@@jumpyg1258 Most of the lords at the beginning of the campaign (or maybe all of them, i am not sure) aren't random generated. However, as the years pass you'll see the new ones that the game generates as far as i know.

I bought Warband a month ago after I got a new gaming PC and its one of the bestgame I've ever played. The Massive battles, fun characters and faction wars make up an experience I've never played anywhere else. Its truly a classic and I hope you never stop making awesome content about such a masterpiece.

@@KristofKarwinskithegreat-se5pu That's actually how POP is designed to be played. The main quest such as it is involves alliance with the Noldor. You can ignore it and sandbox however you want though. It's not a coincidence there are two books that improve Noldor relations and not for any other faction.

I just recently did a "Antiviking" run in Viking Conquest, starting as a Frisian, siding with the English in the Storyline, buying 6 Skeids and then taking Friese back from those a-holes with as much prejudice as possible. Now when Danes in Ribe look at the sea at night, they pray to Odin that the "Frisian Reaper" is not coming to their shore. So yeah, until bloc singlehandedly finishes the work TW has started, I may play Bannerlord from time to time, but Warband is still my favorite.

I remember the first time I completely conquered the map, I too worshipped our Lord and savior jeremus, he loved me too so I made him a vassal of my newly founded kingdom but no, he didn't want to be a vassal he wanted everything, he defected and went with the desert people. My kingdom was on the verge of ruin but somehow I convinced an elderly swan man with 200 troops to join my 1 fief kingdom. Fuck jeremus

i put hundreds of hours into warband and am well on my way to doing the same in bannerlord. bannerlord has a lot more to do in the base game, and feels much more open ended, while i also feel a lot more involved in the affairs of the kingdoms and more in control of my own kingdom. you’re absolutely right about the mods, but i think bannerlord will catch up in that regard, tons of cool mods in development already that i’ve heard about

You see, I can answer this, I first played Warband in... 12/18/2020.. and it was my favorite game until Bannerlord, then I played Bannerlord for a few hundred hours.. and went back to Warband.. to realize I like both.. but Warband was a lot more simple and fun.. while Bannerlord was more complex but fun with the new stuff...

I LOVE modding. And Mount and Blade is one of those games, that profits especially well from it. Bannerlord has the problem, that all those great mods, that already exist, are outdated very quickly, and the modders can't really keep up with updating them. Warband with mods is better, than Bannerlord. Once Bannerlord has a stable choice of mods, it probably will surpass Warband.

I know this is a meme video, but a lot of other youtubers are making serious videos on the topic and I find it hilarious. It's as if they think the warband player base all just went to bannerlord. Warband still has about a third of the numbers bannerlord has, it's not like warband has died and is some forgotten relic. Loads of people still play it, if the game held up in 2019 then guess what, it still does in 2021. Peace and Love.

Raiding in Warband: attack the village, peasants resisting, cut them down, loot their various good. Raiding in Bannerlord: wait outside village for ungodly long timer to complete, get one trade good with a generic bag or barrel graphic. Less talking, more raiding, Warband is still superior.

Jokes aside, i do think most of the charm of warband today comes from nostalgia. The game certainly did not hold up in gameplay, atleast for me. When i was a kid i enjoyed the game with cheats and never dared to do a cheat-less run as i was scared of failing. Now that i dont suck, i started a new save a couple weeks ago and it has been nothing but a slow and repetetive grind. Kill looters, get stronger. Kill sea raiders, get stronger. Get in a couple tournaments and more sea raider killing. Ally with sanjar, take a caste, empty its garrison, betray sanjar, get castle for myself, and from there onwards it was just a grind of slowly sieging the entire world. I am about 70% complete with it but it really doesnt feel satisfying and it feels more of a chore than a game now. Its far too easy and the only difficulty comes from the amount of time it takes to conquer the world. There isnt even much variation on what routes you can take, this is pretty much the only one. You can conquer the world while allied with a faction instead but its basically the same thing. Weapons lack variation too. Bows are too weak, throwing weapons are too few, and crossbows are only really good on sieges as you cannot use the better ones on horseback. So yeah. On the surface, warband seems like a cool game but its quite shallow and trivial if you have just a few hours. Mods partially remedy the issue but the core gameplay ends up being the same thing, just destroy other parties to get stronger until you can siege.

I like Warband, but it has issues. Mostly in the late game. Wish the AI lords and kings had some option to increase opinion with eachother. By the end of the game everyone hates eachother and each King has one lord they split all their land with, instead of a faction you’re fighting two guys with doom stacks. Unit variety and whatnot could be better, and bandits could also use some sort of upgrade tree to make them more worthwhile to fight in the late game. That being said BUTTER FOR THE BUTTERLORD

The simplicity- thank you. Been telling people that. Bannerlord's map just feels a bit too big, too many castles and villages, too many minor factions, too many companions, too many lords. Gaining relation with a village is not as simple, now you need to gain relation with multiple nobles. Even starting your own kingdom isn't as simple

I agree, especially with the persuasion and conversation tactics that feel like statistics in Bannerlord with the percentages, while feeling more natural and legitimate in Warband with just the conversations and judging on your relation and persuasion level for you to estimate and hope that you succeed in your attempt.

I think that any game can be good in a certain era, so it's not either/or. Pong was the hit of the seventies, people loved it and those who were kids back then still have fond memories of endless hours just moving a slider. Not sure how much or for how long people would enjoy it nowadays compared to other games. I never played Warband but I'm sure it was a great game 13 years ago. I just bought Bannerlord 2 months ago and I'm having a blast. I heard about Warband and wondered if it's worth playing it. Seeing these nostalgia videos however, the answer is a no-brainer: by today's standard, Warband has little to offer compared to Bannerlord. Not just the visual part, but all the other mechanics and their complexity as well. So to answer the video title: yes AND yes, probably. For those who played Warband in 2010. For those who never played Warband, in 2023: no and no.
