There is no mention of music being haram in Quran. If you think there is please cite surat and ayat. What is in Quran is the warning against making what is not haram into that which is not haram. Al-Ma'idah 5:87 "O ye who believe! make not unlawful the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, but commit no excess: for Allah loveth not those given to excess." As Muslims however we should be selective of the lyrics of the music we listen to. Also if you dont like music or don't want to listen for whatever reason at least don't attribute that restriction to the Quran.

Ask yourself this: when you listen to something, does it keep playing in your mind? Do you randomly sing it or the tune throughout the day? When you are praying, can you focus? Is the tune still randomly playing in your head even the next day? You will get your answer. You are continuously feeding your soul music when the soul is never at peace without Allahs zikr. For me personally, i would have the song playing in my head constantly, even during prayers, even the next day, and I'd keep wanting to listen to the song. What if im dying and on my last breath, instead of the shahada, God forbid im actually thinking of the song? I want to keep on my tongue the words i want to die with in shaa Allah. I am struggling with this a lot because i used to listen to music a lot, acapella mostly, but the acapelle was done in a way that imitated musical instruments. I had myself convinced that it was ok, and it was having no effects on me. But i would go to sleep singing that song, id wake up singing it. Id listen to and sing songs throughout the day obsessively. Even after leaving songs, music is filled everywhere, behind most videos, shorts, ads etc. Its almost impossible to escape. Believe me when i say we are better off without music in our lives, and Allah knows what is best for us. May Allah make it easy for me and for whomever is trying to quit and forgive us for our sins, and grant us the shahada on our last breath ameen.

I can say from my personal experience. Not listening to music changes you mentally and emotionally. The music listen to whatever in this day and age bends and messes with our heads. I genuinely believe it does more harm than good. We are only victims of our thoughts what we begin to think with the music is not an actual thing its more like a delusion. Like I said since I’ve stopped listening to it I feel much much better it gave me a completely new outlook on many things and obviously the challenges are to carry forward with the eyes by controlling desires of looking at certain things and eventually becoming stronger. May Allah help us all.

Music is also a subject. It also, has to follow the guidance, and observe the parameters and boundaries, stated by Islam. No excesses are allowed. لہو و لعب is haram. That applies to ordinary speech also. "Taking too far" is actually, digressing from the straight path. Being moderate is the key. We are not allowed to judge. @cryptonewbie3699 to invent any falsehood ourselves is not encouraged, only Allah has decides whats lawful and unlawful. He gave us so many senses, vision, smell, taste, touch, and ofcourse hearing. He created beautiful things we can see, calming sounds we can listen to, amazing things you can taste. But people can also use those things and be creative with it, you can cook food in many ways, you can make art pieces, so why can't we also do the same with sound. With each of these you can do bad things, like make bad statues or draw inappropriate things, deep fry chicken which takes the nutrients out of it, and I'm sure you can do the same thing with music for example by making it loud and obnoxious, or profane. Allah has given us an abundance of natural amenities, we use them as we intend. One could argue watching videos is haram because there are some very bad videos, but there are also good videos. Oh and to add to that even if you are watching good videos you shouldn't watch too much of them as you may get addicted like you may with good food. To all those muslims who think that music is allowed in islam, stop staying on the borderline. Proohet Muhammad Saww said, “The halaal (permissible) is clear and the haraam (forbidden) is clear, and between them are matters that are mushtabihaat [unclear or doubtful]. Whoever is wary of these doubtful matters has absolved his religion and honor. And whoever indulges in them has indulged in the haraam. It is like a shepherd who herds his sheep too close to preserved sanctuary, and they will eventually graze in it. Every king has a sanctuary, and the sanctuary of Allah is what He has made haraam. There lies within the body a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the whole body is sound; and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted. Verily, it is the heart” (Bukhari and Muslim).

A lot of people confuse the bad effect on music and the suggestions of schoolers to not listen with the legal judgment "Haram", those are not the same, if some schoolers say it is not haram legally that means there is not enough clear proof from sharia to make all kind of music haram ( Only Allah can make something haram ) that doesn't mean is all fine with it. There is a reason why Allah didn't forbid it explicitly - imagine if the Music would be explicit haram like alcohol, every ringtone of a phone would be haram every hearing of the music by passing away would be haram etc Allahu alem

Music has the ability to alter human emotion, including the emotion of sadness and pessimism. It is during low time that the devil can manipulate and enter the subconscious realm of a human. There are many other sins that are committed by Muslims, including the raqis, particularly usury in this End Time, but it is widespread that the pang of conscience when committing this sin is neglected. It is seldom heard that jinn possession is caused by usury practices and addiction because there is less emotion of guilt and restlessness, hence the jinns are less capable of manipulating the emotion. Hence this obsession to correlate jinn possession with sins should be critically examined.

