Great result mate, look like you took your own advice! Good on you for walking down the pitch and making it happen, even though you were still scratching around a bit. No doubt the mental shackles will come off when the pitches harden up a touch and the commute is a bit shorter. All the best and waiting eagerly for the next one mate!

I have watched a few of your videos and you seem to be a little less comfortable against spin. I had the same problem many years ago. I bribed two spin bowlers (with beer and pizzas) to bowl at me for a couple of hours and it really helped. I also worked hard on my sweep and late cut. I hope this helps you. Please keep making the videos they are great.

Great game to watch. Having watched how you played at woodhall all i would suggest is you don't get tunnel vision about having to hit big to make a telling contribution. This team has some big hitters around you so just keep feeding them the strike and put away the bad ball when you can. I could imagine it can sometimes feel a little bit pressured seeing someone come straight in and hit sixes from the get go. Stick with your style and make it work for the team :)

Try taking a bigger first step against spinners. You will be able to make more runs by whacking them over mid-on/mid-off more often forcing them to alter their length and come shorter at you which you seem to prefer. Currently you are scoring mostly off the back foot especially early in your innings…you won’t get too much pace on the ball off the back foot
@longjohn53225 ай бұрын
Keep working Gareth. A few extra runs off the legs or hip was the only reason this wasn’t a run a ball innings. Keep jumping on the short and the full stuff, you’ll be right.
@ShadowRay045 ай бұрын
I agree, but the defensive play against spinners is probably the biggest reason. Its easier to get those singles and less chance of dropping the wicket. I'm sure he's scared of nicking it against the fastest bowlers hence why he doesn't play of the hips much

It's good to see you getting some runs. I've been shat on in the past by some people for calling you out for taking far too long to get going. I just feel that you will play better by being more aggressive. That seems to be your nature. In the past videos it felt like you were just hanging around because you have the GoPro and need content? There's holding an end and there's holding up an end. Anyway; once again, good to see you in the runs.

You are such a slow starter mate. You cant be taking 15-20 balls to get set all the time. Dont get me wrong, if the bowler just bowls straight wkt to wkt, you do not have any have scoring options. You have a great cut shot from all the videos i have seen. Need to work on those singles with wrist work and little positive intent in the middle. Too slow 90% of the times.

@@SportisGOAT Agreed. Can get big runs if set and catch up in terms of SR later. Not sure about the level of competition he plays at, but anyway you look at it, he starts way too slow and doesn't have any shots rather than singles and cut shot for the initial 30-40 balls. Just a constructive feedback, closely matched teams or down the tournament, he won't get away with it. If it's fun cricket with no promotions/relegations, I have no problem. Cricket is fun
