I really enjoy this channel. I'm new to the world of tarantulas. I have a juvenile Aphonopelma Seemanni and a 1" sling of the Brachypelma Hamorii- species. Your blog was my introduction to learning about tarantulas in general earlier this year and randomly wrote "tarantula heaven" on YT and found this channel. Tons of help and knowledge acquired thanks to you. Thank you very much. Best regards from the rural parts of Sweden :) .

Hey Patti :) The thing I would add to this is, right after a molt, after the spider has righted itself, they can very often sit in VERY strange positions while they just get stuff working again. I've noticed with my slings, that they'll often look like they're in a semi death curl with most legs curled under them. In fact, they're just patiently waiting till they can stretch out properly.

Same here: 5yr old Mexican Fire Leg currently in 2nd week post-molt and I found her with half her legs folded underneath. Literally looked like beginning of a death curl. Then 30 mins later repositioned and stretched out.

I was terrified that Spidey had passed away then...it's crazy how attached I get to other peoples' tarantulas! Informative as ever, despite making my heart sink for a second.

Don't apologise! It's my own brain being tuned into KZbin clickbait nonsense from scrolling. You're not a person who does that so I should have made the connection logically sooner. Totally on me :)

Ah! I came to the right place and you made this at the perfect time for me! Haha I was just watching my A. chalcodes, Ethel and he looked just fine! But a few hours later, I could have sworn he was in a death curl. All but 3 of his legs were curled under and I freaked out. I started tapping on the glass to startle him and he finally moved out of the position when I reached in and he hasn't gone back since. He DOES get in weird grooming positions so I have to assume this is what he was doing. Definitely keeping an extremely close eye on him though! Uuuugh

Hi, this is an old video, but I'm hoping you might be able to help me. My sibling's tarantula isn't moving, even when lightly touched, and she's showing clear signs of dehydration. I found her in her water bowl, which had a very thin layer of water in it, and I was able to move her out of it without hurting her, and in the process I saw that her fangs were black. she wasn't in a death curl, and she molted a week or two ago if I remember correctly. Do tarantulas still respond to touch if they're dying? I don't know if it's too late to try getting her into a makeshift ICU.

I'm so sorry for my late response. What happened with this T?

Hii, just wondering if you could give some insight. My tarantula (brazilian white knee) is eating fine, and not showing any signs of being ill. Her abdomen look completely normal. However she's started putting her legs almost bent under her. When I throw food in during this she will go for it. She doesn't seem to be showing signs of dehydration as her waters always filled. She's by no means old, roughly 6 years old and looks to be female. Is there anything you could suggest that might be wrong or am I over reacting. This has been going off for weeks at least 2 or 3 easily. But she's webbing fine and overall everything normal. Can you help me.
@TarantulaHeaven Жыл бұрын
Hmm...given that your tararntula is doing all the other things just fine, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Sometimes my tarantula will even put a few of her legs underneath her for no reason, and sometimes its because she is in a weird position from cleaning herself. I know it's scary to see, but as long as your tarantula is eating and being normal otherwise I don't think you have a reason to worry.
@Characterswrite3 жыл бұрын
Have you ever had one somewhat curl their legs under after or while eating?
@TarantulaHeaven3 жыл бұрын
Yes, sometimes my tarantula will pull a few of her legs under her while she is grooming after eating, or even during a meal!

An ICU is actually a bad idea cos tarantulas cannot absorb hydration through the skin like frogs. And if it is a dryliving speicies or Avicularia the ICU:s stuffy, moist, warm Environment is more likely to kill the tarantula rather than the tarantula dies from the issues you are trying to cure in the first place! If a tarantula is in a deathcurl and one is suspecting dehydration, a much better solution is putting your tarantua so that its mouthparts is within water or flip it upside down and drip water on its mouth

Yes, this is a very large tank for a G. rosea. However I find that she liked to interact with the different spots in her tank and she does certain things in certain areas. She has a smaller underground enclosed area where she can go if she wants to be in a smaller space.

It's always hiding in it cork bark. Maybe see its legs once every 2 weeks lol never out. 2 days ago. I seen a web it made outside the bark. Was chillin on it. Very slow like. So I sprayed the web. Today I found it on the ground. Still there. It's not on its back, but is moving around slowly

Worried cuz it the 2nd one out of the 2 u ordered from this place. The other being a flame knee. That past away during a molt. About 5 months ago. Soo hoping it's in premolt 🤞

Woke up this morning... it's still on the ground in the corner. But it's still on top of it toes. Like it's legs don't look weak. Noticed it's coloring is also darkened up a bit