@@wafaadam2396Music isn't Haram 5.87] O you who believe! do not forbid (yourselves) the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits; surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. Allah makes it clear that he does not love the ones who exceed his limits, forbidding music is exceeding limits. “Say, "Did you note how God sends down to you all kinds of provisions, then you render some of them unlawful, and some lawful?" Say, "Did God give you permission to do this? Or, do you fabricate lies and attribute them to God? “ (Al Quran # 10:59) Allah has made it permissible for mankind to listen to music. But people fabricated lies and attributed it to Allah. “Ibn Abbas said, ‘Aishah gave a girl relative of hers in marriage to a man of the Ansar. The Prophet (s.a.w) came and asked, ‘Did you send a singer along with her?’ ‘No,’ she said. The Messenger of Allah then said: ‘The Ansar are a people who love poetry. You should have sent along someone who would sing, ‘here we come, to you we come, greet us as we greet you.'” Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) encouraged music when he went to see the people of Ansar The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Deeds will be judged according to intentions, and everyone will get what he intended.' (Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim.). Accordingly, the one who listens to singing with the intention of using it in support of a sin is a sinner, and this holds true of anything other than singing (as well), while one who listens to singing with the intention of refreshing his soul in order to gain strength to do his duty toward Allah Ta'ala and to do good deeds, is a good and obedient servant of Allah, and his action is of the truth. And he who listens to singing intending neither obedience nor disobedience is doing something neutral and harmless, which is similar to going to the park and walking around, standing by a window and looking at the sky, wearing blue or green cloths, and so on. “Volume 6, Book 61, Number 568: Narrated Abu Musa: That the Prophet said to him’ ‘O Abu Musa! You have been given one of the musical wind-instruments of the family of David .’” Abu Musa was given a wind instrument, if instruments are haram why has this happened? Psalms/Zabur, a holy book in Islam. Did you know that Psalms actually translates to "To play a stringed instrument"? If music is haram would it mean that I cannot read the Psalms? If a hadith has contradictory towards the Psalms, then it is not authentic. There is not one verse in the Quran that explicitly references music as prohibited, if there was music would have been haram. And no, Surah al Luqman 31:6 will not save you And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). This verse states that people that purchase Idle talks (Singing or Music) without knowledge that misleads people from the Path of Allah, then they will be residents of Hellfire. Nowhere in this verse does it say that all music is haram Whoever says that all music is prohibited, let him also claim that the songs of birds are prohibited. - Imam Ghazali. Not all music is haram, only some aspects of music. Music that encourages Zina and intoxicants are haram, not music that encourages the deen and joy. Chart of Halal to Haram music I love Allah Subhana wa ta'ala and I always do my Salah Halal: Encourages the deen The war is long and my companions are gone Mubah: Does not affect the deen I got a gun, went to the church, shot up and had some fun Haram: Encourages Haram things Some notes: 1. Surah Al Luqman 31:6 talking about the people that purchase songs that misguide you, nowhere in this verse does it state all music is haram. 2. Many authentic hadiths of the Prophet state that Music is a sunnah and is okay. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Deeds will be judged according to intentions, and everyone will get what he intended.' (Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim.). Only Music that pulls you away from Allah (SWT) is haram according to this hadith. You should have sent along someone who would sing, ‘here we come, to you we come, greet us as we greet you.'” He encourages Music in this authentic Sahih hadith, so Music is a sunnah. “Volume 6, Book 61, Number 568: Narrated Abu Musa: That the Prophet said to him’ ‘O Abu Musa! You have been given one of the musical wind-instruments of the family of David .’” In this Sahih Hadith it is stated that Abu Musa was given a Wind instrument (Muezmir) by Muhammad (S.A.W). A Muezmir is not a voice, an instrument cannot be imitated by the voice. 3. Why would Allah (SWT) forbid something completely normal and permissible, then change it to a grave sin? Muhammad (S.A.W) would have contradicted the previous prophet Dawud (A.S) by forbidding music, because according to many sources Dawud (A.S) had instruments and sang alot. The Zabur is 100% relevant because it is a holy book revealed by Allah (SWT), you cannot deliberately tell me that I should ignore the word of Allah (SWT).

