Thank you for this video. I actually found an unexpected problem with one word. I had a word written down with an i (I) in it, when it was actually an l (L). May have amounted to nothing - but you never know. I would say to everyone - CHECK YOUR SEED PHRASE even if you think it's correct.

I actually did not pass the check. Checked all my words and they are correct. I must have written down the wrong order? Not sure but I am moving funds and about to reset my ledger and get a new set of words. Great video and tutorial. Thanks!

So awesome, thank you for this app. I'm old-school maxi(well some ltc) and I have an envelope filled with various 24 key phrases from old ledgers. Silly me I wasn't good at naming things. Wouldn’t typing in your recovery phrase to check as a backup pose a risk of someone being able to see it? If it’s from an app through Ledger Live, how can we be sure it’s secure?

I asked myself the same question, and did some research on it ( Ledger btw are really good about explaining security, scam and other thing). And if i understood correclty, as long as your are on your device ( not computer, but the ledger device ), and be careful about why you need to enter it, you are safe. If i'm wrong, pls feel free to correct me

@@dequinclement8232 Totally right. Ledger Live is only used to download Recovery Check app to your Ledger device. Then the check process involve that you input your 12/24 words exclusively/directly on your Ledger device, which is totally secure.

@@mondoburger9535 nope it cant be possible sir, as its being enter on your ledger device, its not infected, if your computer WAS infected and you type it on a notepad or made a digital foot print of it somehow on your computer, then thats a different scenario and yes it would be exposed. But as you are checking it on just the ledger, there is no way it could be mirror to the pc

Hi, yes you can surely use set up your Ledger device with a new 24 words recovery phrase. You simply need to enter 3 Wrong PIN codes to reset your device to factory settings. And then you'll be able to set it up with a new set of recovery phrases. We hope this helps.

Hey there, I am hoping you might be able to help. I just got a new ledger and set it up on a new computer and downloaded Ledger Live. I transferred coins. I then transferred the coins out and to reset as a new leger with a new 24 seed phrase. After I did this and opened up the new account under the new seed phrase, it was showing my transaction history from the first seed phrase. I recovered the initial seed phrase and then back to the 2nd seed phrase and now it does not show the transaction history. I am not sure why it did that. Maybe I did something wrong initially but now I am concerned something is wrong with the ledger or ledger live. I bought the ledger from the official manufacturer. Any help you can give is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey - if reset your Ledger Live app then it will erase the transaction from your history section. You can surely check your 24 words seed phrase via the Recovery check app but not in My Ledger section as it might cause connection issues during the process.

​@@Ledger I have a problem. I bought a new genuine ledger and sent coins to it and then transferred them out. After I did this, and all coins are out of ledger, I got a transaction that I did not do showing "received" for one of the coins I already transferred out but the amount "received" does not even show an amount not even a 0. All it shows is the scammers address. I viewed transaction on etherscan and is showing from Fake_Phishing. What is this? I am really concerned. This happened on another ledger that I have which is genuine where I sent coins to an exchange and see the actual transaction showing sent and the amount but then another transaction is showing I sent the same coins again with a different address from what I used to send to actual exchange. The amount sent again does not provide an amount not even 0. All it shows is the scammers address. I did not do this transaction either. Checked etherscan and showing Fake_Phishing. The two times this has happened, it has happened with the same ERC20 coin. The reason I bought the new ledger is because I thought when it happened the first time on my original ledger that it may have been compromised but then happens again on second ledger. One fake transaction showing received on the brand new ledger and one fake transaction showing sent on the original. Is this a zero transfer scam or poisoning scame? What do I do as I am very conerned. Can you please help?

On my desktop with one of my ledgers, I sent one specific ERC20 coin from ledger to exchange and see the transaction history for it. But after that transaction, there is another transaction showing "sent" that I did NOT do. This transaction shows same name of coin and an address that has the same first and last 5 characters as address I used but shows nothing was sent and does not even show a zero. It just shows the name of coin and the scammers address and shows "sent". That is it. I can understand how I can receive coins from a scammer but how is it I can have a transaction showing "sent" (which nothing was sent) with the scammers address? I did not use the scammers address to send anything. The scammer transaction showing nothing sent appeared in my transaction history about 18 minutes after I actually sent the coins to an exchange and received the transaction info in transaction history for sending coins to the exchange. Because this is a transaction showing "sent" would this mean that this ledger is compromised? And to add to that, when I sent the same coins back to my ledger from the exchange, it shows that I received them twice in my transaction history or have a duplicate of the same transaction. Second incident was on my laptop with a brand new ledger I bought after the first incident with new seed phrase. I transferred coins to this ledger then transferred them all out. I show in my transaction history a transaction that is showing "received" which provides the same ERC20 coin as first incident and shows the scammers address but does not provide an amount not even a zero. The scammers address in this incident also has the same first and last 5 characters as the address I used to send coin to a different wallet. I received this scammer transaction after I already moved these coins to another wallet. Is this ledger compromised as well? This is ALL very concerning to me and need your help. I scanned my computers and they are clean. I do not have malware. I had two separate incidences/scams with two different ledgers with different seed phrases on different computers with both scams targeting the same ERC20 coin. It seems scammers are tracking different addresses I have been sending this coin. How do I resolve this? What is going on? Will this happen again if I put these coins on a new ledger with new 24 word seed phrase? Please be thorough in explanation and how to resolve.

Hello, without looking at your Ethereum address it is not easy to tell what exactly happened. So you said that you see a transaction saying that funds were sent to the scammer. It is possible that you have interacted with a malicious smart contract. Therefore, you need to look up your token approvals and verify if you have approved a scam token. Damn, after taking all that time to enter 24 words, it said mine was invalid. And we can't just scroll back to see if we made any wrong choices. I have to do it all over again? Why doesn't it stop you as soon as you make a wrong choice? I've had to do 24 words, three times now. The first two times it said invalid as soon as I finished the last word and the third time it said Processing and then said invalid. 😞 Damn, I don't want to have to move all of my positions out and delete all of my accounts and wallets. I think I've got the right words, but I had changed the seed phrase last year and wrote them down three words across and eight lines on the back of the card instead of two columns of twelve down like on the front side of the card. What an idiot. I've tried to enter them two different ways, but no luck.

Fourth time was the charm. I have no idea what I did wrong before. I entered the same words! Maybe when scrolling through the list of word choices, I chose one that looked very similar to the correct one. The Ledger screen is so small and maybe I misread the tiny letters.

Because it can't check the individual words, only the complete phrase. Your individual words are not stored on the device.
