Have been to Milford Sound when coming off the Milford track years ago when I a kid. Couldn’t see Miter Peak. But got to see waterfalls coming off the sides of the mountains.

Yes, Milford Sound is an awesome place. But is always so very busy for that very reason. Kind of a shame really. You didn't show the Chasm on your way down to Milford from the tunnel. That too is awesome. For a more personal & no where as crowded adventure is Doubtful Sound. That is well worth a look too.

Hey John! Yeah it is super busy I was lucky because I went just after covid so it was still super quiet when I went I think we had 15 people in the boat when it usually takes 150-200! I would love to do doubtful sound next time I’m down! 😊

Milford. Sandflies like sparrows and a lot of ‘em! The environment is beautiful though and with the forest growing from a base of moss over rock, any rain (of which there’s a lot) means there are waterfalls everywhere. Well worth a visit. Side note: in the 19th century the local postie used to do the climb over mountains now pierced by the tunnel every damned day. An iron man to be sure.

Hello! I haven’t personally been too doubtful sound but I’ve heard great things about it! I do know it’s a bit harder to get too and there lots of transport - boat , bus then another boat! If you lots of time I would recommend it but if not I think Milford is a great offer!

Milford sound's big problem is it is overwhelming. Suddenly your eyes are confronted by all of these amazing sights. It's just too much to take in. And much worse if you are on the same day exhausting day trip from Queenstown. You were lucky to get a fine day but it is even more fabulous when it it raining which is most of the time.
