low. It's so easy to get into the paint untouched. The post game is near irrelevant. 3pt shooting has improved, but back in the day it wasn't near as important and rarely practiced

Dude, Bird could play “D” at a fairly high level. 3 times All-Defense 2nd team with perhaps the highest basketball I.Q. of any player. Pay attention to that play and you’ll see that Bird cut Mike off from driving, so MJ had to pull up for the jumper, in the days before Mike developed into the deadly mid-range shooter he would be in late-80s. Also, try watching full games instead of highlights if you want to see how teams typically played defense during games. Highlights won’t showcase the defensive efforts of the guys getting torched, especially when about half of time it’s showing fast break dunks.

Cool react .. i will say this ... jordan would absolutely avg 40+ a game ... he avg 37.1 in 87 and that yr he MADE 61 3 pointers with hand checking .. and as far as goat, not only is he the greatest scorer ever, he also made 9 1st team def teams in 11 yrs ...name me a player whos done that since ..and before you say LeBalco, he made only 5 1st team def teams in 21 yrs and hasnt made 1 in his 30s ... jordan was doin it well into his 30s ... not hatin bro ... just putting things into context. I'm not gonna say that you're necessarily wrong for thinking Lebron is the GOAT, but I do think you lack information. There are two things Lebron has over Jordan, and that is assists and playing longer. Literally everything else relative to his position Jordan was better at. And no, I'm not talking about the semantics of who had a better team or who had better competition because that shit is stupid and entirely up to interpretation and feelings. Not to mention that how good a team looks is almost entirely dependent on if they win or not, so it automatically punishes Jordan for not losing in the finals and makes his competition look worse than they actually are.

lebron has a higher fg% from 2 and 3. Rebounds better, better playmaker. More versatility on the defensive end. Jordan was great in have him at 2 all time but nostalgia helps jordan entirely too much in these debates.
@whenisdinner2137
@whenisdinner2137 7 ай бұрын
@tnlkwon6377 Lebron takes the majority of his shots within three feet from the basket. Outside of three feet, he shoots 37%. He's decent at three pointers but abysmal at the mid range. Also Jordan has the higher PER which accounts for the higher volume of scoring, which naturally lowers your percentages. Also Lebron has not had his percentages tanked by playing 2 season at age 39 and 40 with tendanitus in both knees and in the lowest scoring era of NBA history Relative to his position, Michael Jordan is a better rebounder, and he's also a better offensive rebounder regardless of possition, which means he's not getting cheap boards that nobody else is getting. It's not an nostalgia, I'm literally 25. You just don't know about Jordan for real. Another thing people continue to not mention is that Jordan is actually the highest playoff riser off all time. Lebron is not a playoff faller, but He stays around the same, whereas Jordan increases his stats to literally video game numbers.

@tnlkwon6377 On average, no, he wasn't. A few great players can do that in a 7 game stretch if they wanted to. It's offset massively with his bad performances. In the regular season, lebron averages 28 7 and 7. In the playoffs, he averages 28 9 and 7. He rose in rebounds, and that's about it. In the regular season, michael jordan averages 30 6 and 5. In the playoffs, he averages 33 6 and 5. Jordan's playoffs increase is simply higher. And if we're talking a single final series, give me 93 Jordan easily LMFAO

My guy said "I seen them do a move MJ did", wait, who hasn't seen someone mimic a "move" someone else did? I mean, we would go outside to hoop after watching MJ play and mimic a move he did that night, but what does that have to do with playing like Mike, or being anything close to his caliber of skill and God gifted ability to do what he did every night as a highlight mixtape😂😂😂? You say you play ball your whole life, but playing a game/sport your whole life isn’t equivalent yo knowing the game of basketball. Anyone can learn to shoot, dribble, rebound, defend, but even then there's nuances to the game that takes studying the game and it's history. If knowing the game of basketball was as simple as just playing the game of basketball, then coaches who never played professionally basketball wouldn't exist on the sidelines coaching. Moral of the story is there's levels to this, and playing the game is just the start of knowing the game. At least you're hungry to learn, most youngins think they already know everything lol!

Yes the game evolves, better is subjective. This generation is the first in my 30 years of watching basketball that is mad Jordan is the GOAT. It isn't Jordan fans(heck, there's a lot of people that hate Jordan,they still understand hes the GOAT) its LeBron fans that want to elevate him when he hasn't earned it. Its not about fandom, its about who was better and achieved more, with rings as a cherry on top

If your only perspective on MJ comes from youtube hightlights and videos and you never watched Jordan play you have zero credibility when comparing MJ and Lebron. You're young and you can only draw from what you grew up watching which is Lebron so how you speaking on MJ? I can go all the way back to me watching Kareem play to the present day and there is no comparison. MJ is far superior to Lebron. Kobe is far superior to Lebron and I can say that with confidence because unlike you I've watched them all play live full games no edited videos. Can you say the same? As for you saying players today are more skilled. How'd you come to that conclusion? Once again you're speaking from a limited perspective. Them youtube videos you watching got you out here sounding ignorant. Today's era of basketball is the softest in nba history. If you ever want to debate me on anything I said holla at me but just know I will take no prisoners in that debate and Im talking about a live video taped debate. Let's get it!

refreshing to see a calm respectful comment lol. i will say nowadays lebron doesn’t lock in defensively as much as he used to but opponents still shoot the lowest % from the field against him compared to anyone in the league. he’s 39 so i don’t expect him to sit down and play elite defense for 82 games but he’s never been a liability on that end. and for the attitude i feel like all great players have bad attitudes especially when it comes to losing is that fair to say?

MJ,Kobe, not sure if I got lebron in the top 5. He only lead his team twice to the NBA finals to win one of which Irving took the last shot to win that series. Wilt was the all-time leading score so as well, and he was never the greatest. Lebron is also the all-time leading turnover, most shots taken all time and most missed all time. But No one wants to talk about that. LbJ is an all time great I prob got him in 5-8 all time. Maybe 4.
