In the first hand of the stand-up game on The Hustler Casino Live stream, we follow along from Peter’s perspective playing against the loose maniac that is Nik Airball. Peter found himself facing a bet of over $70,000 on the river after improving to two pair on a very connected board! Knowing Airball isn’t one to shy away from blasting off, do you think he had the goods or not?
You should look to pot control with your medium-strength hands when you have been checked to by your opponent. By betting, you not only inflate the size of the pot but you also re-open the action for your opponent to potentially push you out with a draw or a bluff.
Nik Airball is an investment banker and an amateur poker player, he occasionally plays at The Lodge Card Club but mainly plays on the Hustler Casino Live poker stream. He will play any stakes, and is often involved in heated table talk with the other poker players. Nik Airball is almost fluent in Mandarin, engaging in table talk with many Mandarin-speaking poker players. He often voices his strong opinions about current trends, topics and scandals in the poker world on social media and poker podcasts.
Peter is introduced as a professional pumpkin eater. He sometimes plays on the Hustler Casino Live streams and usually plays any stakes.
Hustler Casino Live is a full-scale, high-value poker production. Close to a million dollars was spent transforming the casino’s high-limit poker room, the Crystal Room, into the set of this new state-of-the-art live show. Hustler Casino Live looks more like coverage of a TV broadcast sporting event and appeals to those beyond the poker community. Unscripted and unedited, they host regular poker streams such as ‘Max Pain Monday’ and ‘Thirsty Thursday’. Some of the most notable poker players to have appeared on the show are Phil Ivey ‘The Tiger Woods of Poker’ ‘RaiseOnce’, Tom Dwan ’durrrr’, Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat’, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk ‘WCGRider, Garrett Adelstein ‘Gman’, Tony Guoga ‘Tony G’ and many more.
🔍 Preflop:
In the very first hand of the stand-up game with blinds at $200/$400, Peter raises from the button to $2,000 with T7 of diamonds. Nik Airball 3-bets out of the small blind to $12,000 with a mystery hand! After the big blind folds, Peter calls to see the flop.
💸 Flop - Jc Ts 9d:
Nik Airball down-bets to $8,000 on the jack-high connected flop and gets a call from Peter with middle pair, a gutshot, and a backdoor flush draw.
💣 Turn - 2d:
The 2 of diamonds on the turn sees Nik slow down and check to Peter, who has now picked up a ten-high backdoor flush draw. He bets $17,000 with second pair and both his flush draw and straight draw. Nik Airball then check-raises to $52,000. Peter sticks around with a call as they head to the river.
🌊 River - 7s:
The backdoor flush draw bricks on the 7 of spades river, but it now does mean that any eight now makes a straight. Nik moves all-in for $76,400, and now the decision is back on Peter to call or fold. Peter may have bricked his draws, but he did river two pair and now beats any overpair that Nik could potentially hold. But what does Nik have? Value or air? Stick around to the end of this poker video to find out!

What do YOU guys think of our new mystery hand format? 🧐

I definitely like it, it make you think about each street of information as it comes out instead of already knowing the outcome. I definitely thought his 2 pair was good when Airball jammed.

Great. Also if you mute the commentators saying “now airball should jam” it would be even better. I had to mute the video when they were talking.

If Nik has an Airball, that's a really tiny jam to get Peter off 2 pair. I think it's value. He set up the pot size to make a river call almost automatic.

Prior to the 7s turn reveal, I put Airball on QQ or better pair. No 8 in his range.

The answer is yes. In all seriousness, I think Nik set this up to be value heavy on the end.

You absolutely do not want to bet behind a check from Airball when you have 2nd top pair. Because Airball doesn't care, he'll jam with nothing. Wait to see the river, you want to have as close to nuts against Airball, that's when he pays off.

thought airball had it there especially for half pot, but he is easily capable of having dust there. This is another reason to check back turn, loses a lot less that way.

I actually got one right! Candidates I came up with were Q8, KQ, A8 and I committed to the right one.

QQ. In retrospect, flopped straight is tough, but the turn play was awful on Hero's part

Nik normally likes to apply max pressure with his bluffs with overbets. I don't think he would take this line and only leave half pot bluff at the end. Looks very value heavy. Very hard to get away from vs airball, but that's what you get for bloating the pot

Why do you play 10-7 in the first place
@privacyfirst3849
@privacyfirst3849 Ай бұрын
Exactly! Maybe I'm a nit, but starting hands: no need to get involved with a weak starting hand like 10-7 suited. I felt like that hand was going to lose from the beginning.

This kind of reminds me of Selbst. She would win hands like this and amass a giant pile of chips. Then she would go all in with marginal to zero equity hands and see the pile go to zero. It's like The Lord Giveth, The Lord taketh away.

vs Chinese Boss nik airball still know how to get value. vs those pro reg then he will be over bluffing . not all pro reg is so financial rich, while those boss, most are rich enough to call down to fulfill own curiosity
