We all know Pankaj sir and his amazing experiment video where he explains the concepts of Physics with his experiments.
His experiments are really interesting, concept-oriented and full of learning.
Recently he uploaded a video on how a disk is balanced vertically. He stated that the reason for the same is the conservation of angular momentum.
We found the concept to be very nice, is relevant to JEE Advanced and a question can also be formed.
Hence NMS sir came up with an explanatory video on the whole concept with more details and complete concept guidance.
Check out the complete video where NMS sir explains the concept of why a rotating wheel doesn't fall and the application of forces, torque and angular momentum in that case.
This illustration is also useful for the JEE Mains and JEE advanced point of view because questions can easily be many from this concept in multiple formats like numerals, paragraph type, assertion & reason.

आप का Video देखा।बहुत अच्छा लगा।आप का प्रयास सराहनीय है। मै स्वयं चाहता हूं कि बच्चों तक अधूरी/गलत जानकारी न पहुंचे। यदि कहीं भी किसी से भी कोई चूक हो रही हो तो सुधार होना ही चाहिए। क्योंकि shorts की Limit मात्र 59 सेकण्ड होती है।ऐसे में Practical करना, फिर Board पर Diagram बनाते हुए समझाना बहुत मुश्किल काम होता है। ऐसे में बहुत कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातें छूट भी जाती हैं। परंतु मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगा जो आप ने इसे Detail में Explaine कर बच्चों तक सही/सटीक जानकारी पहुंचाई। आपको धन्यवाद व शुभाकामनाएं ❣️

मेरे अनुसार, मात्र कुछ seconds के shorts में pankaj sir ने जो कहा वह सही ही है। यह तथ्य तो वह भी जानते हैं कि experiment में Angular Momentum की दिशा क्योंकि निरंतर change हो रही है तो Angular Momentum एक vector के रूप में conserved नहीं रहता। वों दरअसल एक संकेत कर रहे हैं कि rotating body एक दम से नीचे नहीं गिरती क्योंकि कुछ समय तक उसके Angular Momentum का magnitude लगभग वही रहता है (और झुकाव भी लगभग वही रहता है)। अर्थात यह magnitude उतना रहता ही है कि इसे झुकाने/गिराने के लिए जो External Torques चाहिएं वों शुरू में लगभग ineffective ही रहते हैं। तो, इसमें यही दर्शाने की कोशिश की गई कि body यदि rotate कर रही हो तो एक दम से नहीं गिरती, क्योंकि उसे गिराने के लिए जो भी forces हैं (mg, N, friction, air drag, etc.) उन्हें initial angular momentum को परिवर्तित करने में कुछ समय लगता है। अब आगे प्रश्न यह है कि यह rotating body दिशा क्यों बदलती है और क्यों धीरे-धीरे झुकना शुरू होती है और फिर गिर ही जाती है। इसके भी आगे इस body के लिए equations लिखना व उन्हें solve करने की बात आती है। इसके लिए first fact तो यह है कि इसकी dynamics 3-dimensional motion में आती है, जो JEE Advanced के syllabus के बाहर है। इस syllabus में आप mostly या तो inertial frame से fixed axis के about motion देख रहे होते हैं, या फिर rotating body के साथ ऐसे fixed reference frame से जो “inertial frame” के parallel है। इस experiment में motion को discuss करना इतना straightway नहीं है जैसा हम अन्य simple cases के साथ एक analogy बनाकर देखते हैं। Qualitative answer यही है कि initial angular momentum इतनी मात्रा का है कि external forces/torques उसे नीचे गिराने में कुछ समय लेते हैं। Quantitative answer के लिए हमें Euler’s Equation में जाना ही होगा, जिसमें Inertia Matrix भी लेनी होगी, और यह solution non-integrable भी आ सकता है। NMS sir ने भी जो कुछ थोड़ा सा बताया, उससे यह बात रह जाती है कि यह झुकना क्यों शुरू होता है। NMS sir को कुछ चीजें review करनी चाहिएं क्योंकि यह 3d rotation का case है, और जो simplistic example लिया गया उससे इसे explain करना थोड़ा misleading है। इस प्रकार के 3d rotation (precession, nutation, etc.) में Friction नहीं हो तब भी rotating body का lowest point shift हो सकता है। हम अपनी choice से किसी भी axis/point के about external torque लेकर result को interpret नहीं कर सकते। यहाँ इस नियम का कोई लाभ नहीं कि perpendicular torque दिशा change करेगा (यह single particle, planer motion, fixed frame का case नहीं जहाँ direction बताने के लिए एक ही variable चाहिए होता है)। यहाँ तो इन्हीं forces के torques से दोनों दिशाएं (longitudinal, latitudinal) change होती हैं, और magnitude भी। Conical pendulum व A×L का उदाहरण fixed inertial/parallel frames का है जो यहाँ fit नहीं होता है।

Sir my question is that why the angular momentum in this case changes its direction and Chases the torque acting on the spinning body due to mg which actually causes this precession or gyroscopic motion..is there any explanation on this

Sir my one question is that if a particle is moving with non uniform velocity then why do we determine the average velocity of that particle? The average velocity is not the original velocity of the particle but the particle is carrying different velocities at different times of the journey, so why do we determine the average velocity and what is the need for it. In answer to this question I got this answer from one place that average velocity helps us to get an overall idea of the particle's motion but I don't understand what is meant by the term overall idea. Can you please answer my question in hindi because I am from West Bengal and I am a Bengali medium student. Currently I am studying in class 11. ❤

Sir in one of your past videos you show how a thing named as work energy theorem came into someones mind and showed that how they are just some manipulations of newtons laws of motions. You also say that newtons laws of motion is base of whole mechanics. So sir it is my humble request to derive : torque, moment of inertia and angular momentum just like you derived work and kinetic energy.

Aapka kya problem hai.. Zaruri nai hai humesha aapko prashansha hi mile... Kabhi kabhi apse mistake b hoti hai... Aur koi agar sahi chiz bata raha hai to use positively lijiye.. Nicha dikhana bolke sahi knowledge ko appreciate nai karna galat hai
