He’s not mobile enough (on offense or defense). Players don’t fear his hesitation moves anymore and he gets no lift on his jump shots and layups. All of these detriments can be overlooked if he had a high iq and was a good passer but he isn’t that either. Just look at wade, he’s been washed physically since age 32 but his IQ, conditioning and ability to play point gave him an extended career in the league. Time for melo to retire

It's really the loss of his rapid first step that makes his iso-game terrible. No point in hesitation moves if you can't get by anyone. @Shabaka Smkss They we're trying to be cheap. The new owner doesn't want to pay the luxury tax. I guess no one told him to have a Finals level team in the NBA you have to go into the tax. Also they paid Chris Paul way to much for his age and injury history.
@TheBamfinator6 жыл бұрын
@@carboy101 The owner and GM both went out of their way during the preseason to say that they were ready to go into the luxury for the right piece(why they pushed so hard for Butler during his whole debacle). Also to be fair, Melo played significantly better than the last guy we had at his position(Ryan Anderson).

He left Denver for the spotlight of NY. Not to win, because the Knicks gutted the team to get him. He wanted the NY limelight. And when he got there, all he ever talked about was being a rich entrepreneur. In the court, he only cared about was touched on offense. If you ever thought he gave a shit about defense...rewatch this video. Only thing he wanted was to get paid, get points, and stay famous. For him and his wife. If he really wanted to win, he would have stayed with the Nuggets. That team could have done well, and continued to improve. But again, he wasn't interested in winning and competing. He had that Syracuse year, but Boeheim always had talent and wins, so he hardly can take sole credit for that year.

@@trooperjoe73 Right! TMac made it outta the first round and was an elite defender too!! So much to the point people feared him defensively!!! Melo and George Karl's relationship was like Jordan and Phil!!! He is so proud of Melo and Kenyon he says their father's absence(true or not) are why they are, the way they are! Melo was so selfish to leave Denver because of him! Melo went to college in NY but he wasn't even born in NY... so it's not like goin home would have anything to do with him wanting to play in NY.. I mean, after all, the Knicks made it to & won many playoff series prior to his arrival.. I'm with you, I don't know what he was thinking going to NY, pretending he was born there(Phony), only for money and fame and not wanting to accomplish what hasn't been done since the early 70's...Because TRULY having a love for his birth city is out of the question when it comes to a relatively "LOUD" and "boisterous" guy like MELO.. I mean only LeBron has that kind of pride for a home city... He is so overrated that he finished 2nd in MVP voting playing some of his worst basketball with a "YOUNG" J. Kidd, K Mart, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby(Wait, that's starting to sound like the '99 Knicks finals squad)..Oh snap, let me stop, I'm getting sidetracked..Sort of like you did by glossing over my mentioning of his "WEAK Western Conference tenure and the success he had "EVEN" with little help while in the "Wack Western Conference" as if it doesn't deserve empathy.. Oops! I did it again... insert Britney Spears to sing her chorus for me plz and just forgive me for getting sidetracked again.. It's funny to me when KG, on area 21 said Melo never had the right squad around him in his career he was lying and got paid just to utter those words! Players like Marbury and Stephen Jackson are bitter only, that's why they're defending Melo.. It has zero truth to it! Stephen Jackson never been part of a championship caliber team! He never even won a ring anyway! And Marbury was a scrub like Melo! Marbury is hating too when he said today that all Melo needed in his career was the right team put around him and let him be himself he would win it all.... but who is he but a bum in China right??? And who is this "never-has-been" name Dwyane Wade who had the audacity to say he is being scapegoated?? I mean the nerve of that bum right?! Chauncey Billups is a scrub who never won anything and he said Melo would be talked about instead of Lebron if Detroit did his job and drafted him instead of Dark... but we all know he lied through his teeth! Dont count cuz he was a former teammate any way... Same as Dontae Jones stepping up as a former team mate..BIAS only!! He never won anything to speak on it! Porzingis not going to the teams exit meeting after Melo being treated horribly by the Knicks and Phil is all made up... Melo being voted teammate of the year in 2017 is fables The media is always right!!! they never made up narrative in history ever before!!! I'm tired of this scrub Melo never getting criticized by former players or current players.. and it is all because they're all scared of him!! He been the Mike Tyson of the league on the low since 03...But bump that they need to step up to this scrub and tell him that the critics who never played professionally were right, and the professionals are all wrong about him being underappreciated and having no help

