Is Novablast 5 a BETTER Alternative to Superblast 2?

Usually don’t buy into the hype, but I got a pair of SB2. Never spent that much on a pair of shoes. First run I did was 4 miles and I was shocked how smooth and bouncy they were. What a shoe! It’s worth saving for instead of settling. I was able to get a pair black color pair at Runners Warehouse here in US.

I have Novablast 4 (getting close to 250 miles) and I like the shoe quite a bit. Picked up a pair of black Superblast 2 recently and I absolutely love running in this shoe! My wife is getting me the pink SB2 for XMAS 🎅 Cheers!

I just got email from ASICS superblast 2 released again in Paris colors! Honestly I got the white color pretty quickly after the hype died down a little. Wasn’t as hard as I thought to get it from ASICS website. Just checked back a few times .

Fully agree with you as I use the same rotation. But only wth the NB3 and the SB1. Love the superblast for my long runs too. Hopefully the SB2 availability will get better once I retire the SB1. Luckily its a very durable shoe that can take many many kilometers.

NB5. Most people don't need SB2. I owned the SB1 and I regretted the purchase. The shoes are good but its use is very limited to only marathon pace long run. Yes it can do easy run, recovery run, LSD but it is too $$$ for those runs.

Great review, Fordy. Just wondering if we're concerned about durability of the Novablasts? I'm hoping version 5 foam is better than the past few. It's my personal experience only, but I've never had a pair of Novablasts go beyond 150km without suddenly feeling flat and worn out (similar stories from my mates). My Superblasts (v1), on the other hand, ticked over 560km this morning, and while they certainly feel softer than they used to, are still lovely for running. Kinda makes the extra cost worth it, when you consider the per-kilometre cost.

I'm skipping the Novablast 5, as I've heard from multiple people that there is too much room in the front foot and cause for twists in your ankle/foot by it. I'll stick with the SB2 and see if I can stock up with an extra pair of Novablast 4 when they go on sale.

Superblast 2, for me, do not like easy pace. Very slappy. However, picking up the pace at race pace and tempo they are good. Also, take a while to “wake up” the foam, about 3km. (Have run about 50km in them so far.) cheers. 😊

@@zenbikerider9414 I’m 900km into my SB1 and I don’t know what to do with them. They look new on outside, but less responsive than before. Not sure if they’re even useful for slower runs. Probably just wear them ass casual shoes

I love Asic shoes and I have the Superblast 2 and i am 250 miles into them. I know you love the NB Sc trainer v3 but what about the NB Balos in your opinion if I cant grab another pair of the superblast 2 in about 1 months time?

Genuine question, why havent asics adressed the lack of production in SB2 ? If they learnt anything from V1 it shluld have been to make more, there must be a genuine reason as it seems to be done on purpose

Yeah I had the OG Novablast it was a good shoe but I had a few issues once the runs got longer and the grip was horrendous. Hard to get hold the the metaspeeds in Australia as well in my size anyway

There's this new orange SB2 colorway easily available for me now but I don't like it. If I am to spend 220 euros on a shoe I want to also feel good about the looks. A couple more hours until the Novablast 5 drops, can't wait for that!

@HealthSX Took me a while to decide between the purple or yellow but I ended up getting the purple. Should arrive within a couple of hours yay. Gonna look super weird with my yellow socks though 😅

Thanks. Like the NB4s - I have 2 pairs. I also have the SB2 that I use for long runs. No problem getting US size 9 here in Germany. You peeps would have to pay duty ordering from here, so probably not worth it. I will eventually buy the NB4s when my 4s are done, but not that gross 🤢 colourway. Disgusting!

I've never tried the Superblast 2 but I've tried many ASICS shoes and EVERY single one of them was either subpar or absolutely horrendous. Avoid them at all costs. Go for a Saucony, New Balance Fuel Cell, or Brooks.

Mate when you walk from house to car or you walk to cross the road HOW is this shoe for walking???????? is comfortable or not Doesn’t hurt to speak 1 minute about how the shoe handles casual walk Is not like you are constantly running or every one else out there is running like mad 24/7 People buy shoes for walk and time to time to run Is a Reason why you have 10k views instead of half million or millions views… more casual than runners

But when walking across a road its performance dive bombs, regularly resulting in dozens of blisters by the time you’ve made it across both lanes…’
