This is not compulsory for Lectureship in pharmacy colleges, but can give you extra benefits/weightage if you qualify.

Yes, you can go for the life science stream, but you can apply to only those govt institutes which require NET qualification. In Pvt Pharmacy college there is no need for NET. But Qualifying NET will help you get admission to a good PhD college.