Alot of People fail to realize this , melo isn't a catch and shoot type of guy , that's not his game, last season he shot only 694 2 point feild goals , in 2015 he shot 627 , but here's the thing he missed 42 games that season . So there's the problem, he's playing a role that isn't him , well trying to play a role, his Efg is up to par with his prime years , mid-range % is great . And he's the 5th best scorer in Houston. People like to bring up defense but we all know In this leauge that's becoming a waste of time due to teams ability to score now . If teams let melo be melo ha wouldn't be going through this . He avg 17 ppg on 47% shooting the 6 games before the okc one .

@bojo perez I believe that. That's why I don't understand why they are cutting him . This is starting to look like the Iverson situation. Media damaging his name , fans that hate researching going along with it , teams not picking him up , he's being forced out the NBA

i think why he was cut off is because of the relation between him and mike dantoni and jeff bzdelik. they were all ex coaches and had some trouble with him. why eric gordon isnt cut off? this season he is very awful. thats why i think there has to be something more than melo's bad performance

He might still earn a spot if he works on other skills not just turning ur body around, fake left/right, dribble once then shoot. Probably work on his defense a little and getting a little bit of athleticism to keep up with the offense. He can still do these at his current age. Sad that he gets all the blame and hate for only playing terribly for 2 seasons and people forgetting his prime/earlier seasons just like that

dude just chill with the efficiency shit, Look at allen iverson, his efficiency is GARBAGE, shooting sub 40% FG. low 30% to high 20% 3 points on MASSIVE SHOT ATTEMPTS. yet, people still consider allen Iverson one of the greatest of all time. Truth is, Melo is much more efficient than A.I.

@Random Guy2000 Don't put harden in there man, Harden had a true shooting percentage of 61.9% in 2017-2018 season and Lebron and Kd both had about 1-2% more. Harden is very efficient already. do you think Kyrie irving was efficient? kyrie had 61% which is below harden and Klay Thompson had 59% true shooting while being called top 5 best shooter of all time. By the way Giannis Antetokoumpo had 59.8 and he is super efficient. And yes WestBrook is horrible sitting at 52.4%

Literally zero defence, even with a coach that wants to play him 15 mins and using him only in post ups and pick and pops he is such a defensive liability he will still hurt the team. He’s done. He has to retire. Being such a liability on defence is also why I am concerned that LeBron will not play till 39/40 like people think he will. I think after this 4 year lakers contract LeBron will retire because his defence will be so embarrassing it will stain his legacy...he’s kind of close to being that bad defensively already...

Doubt it, like @Prolific said LBJ saves his defense for the playoffs and key moments, plus Bron's game is multidimensional to compare it with Melo's. Bron's bball IQ is too high to not make further adjustments to his game as his career comes to a close, something Melo has refused to do and what's gotten him into the mess he's in right now

@@eloheemdagod5432 Exactly. Carmelo Anthony had 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds to go with 2.1 threes, not bad for a newly converted reserve who was a starter virtually his entire NBA career since 2003, starting only 2 out of 10 games for Houston and clocking at 29 minutes per game. That might not be up to the standards of Prime Melo, but still better than what Ryan Anderson provided in his last season with Houston and what he's providing for Phoenix now.

Filipo Sooa his numbers are good ,it’s just the nba is now played by analysts ,iso ball is dead to a point where they don’t run plays for it, the league turned into Golden State Warriors offensive, a team like the spurs will fit Melo good they still play all around basketball, it’s up to melo now to put himself where his skill will needed instead of trying to change his game💯💯

We Never Know The Spins That The World Takes. Lol. We Must Dream And Perhaps Believe. Melo And KP Again Could Really Happen One More Time. IF There Is A Will There Is A Way. Believing Is All It Takes. Perhaps Even Without Melo The NY Knicks Can Surprise The World And Like 1999 Reach The NBA Finals. Basically The Same Circumstances Are Happening More Or Less.
