In my experience, if you have to ask, there's your answer. I also had a lightbulb moment when Craig said that avoidants often pretend that their childhood was great when it wasn't. I've experienced that as well, and I mistake their saying they had a loving childhood as a sign they're secure. Thank you Margaret for that insight!

I always assumed my ex was secure, but now realizing that he’s avoidant. I’m anxious. If he contacts me again, I will try to introduce him to attachment theory, for his own good, even if we don’t work out. Watching these videos has made everything click- it all makes sense now.

very important. Thank you. And yes, do have boundaries with people who behave like the partner here. You must protect yourself, as Craig said. Even, boundaries is where the miracle can happen and the other person starts to trust you more - because they now can respect you more, and they now know you have some strength and thus are reliable.

Is it possible for someone stubborn to want to come back? My ex is a dismissive avoidant, we literally broke up because of his commitment issues, I know he still loves me (close source) but he also hates to admit when he made a mistake and is very, very proud. He's reached out more than me since we broke up a few months ago, but I've decided not to reach out at all since a month ago.

It would appear, and much like my entire life, that I am the exception every single rule. My avoidant ex, is never returning, not even to exchange a single pleasantry. I don’t know what I did, or why she ended it, but it happened, it’s 2 years later and apparently she’s happy in her new relationship, a year plus, ghosted from the end of it. Apparently she has a super power to just walk away from an engagement and never give a single shit and ghost. Mind boggling

I know your hurting deep inside, but trust me brother, from the description you gave, your hurting from deep internal emotional traumas . You should search up deep inside on your anxiety issues. That would really help.

It’s been 36 days of NC with my FA girlfriend, we both still have pictures with each other on Facebook and she has watched all my stories within an hour of posting. Should I change my profile picture and delete her on socials? I can’t help but look at the socials and location since we still have that as well.

firstly, if she is your ex-girlfriend, then remember that, that she is no longer your girlfriend, and she's not even your friend right now, as she is your ex-girlfriend and she has excommunicated you. if you find it difficult to keep her on your social media accounts.. then remove her. if you allow her the time to miss you and to reconsider.. then she may. in this kind of situation you may want her to reach out sooner.. but the longer she takes, the longer you have to do the personal work and growth for yourself.. it may be tempting to diagnose her and think of her issues.. but it will be more productive and healthy to focus on your own. everything comes together in time... and surprisingly things may come together very differently than imagined

Many of Us want to know Is He an avoidant or Just not that into Me ? My guy has left Me twice Due to what He says time and distance .He felt pressured and stressed Last week We reunited , pushing from my side ( I’m Anxious) He went away and no contact for 2 1/2 days Finally a small text . I felt extremely hurt He said He would call the next night , no call , gave no reason but would call in 2 days This time I was fuming angry . I text with anger but honesty due to my hurt Now He has ghosted Me