Obviously you didn't get the message of my comment. What i meant was that instrument of the music tends to take you to another "world", that we try to escape our problems listening to it. Just like the alcoholic person do. But if you ever seen the Hollywood singers almost 80 % of them declares that have selt the soul to the evil. At least admit it that music it really makes you weak mentally. Me too unfortunately listen to the music, but WAllahi i would say that if i listen for too long music, my heart become hard when it comes to hearing the Qur'an. So we should be sincere and we should not try to deform our religion without studying it. We all know that music it's Haram , do not act like we don't. The more you listen to music the more you heart hates listening Qur'an, may Allah forgive us . Forgive me if I was a bit harsh on you.

@@user-kd7bu6ff3x Wa Alaikum Salaam You do not provide proof this comes from god. You have just stated your own observation. Everyone agrees most music is bad for you. Top 40 artists promote terrible things. The Quran forbids murder and alcohol and zina. But Says nothing about music. Music is only mentioned in Hadith. And based on research there is debate over this particular Hadith. You may say its clear and it’s haram but then you ask someone else they’ll say music is allowed if there is no haram lyrics or dancing and there isn’t mixing of the sexes. @@Ghjkl-eb2sv It's true my brother, just like i said to you I grew up with music cuz my parents didn't teach me about Islam bcz Islam was presented to us just like a tradition. Then Alhamdulilah i learned about my religion and now i pray salah, fast Ramadan ect.. Alhamdulilah. But I'm not strong enough to leave completely the music, even though i tried many ways to leave it. To me it's completely clear, I've becomed so much attached to music that my hearts finds difficult to listen to the Qur'an. I think this is enough to understand that music distract our hearts from Qur'an. Believe me I would love so much to leave music definitely, cuz I'm not happy after listening to it. May Allah forgive us cuz whenever i see the Palestinian brothers and sisters i know that my Iman is so weak comparing to them. My heart cries whenever I see kids dying every day. Music isn't Haram 5.87] O you who believe! do not forbid (yourselves) the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits; surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. Only Music that pulls you away from Allah (SWT) is haram according to this hadith.

He's speaking the truth. Most of the commenters here are simply parroting what they've learned from standard Indo Pak ulema. I've personally studied with a lot of well traineed Deobandi scholars and those who've studied with Shafi and Hanafi Syrian shuyukh. There is well known difference of opinion but you'll only know about this if you've exposed yourself to scholars from different countries and madhabs. African, Arab, Malaysian, Indonesian, Turkish - in fact probably over 50% of Muslim scholars know well this difference. If you only listen to scholars who are Indo Pak or who've only studied in either Saudi or an Indo Pak darul uloom then you'll only be aware of the 'music is haram' ruling. They also say it's haram to wear modern trousers below the ankles 😅. I've met serious scholars and students of knowledge who have devoted their whole life to Quran and Sunnah, and their lives are filled with dhikr. And they have pianos in their living rooms. Let the actual message of the Quran guide you. Allah has so much guidance in His book for us to get busy with that there is not a single CLEAR ayah about music. So don't waste time/life worrying about it!

It's like the Saudi moonsighting issue. I've spoken to so many Indo Pak Deobandi scholars who publicly support or follow Saudi moon announcements for Ramadan/Eid. But if you ask them privately, they'll admit that there is no strong fiqh reason to blindly follow Saudi and they realize the sightings have been very dodgy, etc. Similarly with music, they will never openly reveal the nuanced and differences of opinion that exist. This is because Deobandi scholars strictly follow a principle of 'protecting the public from fitnah'. However, in recent years this approach has been challenged as it's dumbing the public down and leads to ignorance. That's why our leading scholars in terms of dawah and influence - Nouman Ali Khan himself, Omar Suleman, Hamza Yusuf, etc. will never speak about music or condemn it, etc. They know the Quran doesn't emphasise it so they don't. In contrast ignorant lay Muslims and some literalist/narrow-minded scholars tend to over emphasise and make a big deal about music, clothing, fist length beards and other topics of complete irrelevance to the pressing matters which actually support the Cause of Allah.

Music isn't Haram 5.87] O you who believe! do not forbid (yourselves) the good things which Allah has made lawful for you and do not exceed the limits; surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits. Only Music that pulls you away from Allah (SWT) is haram according to this hadith.

Guys please understand we don't follow Quran alone, we also follow the suna and hadith of prophet Muhammad, did Quran told us how to pray how to make wudu? No, we should understand that the sunnah is very important just like Quran, and prophet Muhammad is important, prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said: There will be people from my nation who will make silk, wine and musical instruments permissible (halal).

