is mmWave 5G really worth it?

Mmwave is for sure needed in areas like stadiums or anywhere with lots of people. But yet they're putting it in neighborhoods to serve 10-15 customers 🙄

I agree. And once it get better range watch out. Those test have done it at miles...first 4 miles now about 6. If this is applied to real world this would be game changes. Even just a half mile to mile

Wouldnt it be smarter to connect to 3G since people don't use it that much anymore, you would be one of the few on that network

@@sean07de2k24 Also all the carriers in the States turned off 3G. Very few regional carriers still have it. And only T-Mobile has Edge still available. Otherwise, all the carriers are on LTE or 5G.

To be honest yes! The reason why I say yes is because mmWave is very prevalent in high density area like at a football game, baseball game, concerts, etc. Verizon has the most mmWave but AT&T comes second, if you have T-Mobile then mmWave is kinda pointless.

Interesting video. Technically speaking, in 2:53 when you move the phone around, probably it is not the distance but suboptimal beam that makes such a difference. Your operator (and its network vendor) should implement better beam management.

If not having mmWave means I get to keep my simtray, then I don't even want it. Glad my 14 Pro still has a physical sim. Plus I think these speeds on a phone aren't really necessary at this moment in time.

Don't worry apple will remove the sim card tray in all models in the future. So it's not a question of will they do it it's a matter of when they do it.

I’m from Australia & don’t physically pay for 5G but I have the 14 plus & 5G enable sim card which is on a sim only plan I pay $65 a month for 500gb my speeds are good

I think T-Mobile has it on all their plans but it still starts at $70. US carrier prices charge a lot compared to plans in Europe for similar plans. Regular 5G and mmWave 5G is so congested in my area, I have to turn it off and use LTE sometimes

Carriers should have just heavily focused on C-Band for the 5G push. I wonder if they could have built out C-Band using the same beam forming antennas that MMWave uses for better more accurate coverage? We’ve had a couple of these super high tech Qualcomm beam forming antennas in every iPhone since the 12 pros but I’m guessing less than a few percent of owners have ever had them activate in a MMWave scenario…

Freedom Mobile in Canada has a 99*$ 50GB unlimited calling and texting ANNUAL plan. First year around 120$ and then 110$ after in Alberta that is due to hihg 911 fees. Using an android with LTE cause 5G is traaaash.
