Why did you silicone the gasket? Bad idea on a LS...smear a little at the 4 corners where the rear main and front covers meet...

@@autotechaaron it looked rung on my phone...with your description and how you were handling it, it came off like you coated it... I see quite a few kids do this and end up with oiling issues. ...and I am absolutely dense to boot....it was an honest question...by a person that has been building engines and v8 mini trucks for over 40 years. Was not trying to offend. Quite the opposite. Really enjoy your content.

You running the DOT wheels or the comp version. If comp version did they balance alright?

They’re Bassett racing wheels. The balanced okay but they’re slightly bent.

6 quarts minimum for your engine. And yes too much oil can cause oil leaks. Still need to fix that exhaust set up if you want to be a tribute to the NASCAR styling. Needs to exit the passenger side and be a boom tube. lol

It has a 5qt pan, not a factory 6qt

Are you going to race this round track or just drive it on the street?, I'm no expert but it looks like you went way past the street in your build and if your going round track racing I might consider losing the leafs in favor of a coil over setup.

It’s actually a perfect little street truck. Very stable and fun to drive. But I plan on doing some autocross with it. I will eventually 4 link it, just not sure when

5 qts? the new ls motors take 8qts and the others take 6 qts doesnt matter if you got a 5 qt oil pan you still have oil in the filter and other places id go 6qts brotha if you look up 5.3 vortec like 2005 it take 6 qts any of the newer ones take qts

It’s an aftermarket 5qt pan. Made to only hold 5qts.

Was going to say the same thing. 6 is the minimum unless you have a modified pan.

@@mikemchaney1003 it’s an aftermarket “muscle car engine swap” pan, it’s made to hold 5 qts. 6 makes it overfull, 5 is not on the dipstick.