I saw this full 8 min clip and it is such a disappointment He made it very clear that he is not a scholar of hadith so much so that he is even afraid to quote hadith . Since he considers him self an expert of Quran and thinks he has full authority to interpret it without hadith and considers using hadith as sin and a crime on his own (since he is a little helpless baby when it comes to hadith) Conclusion : 1. NAK an Expert of Quran 2. NAK not an Expert of Hadith Means : Understanding on an Islamic topic can be concluded only from Quran, ignoring everything that hadith has to say about it.... why ... because Nauman Ali Khan unfortunately is expert of Quran and not of Hadith. That is why he omits all understanding and perspective that a hadith gives on a topic and only use Quran to explain that topic. And three cheers for Nauman Ali Khan he went to south african ulima, he wend to Turkish Ulima of Hadith, he went to hanafi ulima ... he even traveled as far as New York and met a rare Alim of Hadith meeting whom is such an honor that he feels him self to be so lucky. But he did not go to Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah and he did not go to Islamic University in Madeena, because scholars of newyork, turkey and sufis are much more reliable scholars. Such a Disappointment... Since he already declared he is not a mufti .. here is a fatwa from a proper mufi on this topic, islamqa.info/en/answers/5000/is-music-haram

He never gave a fatwa nor did he say he was scared to use hadith. He just made it clear that he is not a scholar on it. However he did say his expertise with the Quran allows him a say, which I don’t see nothing wrong with. So using what he knows he told us about the link of “idle talk” and he explained how the narration has a fault it’s it’s chain which makes it invalid. Which is not confusing to understand, and a person as he is wouldn’t go around lying to get his point across. Since it is false the claim people make between idle talk and music falls apart because that was the only narration that was holding it up. I think that’s easy to understand even if he was a scholar in hadith or not. Also he mentioned that was the only time music was even mentioned in the Quran. So we turn to hadith which he doesn’t really talk about because he is not an expert. So he turns to people who are, and everyone says they don’t have a problem with it. I’ve also just heard the same thing. My question is, why is it disappointing? He isn’t there to spread falsehood nor is he lying to gain benefit. He is saying what he has heard and even questioned many other people who give fatwa to make sure that music isn’t ACTUALLY haram. So why are you putting his words down when he clearly put the effort into asking many people from varying places? If what you say is true wouldn’t everyone say the same thing which is music is haram?

@@musabghany8213akhi, music is haram. if he explains from the quran that it isnt, it doesnt mean we only follow quran. to be a true muslim, we follow quran and the sunnah. hadith is part of the sunnah and right aqeedah. if there's hadith about musical instruments being haram, then end of debate. no need to make a video thru quranic perspective that which hadith clearly states. i dont see the point of doing this video when he's only expert in one field of islam, he shouldn't talk about such topics somehow misleading ppl into making them believe that quran didnt forbid it so they believe its allowed. when its not. no hadith scholar should talk about something thats not mentioned in hadith but mentioned in quran. and likewise, no quran scholar should talk about sth thats mentioned in the hadith. hadith and quran go hand in hand. half knowledge and expertise doesnt allow u to spread a whole context on a topic that's defined in the other. likewise, dajjal isn't mentioned in quran. so br. nouman ali khan doesnt believe in dajjal either because its only mentioned in hadith and because he's no hadith scholar, he can claim dajjal isnt mentioned in quran so there's no dajjal?

@@WMS000 The video didn't put down hadith in any manner. Nor did I say I only listen to the Quran and don't look at hadith. There is actually a hadith of the prophet allowing the use of musical instruments during Eid (Bukhari Book 58 Hadith 268). Someone that I know said that "something haram would not be made halal on certain days". So you have to ask "Why didn't the prophet stop them if it was haram?". Anyways, back to the video. So, he didn't put down hadith but he didn't quote it either. Instead, he quoted the people who ACTUALLY study hadith and give fatwa. Also, to clarify that not ALL music is okay to listen to, and there are ofc music that is certainly Haram. That's basically it. He didnt say just because its not in the Quran it's halal, he just debunked the verse people use to argue against music because the narraration is not authentic.

The quran didn't say smth. And a hadith could be wrong. The Quran doesn't lie. While a hadith could. There is 1 hadith prohibiting it:Sahih Al bukhari 55:90 and 2 hadith permitting it: I forgot the verses but one was that Aisha sang and someone played the tambourine. And the other one said that if Muhammad (SAW) won the war he would bang the tambourine.Quran stayed still. In surah Al luqman singing is mentioned as a waste of time or it can lead U away From the path of Allah but.Its mentioned as idle talk which Is not only singing (false speech and etc..)And not every singing is idle talk and it's not even prohibiting it.I believe that lyrics make it haram and last but not least THE FKING MUSIC VIDEO.(Pop music is haram because the music videos are not normal THEYRE pornos. If u have another opinion pls answer with proof
