You're 100% right. Pep has HIS way of playing, and if a player is not up to par, he'll get rid of him. I tell United fans the same thing when they claim they have similar talent to City. United would be better with Pep, but not with the current squad. There's no way he'd play Smalling, Jones, Lindelof, and Young. He'd certainly not have Fellaini in his team. To be honest, I think if he'd take Ederson over De Gea.

@@znhait 100% Bro ... Overall player for player if we talking world class players Manchester City's squad is purely better in terms of talent and world class right but yet again Manchester City will always be known as the club that spent millions season after season just to buy the league right? The things is even with Pep Gaurdiola at the helm will Manchester City ever be considered as a European Elite club? such as Juve, Real, Barca, Manchester United, Bayern etc etc? You just cant buy the history of those clubs that where forged by blending in home grown talent with super star players. Every single European elite club has a history of bringing through home grown players and just not spending half a billion pounds on a entire new team of superstars and thats where i have no respect for manchester city.. Besides Foden and Diaz what do they have to show for being a born and bread Manc City lad? No ways Jones, Smalling, Young, Lindelof would get into any Pep team and thats where i give Jose the credit because he is working with what he got. Jose didnt just walk into Manchester United and start a max exodus clear out of players. Yes people can say Jose has spent a lot of money which he did but that was to better the Spine of our team Bailly/Lindelof(CB) Pogba/Matic(CDM/CM) Lukaku/Sanchez(ST)(LW). Pep on the other hand worked with the likes of Clichy, Sagna, Kolorov, Joe Hart, Fernando, Iheanacho, Jovetic, Bony, Aaaron Mooy, Nolito for one season and after that decided i cant improove these players and he sold them. So obviously if youre spending half a billion pounds on world class players on a whole new team youre buying that winning mentality and it makes it easier for him to coach that winning mentality rather then spending hours and hours days and days with a youngster from the academy get what im trying to say?

Of course he's an incredible manager. But he's well liked by the media so he can be very over hyped. He took over an incredible treble winning team from Jupp Heynckes and failed in Europe in 3 seasons. Getting outclassed in all 3 Semi-finals. He left them as a failure to most people. 3 seasons at City, hasn't got past the quarter finals in Europe yet, after spending so much money. He's tactically inept in Europe without Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi and Messi and co. For the record, Sir Alex is the greatest in the modern era. I'm a Liverpool fan. No shame in admitting that.
@stevewilson27346 жыл бұрын
What an idiotic thing to say. Pep is a fave with the media because he's nice to them and gives detailed responses in press conferences hence why he has built a good relationship with the media. Bayern had already won a treble with Heynckes and a lot of the senior players for Bayern did not want to adapt to Pep's tactics or philosophy because they felt after winning a treble nothing needed to change. So he never had all the players on board throughout his tenure at Bayern. However he should not just be judged on his CL runs for Bayern. He totally dominated German football and managed to go on the longest winning run in Europe. Man City have only been in the Champions League for the last 7/8 seasons and they are only getting better each season in Europe, so I don't know how you can call him tactically inept.

You act like reaching the semis of UCL is an easy task. 1st season's defeat was definitely his fault, but he lost the second season's semi cuz of the genius of Messi for 15 mins in that match. 3rd season, he lost semi because of the away goal rule. Now Bayern is not in the same form as under him when they were under Ancelotti and Kovac. SAF had lost his first season in charge too but was given time to build his team with youngsters, something which Pep doesn't have the luxury to have. Pep is probably the best coach ever and Sir Alex is probably the best manager ever. Football is different now. I think the change came around 2010-2015, basically the beginning of Pep's Barcelona/towards the end of the Sir Alex era. The coaching, players, club hierarchy, off-the-field commercial stuff, etc are all different. In terms of management, the manager's role now is that of a coach. It's almost entirely about playing style because clubs now have separate people and teams to take care of players off the field. In Sir Alex's era, the manager basically ran the club in its entirety and took care of everything. I'm not sure if Pep is capable of being a 'manager' (maybe he is) and we might never know because football has changed.
@barletbeqiri11256 жыл бұрын
In Pique's interview with Rio, he talks about both of them. Sir Alex, he says, had people allotted to different positions while he himself took care of a limited number of things, like a Godfather (probably due to his experience). Guardiola, on the other hand, had his hand imprinted into every single thing and would work on them personally. This is the opposite of what you said. So, am I missing something or did I misinterpret your point? Or maybe you just weren't aware of this detail? Anyway, I absolutely abhor the fact that people take no notice of some names while discussing this question. I can go on and on, but one name will suffice, and it is the name of the single most influential and grandiose icon of the sport for what he did as a footballer and coach, and for me, simply the greatest menager ever: Johan Cruyff
@greatnewtaste6 жыл бұрын
@@barletbeqiri1125 All of those people were "allotted" to positions by Ferguson. They all reported to him. Ferguson only answered to the board and later on the Glazers. At Barcelona, Pep probably had more control over things, but not as much as Ferguson at United. Do you really think Pep has complete control over every single thing at City or even at Bayern? Uli Hoenes runs things at Bayern. Txiki has either the same amount of power or more at City, definitely not less. Have you seen All or Nothing? Pep controls everything about football, that's it. Txiki is the guy who runs things. The situation Ferguson walked into at United in 86 and the number of different teams he built over the years puts him light years ahead of everyone. The team that won the last title with van Persie had no business being champions. Pretty much the exact same squad plus fellaini (lol) was garbage the next year. Pep quit Barca in less than 5 years after burnout. Ferguson's longevity and ability to reinvent himself is almost impossible to replicate. However my point about this being a new era, where managers don't last that long means Pep is never going to have to reinvent himself at one club. He might reinvent himself in the future, but not at City. Pep walked into a Bayern side that just won the treble. City were champions a year before he joined. Even the tiki taka philosophy is the modern version of total football implemented by Cruyff. Pep will go down as one of the greatest of all time, but not at the top.

