The Cappella illegal screen at midcourt could be for reasons of time and space. In FIBA, you need to give a moving player without the ball the chance to avoid contact, which usually is interpreted as about 1 yard space where you can't move anymore and he needs to come to you. If there is a similar concept in the NBA, Capella basically jumps into the path and only just stops moving (barely), when contact is made
