Well, I don't think it's based on inteligence or wisdom but her battle experiance - she fought demons and other demonic powers so she should know when something is /wrong/. Meantime, Lae'Zel is not from this World, SH has amnesia and no experiance and Gale spent whole life in basement - i mean, in magical tower and kissing gods. He probably never was outside 😂

This is so interesting, as it contextualizes the bite scene if playing as anyone else. He was testing to see if Cazador's orders really could be broken, very interesting.

I am not sure I understand how does it contextualizes that it's someone else, where it says Astarion Origin bites. I have a video where it says Companion bites+Dark Urge, and there it would be playing as the Origins and Astarion being a companion biting you in the normal scene that all Tav's get 😅

@resonatinglo the beginning part, I mean, his dream and the part where he's considering biting the others. I presume the Companion version of Astarion experienced the same dream and decided to bite the player in the same way.

@@resonatinglo I mean there's a lot of evidence throughout the game to suggest that the Origin stuff happens regardless of whether you play as the Origin character or not, unless it's something you directly control. For instance we know that Astarion will claim he forgot about kidnapping the Gur kids, but if you play him in Origin the narrator explicitly says he remembers it clearly. If you ask him about it when you find Gandrel he'll come up with a whole line of bs about how it must be a power play from Cazador, but if you confront him about the kids in front of the Gur he'll be all "ahah yes well umm now that you mention it...." Which is to say, Origin is accurate, he 100% remembers what happened, and he's lying. You can catch him in the lie and call him out if you play an original Tav character. We also know that Astarion feeds on a boar on night 2 and tries to bite Tav on night 3, meaning he's not that hungry. That's actually more than he's eaten when he first meets and attacks you. In fact on night 3 when he tries to bite Tav, he's the most well fed he's ever been as a vampire. So we know he's lying about being too hungry to hunt.

Poor boy, I hate all of it. It makes a lot of sense though why he bites Tav tho. Also when you realize he's never had a proper meal, his blood lust and ability to accidentally kill Tav makes more sense, too.

@@resonatinglo I think in the case of Wyll and Astarion it's due to following their character motives/canons. Wyll is a bit ignorant and blinded by his moral alignment this early in the game. (hells he can't even tell a Tiefling from an actual devil at first. He nearly kills the kindest/most closely aligned to his morals out of that ignorance.) The developers probably figured at this point telling him would have, realistically, had him attack Astarion and on top of that Astarion canonically isn't stupid enough to tell the Blade of Frontiers (the famed 'defender of the people', monster/abomination killer) that he's a vampire spawn. That's the same, if not worse, as walking up to a Gur and telling them that. I just don't think the developers felt like would make any sense for the characters if Astarion told him. He barely even tells TAV until he's been caught literally trying to bite them. Lol

During my first playthrough as Tav when he said "you were the first" I was just rolling my eyes. There was no way he had never fed on any sentient creature in 200 years and then just randomly decided to lean in for a bite while I was sleeping. Took me until his origin playthrough to realize that he had been very much honest about that. Also, in this context it makes a lot more sense why he really dislikes being told to only feed on animals although he has already done so for two centuries. It's just the same fucking rule AGAIN, just when he thought he had lost those shackles.

The way Wyll found out in mine? I bit Wyll, he didn’t wake up (had to reload when I initially killed him), and then I figured “hey, why am I STILL being asked to tell him, he must know he got bit…” Then the fight with the Gur outside Ethel’s and he confronts me about NOT telling him despite the fact he already knew due to Astarion’s appearance. Except Wyll made a comment about Astarion gnawing on the occasional bandit or whatever…I NEVER ONCE used my bite outside of the already mentioned scene…so, how could Wyll have seen Astarion anyone else?

Do you know that later when they speak the small banter, Astarion asks Wyll is he has dealt with Vampires before and if he knows who Cazador is, and I think Wyll just says No... that he had never dealt with vamps... soo.... I don't know...

Yes... I made the mistake to bite someone in the beginning and this never triggered... so I had to make a new campaign so I can record the scene. I did 2 longs rests and you have it... and don't bite anyone 😁🍷🗡

@@resonatinglo yeah, that was my mistake, too 😮‍💨 It was so convenient because the mob had like 4 hp or something. It would probably be better to not have the ability yet, so you don't miss such a vital scene. Or some inner monologue that you don't want to reveal you're a vampire. Because I totally forgot that in the moment. Anyways, thank you for the effort to replaying and recording it, so I don't have to 💖💖💖

I was seeing this scene in other videos and didn't know how to trigger it, so when I got to act 2 and had no nightmare, something was clearly off , so I read about his quest if you are the Origin Astarion and there's like a diary that he keeps and there you can read when you bit someone and how it progressed. But I recorded the scene and went back to the original save of of being already in act 2

Confessing, Bite ability, and if the vampire hunter outs you this wont trigger afaik. I tested it a bit back in patch 5 with all companions (if you recruit them before resting at all). Wyll gets a bit mad if you are caught biting him. Karlach bite scene bugged out for me. Unless it was meant to skip automatically since you know Karlach radiates hot fire. Astarion went with another companion in my case Shadowheart. The three bite victims are chosen by which ones you traveled with before said rest I think. Is it possible to delay this scene by playing a dead astarion until you get the later comps though idk. I guess this is an act 1 only scene.

Wait if this is in act one I might have missed it because 5 min after meeting Shadowheart and having her in my party I kinda revealed that I was a vampire after trying to bite the boar at the beginning and Shadowheart was surprised but chill about it, then it was never spoken of again with the new companions, everyone just knew I guess

It is in the very beginning if you do nothing vampy related or tell no one that you are one, then a few long rests... maybe 2 or 3 LR into the game, you will have it
