It's not really random...it happens mostly when you see the dotted lines. The problem is, spamming steal doesn't have consequences. Whenever you press steal, you should be left frozen for half a second

I got a 92 steal with hof pickpocket. If I just so happen to graze my square button my player will proceed to hug and body slam the ball handler and I will automatically be given a foul. I also said I have a 92 steal with hof pick pocket and if I just so happen to graze the square button my player will proceed to bodyslam and foul the ball handler until it’s a foul before you say he called people like me out. People like me who press square with a high steal against players with low stamina fumbling the ball? Well excuse me maybe they should take the steal button out the game if all I have to do is make a minimum wingspan offensive threat who spams square and backs up into you to get a steal instead of actual defense. I know you’re just showing but it bugs me that the steals you got on the big are anything skill related when it comes to rebound steals. That’s really just the place where most people spam steals because the big literally gets stuck coming down with the board and can’t stop that steal since the camera flips and he most likely can’t even see you on the screen. Those steals alone show bigs need to be buffed in certain areas. Not everything needs to be buffed but you shouldn’t be able to just rip bigs coming off boards without consequence. IRL you try that steal and the big would just turn his body and knock you on your ass or throw his elbows out to warn anyone to stay back or get dropped. Good vid as always though.

Timing/position and skill stat plays a factor aswell if you have a build below 50 stealing yet equip hof pickpocket your still not gonna consistantly steal the ball. Being on side of the ball increases chance having a steal from my experience 75 + gives you consistant pick pocket steals anything lower than 70 you get fouls and less pokes.

If your a sf, pf, or center and your matchup is the in bound passer you can do the help d or run by steal with great success. I do it all the time even to the point to make people rage. When they first catch the ball there easy and they usually go to sprint after catch so u can line the ball hand up

Lol every year, I make a lock after 5 months of seeing how good they are at getting steals and every year it assures me that making a lock makes the game too easy😂😂. I averaged 2 steals per game in basically every game mode on a player with 6 badges and a 67 steal so maybe im just good at D, but on my lock, i feel like i dont even have to try. unpluckable negates even using pick pocket at a low level because most people have started using gold or hof unpluckable. I suggest using pick pocket if you have enough defensive badges like 15-20. If you’re an offensive minded build with less then 10 defensive badges leave pick pocket alone.

If you have hof badge upgrades! Would you recommend hof pick pocket with hof clamps intimidator tireless defender silver off all pest silver pick dodger bronze interceptor. I havent tested much defensive badges so unfortunately i can't give you a full setup 100%. I assume that you are decent in steals so HOF( PICK POCKET, CLAMPS, INTI) will be fine. Dont take this following advices 100% as i haven't tested them thoroughly, i would trim down my tireless defender and to bronze and put it instead to interceptor and pick dodger, i would advise to take out off ball best as well, your a PG so most likely you defend on-ball most of the time

Idk I think large percent of badges in 2k are trash and pick pocket is iffy because I tried a PG with a 60 in steals in a park,rec,my career, and blacktop and I tried my 95 in steals SG and gave both hall of fame pick pocket and played them against people with 90-95 ball handling and 20-24 playmaking badges and the 60 in steal actually had less fouls and didn’t foul out of any game and had more steals. The 95 fouled out of three games and had a total of 10 steals while the point had 27

Stranger Gaming 101 it is, if they have HoF Unpluckable. A lot of folks think badges like Pick Pocket and Unpluckable are useless, when in fact, a lot of the badges this year are simply counters of other badges. For example: you’re not going to need Unpluckable if your ball handling is high and your matchup’s steal rating is low because they won’t have that much success anyway. However, if they’re still rating is high and you don’t have Unpluckable, you will get ripped more often, ESPECIALLY if they have Pick Pocket on Hall of Fame, for defense. You won’t really need pick pocket, if you have a high steal rating and your matchup just so happens to have no Unpluckable or even bronze.

Got a glass lock and the only thing you can do to prevent that is dont move after you rebound just and press L2 straightaway, then just make the pass (carefully tho) quickly. Equipping unpluckable at least bronze will help you as well

Had this badge on hof for a long time at the beggining, i removed after getting reching foul multiple times with the opponent dribbling the ball right in front of me without protecting It, i put It on bronze and honeslty i can't tell the difference i have Always been quite good at getting steals (both last yer and this year over 4 per game at rec) bot honeslty this year i can't get any on ball steal without forcing the opponent to make a mistake, much Better going for the passing lanes, also if you are a lock you Will get more steals by bumping in the ball while clamping

How much steals you got in a park game with that setup? I would suggest to try to trim it down, then play 5-10 games with the same stealing intensity and see what happens, for me it looks like an overkills, maybe try to put it on bronze and see what happens.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying about how to get steals bc it is a skill to be solid at defense. Within the 1st couple plays you have to understand the dribbler’s playstyle. This video is not really helpful against ball handlers bc a lot of these steals were against non dribbling builds, especially for the 1v1 match up. I seen zero unpluckable animations. 90+ ball control w/ the badge is what’s more realistic. This is a great video for off ball builds tho. It’s more feel and patience. The average player will be better off playing against the 3 and accepting layups. I don’t use pick pocket but i am a lockdown so it’s not necessary. Having rim protector, and chase down are great badges to make you well rounded on defense. Having at least 8 badges on defense will make any build a lockdown against ball handlers. This badge works amazing in court conqueror or myCareer against AIs but it’s a really tough badge to use online bc of lag (great or little) you can spare this badge on any build. Just gotta be patient

hey thanks for the feedback! i might not show/captured a steal from a dribbling god in these clips but same principle will apply anyway, and that is to anticipate the next dribbling animation. Like i said in the video, use this badge at your own risk, just use it if you are above average in steals and just spare the upgrades on some other badges if otherwise.

nah a higher rating gives you a better chance for a steal with the badge equipped. this badge is for locks anyhow

It surely seems broken. . Had it on various levels and I seem to get more fouls the higher I put and rarely do i get a steal from actually swiping but if someone runs into me they'll drop the ball very weird

i'm just using square button. It was mentioned on the video that you will time the moment he'll about to rise from the gather then press square button
