Is Necromancer A DEAD Class? Absolutely Not!

This video speaks to me. I have one of every class. But all of my most memorable feats have been done on necromancer. No joke. The largest 1vX I've ever done was done on necro, I've been challenged to a dual with a current and former emp and killed them each in less than 10 seconds in front of their guild on necro. My highest bg streak of 57-0 was achieved with necromancer. I've trifecta'ed fang lair, scalecaller peak and also mazzatun in one day by tanking one, and healing in the others, one run was saved by necro's mass resurrection ult. Also props to my amazing team, but end game Necromancer is truly special to me. I do wish it fulfilled it's class fantasy. But as a class Zos designed something truly unique from other classes. Nightblade being my second go to. But man necro just feels like home. Something about eating DoTs, taking big hits, and saving a hardmode or a group fight in cryro with the rez ult just hits different.

I just built up a necro with mostly necro abilities, I have so much fun with it. But then I’ll hop on my Templar or arcanist and just feel effortlessly godly (in pve). I am enjoying the necro for the skill requirements, but it does feel like you are punished for using class skills over other skills with buffs, especially scribing skills. I think the corpse consumption and wonky blighted blast bones tracking should warrant some sort of buff, whether it be damage or not. Other classes don’t have such conditional situations to make good output, especially in actually content. If the blighted blast bones was coded more like haunting curse just with a 2.5 delay and ignored travel time it would feel more reliable. Don’t get me started on gravelord sacrifice, I wanted to use this so bad, but it should just be an instant buff. You shouldn’t be able to kite your own buff. It also doesn’t feel like it adds more damage than blighted. That being said I have an off healer that runs all the fast ticking aoe dots with azureblight and SPC,front bar damage, back bar heals,running arena weaps on both bars and it’s a fun pug healer that can out damage most newb pug dds.

My one bar pvp necro only uses blighted blast bones for necro skills so most of the passives are trashed also. More of the passives should be universal and not necro skill based if they refuse to make the necro skills not suck. It still slaps though.

In D&D 3.5 my favorite necro build was: Paladin 1-11 (wait for it...), into Blackguard 2-12 or 15 (there it is :) ), and finish with Dread Necromancer (13 - 20) you'll want in feats: Cleave (at a min.) Feint (to make someone flat-footed and get a sneak attack) Weapon Casting (cause you're melee, or at least melee-adjacent) and several feats from Libras Mortis such as: Tomb Tainted Soul (i think was the name; unintelligent undead ignore you [make as many as you want, only command the good ones!], you absorb neg energy) Explosive Constructs (kill your own skeletons for a free Cleave into enemy; 1HD skele's are cheap and a +1d6 per HD for you and a -1d6 per HD for everyone around you adds up round after round. this feat may have had a few pre-reqs but it's been years) Icy Touch: each attack from undead adds 1d6 of Ice damage Next, LAYER your undead. Swarms can both crawl and fly, and swarms can exist within the spaces of beings. taht aside, swarms deal damage just by being there: that annoying 1d6 bug bite is now a 1d6 piercing + 1d6 Ice damage, or 2d6 piercing plus 2d6 Ice if you are keeping someone inside both a ground and air swarm; your OTHER creatures and the sacrificial HD skeletons (explosive constructs) aside. For direct command I suggest a undead 12-headed hydra (1d6 Ice DMG per head) or even a few! hell, you're a tomb tainted soul! they don't want to eat you, and their destruction would be a hell of a neg-energy burst; the dmg.... the HP gain for you!

Is Necromancer a dead class? Nai Is Necromancer a low tier class? Yea Is Necromancer a fun class? A lot! Is Necromancer a NECROMANCER? NEVER EVER IN THE WHOLE LIFE. That is the necro problem. When you play necro you wanna feel the power of death and that power means RISE A DEAD ARMY and use that power to kill enemies. Maybe i am wrong but everybody said the same when play Necro the first time in TESO: What the hell is this shit? Where are my skeletons, where are my zombies, where are my ghosts? Not one, not two, maybe three, five will be awesome. Bethesda called this class Necro but it feels more like a PLAGUE MASTER. And a plague master IS NOT A NECROMANCER. All about necro in TESO is around poison and disease, it is more related to Peryite. But Peryite is not a Daedric Prince of Dead is a pestilence prince. And Bethesda kill the class from the begining when released the infamous Dark Convergence Set. The 5th effect is just one of necro skills, the best one. Pull all enemies to a focal point to kill them with the big disease ultimate. I play necro, i got a lot of fun with it, but i know is not a real necro.

what are you talking about? what on earth are you smoking to sit there and say ESO necromancer doesn't feel like a necromancer? where are your undead minions? -spirit mender -skeletal mage -sacrificial bones THERE THEY ARE not to mention, plagues and curses are a big part of being a necromancer like...have you even PLAYED this class? looked at AT ALL? or did you just copy/past someone else's opinion on this matter? this is the most necromancer feeling necromancer in any MMO ever only places you'll find better are minion builds in ARPGs, which, tbh, would be WAY too OP in an MMO setting. an army of the undead would be completely broken in an MMO.

