Very good explanation. Whether for short term or long term, understanding and speaking Italian will make the experience so much better. Good luck in Salerno.

Moving in general always worths it, even for a short period of time, especially for those who are still young enough.

Couldn't agree more. People have to remember they are going to a foreign country, inhabited by foreign people who actually do foreign things. What they have to always bear in mind is that, in this context, they themselves are the foreigner and that all those, to them, seemingly strange things that the locals do are not strange to the locals. After all you are a guest in their house so if you don't like the way they do things and, particularly, if you do not know the underlaying motives and history of why they do things in a certain way it's better just to accept, try to understand and learn to navigate in the strange, to you, environment they have created, or just go home before you become a burnt out case by continually comparing what you were used to with the world you have chosen to inhabit. Now, having bored everyone to tears I shall descend from my soapbox and leave Speaker's Corner free to other, perhaps more coherent, blabbermouths. 😀😀

Hey Ms Britaly 😉🖐 What's up? I'm a guy from the Netherlands, originally from Bosnia and I've watched some of your video's. I just wanted to say that I very much appreciate the way you talk about your life in Italy, your good and bad experiences etc. I would also like to move to Italy but I simply don't dare in a way like what if it doesn't work out for me because I've had this "la dolce vita" illusion in my head for long time and other things that kinda scare me to make that huge step and actually really do it. I would like to ask you so many questions and is it maybe possible to send you a message in private? Greetings from Netherlands 😉🖐

As to children. You are the parent and you decide how to bring them up. Mine are British but very Italian and they prefer to live here….. and at least one time per year they go to England for at least 2 weeks. More if possible.

I guess that an interesting topic you could touch (also given your self-employement), would be how a sole proprietor business works in Italy. If you're moving to Italy but do not wish to enter the slog market, you can start a small business (real small, cannot invoice more than 100k a year) for an acceptable tax rate (around 33 to 35% of your invoice overall, including the dreaded Inps, the social security contribution). Its called "regime forfettario". For graphic designers, IT consultants and many other crafts involving working at a computer and possibly dealing with customers in your home country to avoid communication issues while you're learning italian, it's an interesting choice. But anything more serious than the regime forfettario is too much taxes for any self respecting human on Earth ((sure it is for me). It's a tad more complex than how i put it, and i'd leave the rest to you, but i guess that lots of people not in retirement age around the world might find it useful. Good luck!

Claire the UK emigration this year is one of the highest ever. I am part of the emigrating English of the early 1980’s and it has not stopped. As my Sociology teacher used to repeat to the class: More British leave Britain than foreigners come to Britain. That is how things have evened out over the years.- after Brexit EU citizens a lot have gone back and others just don’t come as they have the whole of the EU they can go to without any kind of restriction. External to EU influx has heavily increased after Brexit. But the British citizen element leaving has not decreased at all…….! One thing is to say Italians go away and generalize it but a lot go for worked experience with the Erasmus scheme etc….. some fall in love that is a part of life. This is how people start but a lot come here too.

I believe you've said it in earlier videos, each person needs to understand the 'why' they are considering any change. Researching the experiences of others is helpful, but must always be viewed through the lens of your personal goals.
