I'm on Mint right now, and with the exception of having no data service in rural areas while traveling, I've had zero complaints. Except in those limited rural areas, my data speeds are very fast (typically with a 5G connection, occasionally dropping to LTE). I have tried Visible several times over the past 2 years, and every single time I regretted it. The service was horrible (in areas where Verizon's direct service is perfect), with texts not coming through, strange garbled voice calls, and numerous times I had no service at all. When I briefly switched to a direct Verizon account (with the outrageous monthly prices), all of those issues went away, so clearly Visible was the problem. No thank you, I'll stick with Mint.

I just switched to Mint from T-Mobile. I live overseas and all of my calling to the States is via Wifi so it's free and unlimited SMS which I use very little (I'd rather use message apps like Line or Signal). The catch is I need to connect to a hotspot which is provided by a tablet using a local SIM. By dumping T-Mobile I spend less for 2 local SIMS (dual SIM phone and a tablet) along with the Mint $15/month plan so I have solid redundancy and awesome connectivity with ZERO international costs for calls via WiFi.

I’ve used Mint for about a year now. No major complaints compared to my previous carrier, though the deprioritized data is annoying once in a while. Not as annoying as spending $35 a month instead of $15 though. I will say though, Tello’s $6 custom plan is pretty great for secondary devices. 500mb of high speed data and unlimited low speed data, as well as talk and text, is all you really need for a device that’s not your main one, and $6 a month can’t be beat. I used it for a month when I was transitioning from iPhone to Android, so my old phone would still have service whenever I needed it before I got my new phone completely set up.

After a month with Mint i could not wait to get out of my 3 month plan. I always had a problem connecting every time I need to use my GPS. It’s always either I couldn’t connect or it took time before I got connected. There were times I already passed the street that I need to turn before my GPS says I need to turn. Also, since I started using Mint even at home using WiFi it took me a while before I could get an internet. It wasn’t the case before I switch to Mint. Since I am not renewing I am having a hard time getting my account number and pin to port out.☹️

This is why T-Mobile paid 1.3 billion dollars to purchase Mint: to RUIN it. I have the exact same problem as you - cellular data isn’t strong enough to load GPS, which is the single-most important thing to have cellular data for. Mint sucks.

Any truckers or frequent road trippers got feedback on the nationwide coverage? I currently have t mobile and it works okay other than some known dead spots in certain states and areas, but should I basically expect the same coverage from mint?
@AdmoreMethod10 ай бұрын
I’m on the road 6 days a month and I had to get the 40gig plan because I kept running out of data (and, I’ve always had a 15gig plan with other carriers). But, even with 40gigs, I run out of data after the second day. And, since T-Mobile (the owner of Mint Mobile) doesn’t allow us to see where the data is going, it’s impossible to catch whatever they’re doing to rip me off. As soon as this fuk’n “contract” is over, I’m going back to StraightTalk.

@@AdmoreMethod hey, thanks for the response. since writing my previous comment i tried mint on the 3 months for $15 bucks offer, and yeah you’re right the 40gb wasn’t enough for me. i ended up going with visible by verizon on their more premium plan which is $45 a month and it’s worked fantastic for me. unfortunately the cheaper plans with limited data just won’t do it for me who’s on the road 20 days out of the month as a long haul trucker.

As of March 2024. No, Mint Mobile is no longer competitive against US Mobile at the $15 price point. US Mobile is now offering 10GB of high speed data then unlimited 1mbps data for the same $15/mo, (billed annually at $180), offering more data on the choice of 2 networks; soon all 3 with the announcement of “Deathstar”, more usable low speed data after the high speed allotment, the high speed data is premium data, it’s an obvious choice now and they also apparently plan to add the ability to move between networks, for that last point I will wait and see. However, this is why competition is great. Also US Mobile includes taxes and fees.

De prioritized is a key word. I switched to a t-mobile deal last year and was assured that the quality of service will get better. There was a fine print and I saw it but I did not really know what de prioritized or high priority data terms meant. Well, what it means that in metropolitan areas any provider's network will be congested most of the time and there my plan's features/speeds will get de-prioritized to the point where there will be no any service. For months, until a tech representative who was "debugging" my "improved" magenta essentials service asked me what did I expect with this plan and explained what it meant that is when I understood the meaning of those words. I missed calls, I could not call, internet was literally non-existent most of the time.

Good luck. After the trial period is over, Mint Mobile begins to “steal” cellular data. For example, I got the 15 gig plan because that’s what I’ve always had with other carriers and I never ran out. But, with Mint, I had to keep getting more and more data, because I would run out. I’m currently on their 40 gig plan and I can listen to my podcasts for about two days before I run out. And, since I had to pay up front for a full year’s service with no refund ability… I’m just screwed. Ryan Reynolds got 300 million outta the sale and continued to make bank on the commercials… but, T-Mobile turned his baby into just another cellular scam.
