The rest of the tube is not trash. Remove the mixing nozzle and cap the tube. Usually you can buy new mixing nozzles. The epoxy is only mixed in the nozzle.

That Autel scanner is a wonder of repairablity! Among many other things, I repair laptops, and the last time I had to repair a touch screen was on an ASUS Zenbook...and the touch overlay was actually glued to the screen. It took me a couple of hours, a bag of guitar pics, a heat gun and a plastic spatula to eventually get the digitizer off the screen! I decided after that if I had a customer bring in another system with similar screen with a broken digitizer, , I would spec out the price for the entire screen/digitizer unit, not just the digitizer itself! Hats off to Autel!

You do not need to throw away the rest of the tube, you just have to unscrew the mixing tube carefully and clean the two separat colours and put the cap back on.

I have a few epoxy anchors on my lift. I found out they have a different torque spec vs wedges. I have a Launch scanner that is a clone of that Autel. It might not be as good, but they used an off the shelf IBM tablet inside of it and parts are cheap. I'm sure you know, but Android OS supports a mouse. You can still use the scanner with a mouse plugged in.

Loving your videos and John Ross. Iv been following your channel for a very long time now and this is definitely my favourite channel. You do need to start working on building your subscriber count though John Ross! It only ever goes up real slow which for an amazing channel like this isn't right, that subscriber amount should be over a million by now brother!!! What can we all do to help???

The digitizer screen is glued in really well, be patient and take a hot air gun to it and keep eating it up and gently prodding at it with pics. The replacement screen comes with the sticky tape already on it. There was a great short video on complete disassembly and reassembly of that unit.

Good content! I have an Autel MaxiSys Elite and it was about $2500 with a two year subscription for updates. The only downside is $1200 a year for software updates after the two year period. Still, works great! Also, I spec in Simpson SET epoxy for bolts on all of my jobs that require bolts for shear walls hold downs - I quit using wedge anchors a long time ago.

I first got an mk808, screen broke when something got between unlatched case and screen with weight on it. I ordered a replacement screen& digitizer on eBay but was sent the wrong one. Any fixers are welcome to both for cost of shipping. Scored an elite used with everything except the ecu programming tool. Nice to see it easily taken apart. Stoked to watch what else you do with it that your 909 can't. Would love an in-depth demo of autel TPMS tools you and car ninja used on Maserati

What you are seeing is the rolling shutter effect. The camera bascially records the image left to right, top to bottom. But the light is flickering very fast to reduce it's brightness (PWM dimming), due to the mismatch in those two you get this effect. The camera adapts the shutter speed when filming through the glass to make the image brighter again, this makes the flickering disappear, because it syncs to it basically.

That sucks, thats what scares me about those expensive scanners. I have a Autel DS808 which was about as expensive as I wanted to go because of concerns about it breaking or not working. Wish they had Autel Care like DJI does, their support isn’t the greatest, there are so many sellers and sometimes they want you to send it back to China.

If you need the outer case for the digitizer, the case should separate with a heat gun, assuming it is glued in, the heat should soften up the glue enough to take the digitizer out and leave the case intact for the new digitizer.

Edit: surely the Autel disaster is an opportunity for a collaboration with Louis Rossmann. I'm sure Rich will give JR LR's contact details (for a fee, naturally). Even if it was something non-Autel disaster-related, that would be a very interesting interaction to see. I bet LR's never been to Kansas ;)
