I dont think u can compare paypal and apple, at least here in Germany. When u buy stuff with paypal here, paypal refunds when there is a problem. Apple doesnt do that

Cannot use PayPal for offline payments is horrible! Apple Pay works everywhere! Don’t understand why PYPL management doesn’t make PYPL work for offline payments. It should be a painless process.

6.5% FCF yield is higher than bond BUT bond is risk-free.

The high yield is because the market is expecting it to have lower margins and needs to spend a lot of money on CAPEX as it faces stiff competition in its market. Lower margin and higher CAPEX investments lead to much lower fcf in the future.

@@phantomcreamer sbc is a real cash expense and never one off. Thus, it shouldn't be left out in any sustainable FCF calculation. Management is there to make themselves richer not to make shareholders better off!

FCF decreased by 18% on last 10K. I don't think PYPL is going anywhere. I don't buy/sell options and I would love PYPL at $51. $59 is certainly fair value.

PYPL a business facing stiff competition marked by sharp deceleration revenues growth and a turnaround plan that will take years to know if it will ever work. Meanwhile its management is doing big share buybacks to boost its EPS growth rate so it can reward themselves with big shares based compensation. Its valuation looks cheap for a good reason because the market is taking a view its a business with declining operating margins with much lower growth while needing to spend a lot more money on CAPEX as it try to compete in a saturated market. It's a value trap. Anymore bad news from PYPL can quickly see its PE de-rated below 10x and when that happens its share price can be halved. Cheap share prices can and do get even cheaper. Exactly that, every financial analytic has access to the same data, if you see something different there than the market, look again, you might be wrong. Turnarounds fail most of the time and not by a small margin.

Why start a dividend when they can use that cash to buy back shares at record lows. A dividend could make sense if/when the stock trades far off its lows

Makes no sense, dividends should be paid only when no other options are available. Buyback is much better and tax efficient. They should also sell some puts.

Do we think that microsoft, apple, or meta are making a mistake paying a dividend? Truly, i am curious. I think a dividend can change the sentiment of the stock which is what the stock suffers from....

​@@sagig72 I agree. I also think a dividend could very well change the sentiment as it was the case with Alphabet in March, when the stock dipped because of AI concerns. I would still prefer buybacks over dividends but if the dividends were very small like below 0,5% it could be very interesting.
