IS NIGERIA DANGEROUS FOR WOMEN? (let's find out!)

In this video Chloe Jade Travels to Nigeria as a female American traveler without a guide.
This video was recorded over a week of travel to Nigeria in March 2024
I have heard time and time again that Nigeria is a place for scammers, Nigeria is dangerous, and that Lagos is the most dangerous city in Africa.
What is there to do in Nigeria? Why would I want to visit Nigeria? Well...for one I am attempting to visit every country. This is my 116th country visited. As a female traveler I hope to inspire other women to take more steps to visit places that have maybe been mentioned as "dangerous" (because it is not always true!)
Although my trip was shorter than I hoped, I was able to visit Kano, Abuja, Lagos, and Jigawa. I woud love to come back.
In the end, the only thing that scared me in Nigeria...was the mosquitos

I really appreciate how you showed Nigerian culture respect. Thank you! I'm a Nigerian from the southeast of the country, the Igbo tribe. I think you did something a lot of us don't do(leave our half of the country) A lot of Southerners don't go north, have never been too, and vice versa. I do recommend you try visiting all of Nigeria's Six geopolitical zones. There are 36 states in Nigeria and one Federal capital Territory (Abuja, I also recommend next time that you go to a boujee part of Abuja), and these geopolitical zones have 5 to 7 states in each of them. Northeast: Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Taraba & Bauchi Northcentral: Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, FCT(Abuja), Nasarawa & Plateau Northwest: Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara Southern: Southwest: Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Emiti, Ondo Southeast: Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia South-South: Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River. You've obviously visited three zones already. So, It remains the northeast, south east and south south. Thanks for visiting my country.

As someone native to two different places with obscene mosquitoes, Lemongrass/citronella oil is your best friend. I buy a bottle and then open up all my lotions, sprays, hair and body oils and dump the lemongrass oil in. That way it’s absorbed into my skin before I go outside.

Lovely video! You obviously spent a whole of your time in Abuja and the North! Hence you saw the sane parts of Nigeria. You also appeared to have spent time in the sane parts of Lagos. I'm happy about the sites you visited etc in the North and I found them very educative and interesting 😊 Just one more thing, your subtitles are just crazy 😂 it doesn't reflect what they were saying a whole lot of the time 😂 for example, when the guy was taking about the Royal House, it read arroya house 😂 Also when he was talking about how a man left a legacy by building a house because he didn't have any children.... the interpretation of what he was saying was completely different from what was being written 😂 also the Hausas use a lot of she when referring to a he and this was not interpreted correctly.... 😂 it made me have a laugh.... but I sincerely hope people got the real gist of what was being said as there was a lot of beauty in it 😊❤ Thank you so much for this video. If you want hustle and bustle come to Lagos. For a more relax atmosphere and good infrastructure, come to Abuja. For Carnivals, come to Calabar festivals at December.

What a fascinating insight into this diverse country! Glad to hear the lumps weren’t bot flies - but it got me thinking about how you prep for any health emergencies whilst you’re travelling in countries with patchy access to adequate healthcare. That would be a fascinating video as it’s a major but rarely discussed barrier to most travelling beyond major tourist destinations

Well, about the patchy healthcare in Nigeria, what I can tell you is if she fell ill in Nigeria, she could straight up go into any hospital, especially private hosp,get a card and be able to see a doctor right away, without having to book appointments that keep you waiting for weeks.

Kano have really beautiful and colorful architecture, I was born there (our house used to be around Kofar Mata), moved in 2000 to Osun. I still kind of miss the place. On the last question, while the writer may have written from their own perspective and probably experience, I still think that Nigeria and Nigerians are still making progress in spite of our multifaceted challenges. There are truly security issues across different parts of the country but there is also good life in different parts of the country. We are living meaningful lives in spite of our challenges. Challenges are common to all but our attitude and response to them determine our eventual outcomes.