I would also put Bob Paisley before Guardiola. 6 League titles. 3 European Cups. 3 League Cups. 1 UEFA Cup, in 9 years. Guardiola has been fortunate. He managed in Spain when the league was a 2 horse race. In Germany it was a 1 horse race. And now at Man City he has a transfer kitty that can blow any other team out of the water. Send Pep to train Leeds United. If he brings them to the premier league within a year, then he can be considered the best. Managing M city at the moment can be done by anybody. He has at least 5 scoring players at any given time. Therefore he has the best players and the best team, at the moment, but let’s see what he wins...

Just because pep beat Ferguson in champs league doesn’t make him a better coach. Your dumb if you believe thats how it’s measured. When peps won as many honours as Ferguson and rebuilt as many squads as Ferguson then he has a an argument. Until then stop taking drugs

How can you judge a person as the best coach when he has an unlimited budget and can purchase the best players in the world which means they have purchased any trophy they enter and win. If Pep was to start at the bottom league and bring a team up on a shoestring budget like most managers than we could measure how good he is. I was privy to watch Brian Clough and Peter Taylor at the very beginning of their time at Derby County, we had a ramshackle club and not a very good team , trained at Sinfin Lane in Derby on a muddy ground that didn't have hot water just two old sheds. From there they built a team that went to the quarter finals of the european cup, they won the old first division on an old watered down pitch called the baseball ground but did well enough to rebuild the ground and win trophies. He then went to Nottingham Forest with half of the Derby team and did even better and won the european cup twice with a fat left winger and a fat centre half called Kenny Burns, now if Pep had done anything like that instead of taking over Cryuff then l would say he was the best coach and manager.

No way is Pep the greatest ever. Sir Alex Ferguson is by far the greatest there's ever been. He dominated the Premier League for 25 years and won dozens of major trophies. SAF was also able to sustain a dominant side when the Glazers came in and the investment in the team dried up and did it with some players which were honestly nowhere near good enough for Manchester United. Maybe one day Pep could be in contention for that title but not yet. Plus Pep failed to win a champions league with the greatest Bayern side ever which will always be a blip on his record for me. And he's never won a CL without Messi.

@blaircraig1086 жыл бұрын
@Leon Müller Okay maybe Zidane is a bit far. But Klopp, are you kidding me, he's a good manager but he hasn't won anything and to be regarded in such a manner you need to be a serial winner. Completely agreed on Jose though, top 3 of all time IMO even if its not going well for him right now. You have to be truly great to win a CL with Porto and that Inter side was truly phenomenal. Also, Chelsea would be nothing without him. He made them what they are today and i honestly hate seing the disrespect those idiots treat him with.

Sam H this is what I don’t like about fans like u who are knee deep in nostalgia, respect should be paid to the ones that paved the way, but it isn’t about who did it first it’s about who did it right. The game has revolutionized and nowadays there’s way more pressure from the club, fans and the media to be successful, the days of managers being at clubs 5-10 years are over because of the amount of money that’s now involved along with it being more physically demanding, players of the present are super athletes running twice as much as they did 10-20 years ago. With the fast pace of the game it’s much more difficult to be a innovator than ever before and that’s what i give pep credit for, his team bagged 100 points in a season that had never been seen before in the epl which has more to do with the revolutionary tactics more than the quality of players, im an arsenal fan but I admit pep will surely go down as the greatest tactican of this generation
