Moza seems to be killing it in the budget section of sim racing, especially when it comes to their wheelbases. So cool to have more competition in the space, making high quality equipment so accessible. After I fix my real car, I'm definitely gunning for their R9 wheelbase lol

It has been brought to my attention that Simagic have made a duel mode shifter. I was not aware while making this video. But after some research that shifter is waaaaaay too expensive, some retailers selling for OVER $400.

on the price I can agree that it's expensive. but from where I live, the alternative which is Fanatec Clubsport Shifter SQ 1.5 is about the same price as Simagic DS-8X which is USD400. it sucks but that's our options here for premium combo shifters. as much as i'd love to get the HGP shifter, i don't have the luxury of space to accommodate an H and SQ shifter.

The Newt2 SHH Shifter is another great budget shifter. € 99,00 gets you both sequential and h-pattern modes. It's 3d printed but well built and sturdy.

Really, I have bought my SHH this summer, and it does everything I want it to. Only issue I have with it is that it doesn't feel very mechanical, but that's a dumb point to moan about given the price.

An excellent hardware review as always! The lack of mention of Simagic's new H pattern/sequential shifter is a bit odd, but you may have recorded this review before it was released/announced. If I remember correctly, Simagic's shifter is also priced quite highly (closer to the Fanatec than Moza).

"Is it worth your time and money?" That looks like a good product. I'll never be able to afford a racing rig. But I have an interesting comment to add. I have to add this big side comment. I finally had the opportunity to use a racing rig. Went into MicroCenter store. (PC upgrade time.) They had a racing rig setup for customers to play with. Watched some young guys try it. Spinning out left and right. Can't control the gas. Heavy foot. I had to try it. First time in a rig! I noticed it had a Simcube direct drive. (Later. I saw Moza R9 in the show case. Priced about $900 US.) Did not recognize the wheel and peddle setup. The brake peddle was very hard to push. I could not tell how much brake force I was applying. Learned that quickly when the back end spun around. I don't know the name of the track course but I recognized it from your videos. This is a long straight,,, Hit it. 6th gear. I'm the only car on the track. Take the risk and enjoy it. It's just a sim. Did not brake soon enough. Did not hit the wall but boy did the wheel giggle in the grass. Time to let someone else try this. Oh if only they had two racing sim setups that this old 60+ guy could race against any of those young guys.

Thanks for this review; I appreciate your attention to the immersion level up that comes with realistic gearbox feel. To me, there is nothing like coming out of a 1st gear corner in the sound modded 787b and banging up through the gears on a long straight. It sounds like this item would up that feeling substantially (I'm using a Club Sport now). Moza - add sequential and up that version $75 or $100...I WOULD BE IN!

I agree, for a little more money I would buy Moza's H/Sequential, the Simagic one is very expensive, but it looks of great quality, I'll buy it in the summer, that's if Moza doesn't get a new one...

I have a 3d printed shifter, it has 7+r and sequential mode built in, cost me $99, and is fairly sturdy. It does flex a bit when you use it, but only if you're really pushing on it when you shift. It's usb only though, so it works with any wheel setup on pc.

Great review. I bought one of these can't wait. I think if you want a sequential buy it separately as there's less things to go wrong in the long run. There is also vnm shifter which has h pattern/sequential but that's around £290.

I just upgraded my g920 shifter to the moza, it feels so much better than logitechs plastic shifter, you can really bang through the gears without worring about the shifter. I used to have to get on to people trying to be too rough with the old shifter. This can take it, definitely recommend.

The $60 Amazon no name special all metal shifter has H shift and a sequential method that works just as well.

Moza has recently made their own sequential shifter called the SGP shifter which is $130

The VNM shifter does both H pattern and sequential as well, and it is an absolute excellent shifter. That being said it costs just slightly more then the fanatec, at around 280-300. Worth every penny, but if i didnt already have one before the moza shifter had released, i would probably be looking at mozas soley on the price and being a fan of thier pedals.

I never use sequential on my TH8 and honestly that shifter has no feedback. When you increase the tension the thrustmaster feels even worse. This sounds like it’s more realistic to an actual shifter in a car.

My fanatec shifter is crapping out on me. It miss shifts slowly over 6 months until i open and unplug the board and reset it. I just got the moza and dont like the noise since i play early mornings and its just too loud.

If you'd prefer to avoid potential demonetization s instead of referring to gear stick part "knob" try to remember "gear top" or "gear handle" or even "gear grip" hope that helps 😅

I honestly considered it, issue is that it doesn't have a sequential mode... Fanatec will be the go to, for now. 9:52 You simply can't just say "so what - it doesn't matter" - It does matter, and that's why the fanatec shifter is still wildly more popular. Being in the market for a shifter is being on the market for a SHIFTER, not for a combo deal on a side product. The price increase is not about the mode only, it's also about size, space and finally convenience. If you want to truly compare prices, take a sequential shifter from Moza, and an H pattern shifter, add those prices up and then compare. And yet even if they do a sub $120 sequential shifter, Fanatec would still be a better choice because you wouldn't have to annoyed every time you want to switch patterns.

Personally the Moza shifter is a bargain and will be perfect for those who only want an h pattern shifter, but coming from the fanatec shifter i did feel like i wanted more resistance, i do however love the feeling abd the sound that this shifter makes.

it doesnt matter how good this shifter is, or how affordable it is, when at the end of the day you cant buy one. I have ordered one twice from moza and its never shipped. I am currently at 2 weeks waiting for the 2nd order to ship and nothing.

Fanatec and Moza shifters are both not very good. Anyone creating a commercial for these products is suspect. Very few trustworthy sim reviewers these days. SAD.

I've been using my Fanatec shifter for over 7 years. It has thousands of hours on it, and there is only minor spring fatigue. What makes you think that it and the Moza products are so bad?

So you've tried the Moza shifter have you? Thats amazing how you've come to that conclusion so quickly given that the Shifter was only released on the 20th and its the 28th now. It takes around 8-10 days to ship then 1 to 2 weeks after that to be delivered. How did you get yours so fast? Unless of course you haven't tried it, but you wouldn't formulate an opinion and say something is bad without trying it would you? now that would be......."SAD"

@@CoyoteRacing Funny. My local microcenter has one on their demo rig. It isn't good. This is just another positive review from a channel that gives no negative reviews. Some B-roll with music. A few over enthusiastic words about mediocre product. Some affiliate links to top it off. Quick dirty little commercial and the free product keeps flowing. Pretty nice grift tbh.