Since they are working on the dps line for necro rn I hope when they get to the changing summoning skeletal mage or archer if you say use in on a corpse or while you have grave lords sacrifice or while inside boneyard you summon 2 of the summoned minions and that they make their attacks use dot damage

Necromancer is the biggest reason I started playing ESO. It definitely takes a lot to master but I actually enjoy the high APM rotation. Ninja Pulls' build is actually amazing for update 41.

I will never forget the posts in the forums begging for the Necro. There’s even a post where somewhere begins a post with an in-character poem. Once here I regarded them as thematically an elemental shaman with some spooky abilities. Not really an “army of dead” Necro. I thematically think they are not necro enough. They are fun as supports. Good luck to ZoS making a companion that does not outdo the player class but delivers on the fantasy.

Permanent minions: This is the point where I push back a bit. I really like that my minions are criminal acts and temporary summons. Necromancy is illegal so it makes sense that my conjurations are callous, temporary. I'm hiding who I am and my skills. Necromancy is supposed to be shameful and the Worm Cult of necromancers is trying to destroy Nirn so most NPCs reference point for necromancy is already pejorative. From an RP standpoint this is brilliant. I also don't think it's a problem to re-cast my Skeletal buddy every 20 seconds or so Honestly, the Daedric minions should be criminal too because of the status of Daedra in the lore. If I'm an NPC in Daggerfall, I'm calling the guard when I see you walking down High Road with your scamp As for the changes to Necro: It's not a dead class but there was a forced playstyle change for most of us. I don't have a problem with that. And while I don't like Sacrificial Blastbones, I do like that my Flame Skull has the potential to create a corpse (that should be baked into Flame Skull, not Sacrificial BB) My problem is that the skill shift didn't address the problem it was ostensibly designed to solve. My rotation hasn't simplified and I've lost a damage skill (yes, I realize that it's a buff skill) I still play Necro and still love the class. I play Necro and NB for fun and the aesthetic. If I'm min/maxing, my mag Templar DPS is my go-to. Not every character needs to hit the damage ceiling, just have fun

I tried the Necro several times, but I rarely enjoyed it. Some of the basic ideas are really good, but I had to work too hard to get decent damage. I'm not saying I played it right, but the mechanics aren't very intuitive either. The class I enjoy the least at the moment.

Yeah Necro is viable for all PVE content. DPS, Tank, Healer does not matter. But PVP is a huge problem

The complaints are mainly from DPS and pvp players. Necro is still a good tank, don't know about healer.

That helps but I believe they are the only tank class that has a passive that reduces damage over time. We no longer have a cp that does that. That passive is helpful in vet content especially in Rockgrove trial where the DoTs on one boss is really punishing. I forget which.

I quit the game because of that, because of the necromancer, because it's the only class I want to play, I love being a "necromancer" thematically, I like pvp and I never enjoy it because it's indisputably inferior to any other class, and in pve I need meta builds that I didn't feel identified with to get decent damage.

I don't have a PvE DPS Necro NA main account, I have a Healer. My other 2 main account NA Necro's are PvP... Now my BG necro is kinda Meh now, still good in some of the games.. she's hard to kill, but doesn't have the DPS she used to. My IC Necro is just find though, sure I had to change a couple skills, but his main job was to stay alive and that he does well. I use him to get quests done and to run with guildmates. I've 1v1 with many a player and while yep, we die.. we also make them run away after awhile.. sometimes I get a kill. EU I have a StamCro who is more of an RP character than anything.. she is a Trader who doesn't always get her stuff the legal way. Is she fun? Well yes, she is. Did I gripe about them changing the skills for her, yes I did. As long as she can still solo the same WB's and pick the right pockets, it's all good. No Blast bones? OK.. Scribing has that nice Pet-Knock-You-down skill.. Not the same I know.. BUT.. is what it is and I will make the best of it.

Use defiler and maw monster set with necromancer. Proc those 2 with other summons...instant heal

penalties for using necromancer abilities such as summoning a skeleton look ridiculous compared to how people use polymorphs of skeletons and demons. The molag bala polymorph will be released soon and there will be no fines for it, funny

You’re tiptoeing around the fact that the necro was never really a fun class to play. It was always one of the most involved rotations to do which made it incredibly unappealing to play for new players and vets. I know so many people that try the class and within a month either give up or “buckle up to learn it” and then fast forward another month that toons now a support role that doesn’t get played or a mule. They can’t expect a class that’s overly complicated and hits like a pool noodle to be popular in anything. I can’t remember the last time I saw a necro dps

Yea I feel like originally they were trying to make another class with a high skill ceiling like the old magblade rotations where it was difficult but very rewarding. Ended up being a clunky/difficult rotation but not as rewarding. Adding perma companions and giving it the feel we see in other instances would be great
